Road and Elevated Highway Noise Barriers  1.0

About This File

The idea is not new - there's even a thread on it in the ST forum (Walls of Daronas LEX):
noise barriers that you put alongside a polluting road and which reduce the air/noise pollution.

In this implementation you find such a barrier for ground level roads, avenues, etc. as well as a barrier that can be used with elevated highways. The models I used for the barriers are not mine: I came across them when I was leeching some Japanese sites a couple of months ago - sorry, but I couldn't read the chap's name who made this BAT (if you know - please mail his name and I'll put it in here).

***************************************************

EDIT:

Reading the comments below, I was indeed struck by the fact that some people just haven't read my text, therefore I restate:

THE MODEL FOR THE TWO NOISE BARRIERS WERE DOWNLOADED FROM A JAPANESE SITE (sorry, I don't know the uploader's name - if it's SeaUrchin, then he is credited here!).

However, for the record: I DID NOT PIRATE ANY OF THE SETS I UPLOADED - in fact, I BUILT NEW LOTS, with just using the barriers as props - it was a COMPLETELY NEW DESIGN for both lots to which I ADDED THE FUNCTIONALITY OF POLLUTION REDUCTION (anyone who wants to verify this can ask me for the original Japanese lots).  If this is seen as piracy or any other form of plagiarizing, they'd better close down this site because in that case most of the published lots here are pirated!

SO BEFORE ACCUSING ME - GET THE FACTS RIGHT!!!
And also thanks to the guys who did read and stood up for me in the discussion below!

*****************************************************

Installation: just put the two dat-files in your plugin folder - you will then find the barriers in the Parks-menu.

BTW: the barriers for the elevated highway are "extended", i.e. they stick out halfway into the neighbouring lots - this way you only need one to cover two pieces of highway; moreover, they look better at ramps, crossings, and the like.

5 questions: 1) Can they adapt to slopes? 2) Are diagonal lots included? 3) Can the elevated walls follow curves in el-highways? 4) Can they follow transitions between ground and el-highway? 5) Can trees be planted on the free surface that's left on the lot?

Another question. Are these optional? I don't want all of my avenues covered with these. These should be highway/freeway only, don't you think?

The person who did them uses the screen-name "Sea Urchin". I agree with SIMMANIA in that if you are not the creator or have their permission, why are you uploading them.

Very nice and very useful. Most of the freeways in L.A. have sound barriers to block out the noise so this is a familiar sight to me.

Ahem. Can't you read? Anyways, pretty good job. I've got the original version myself. And yeah, good job. But did you ask him if you could post on here?

Kinda neat, of course if your city is tight and roads are up with little or no room to budge... I did however half-way surround the city jail (facing the road side) near C lots with these, we'll see how it goes. Thanx

It looks nice, i see nothing wrong in downloading it. I only see the goddamn TROLLS and wankers complaining, go to the Japanese BAT thread and ask Armandeus (hes Japanese) if youre so concerned about finding and getting the creators permission.

Some of the complainers here are a perfect example of why I shun most forums and online discussions. Thank you for uploading these. I found them usefull in a city that will be in a CJ soon.

Ok, 5 answers (see above for the questions): 1) if the slopes are not too steep, it doesn't look bad at all. 2) No. 3) No. 4) No. 5) Yes (raised vesion).

Don't be idiots; read the description before flaming. It's obvious no plagiarism is intended. (cagh, You may want to contact Armandeus, our official Japanese liaison, if you need further assistance.)
