What is the best rule for neighbor connections, and when should you make connections ? Heavy rail seems different, and the game will nag you about building rail to push Industrial goods out. Lot of times I see people making cities and just randomly making road connections without any planning. I've read that if you make a road connection, to make sure you at least have a bus stop and some jobs on other side >>> What if that City has 0 population ? Could I just plop some landmarks with jobs and make sure there power, water...etc and leave it like that with 0 population ? To me it would seem proper to have a City population of about 30,000 to 50,000 before doing neighbor connections. Now my 2nd question is what about Years in Age difference sync between cities ? Should I get the 1st city to about 50k population within 8 to 12 years, and then work on 2nd city and build it up a little and let it run 8-12 years to catch up with the next city ?

I looked for an answer to this question, honest I did If I drag STR to a neighbor, it *appears* to connect, but does it really? (I seem to recall the RHW uses special neighbor connector pieces, but I haven't found one in the Rail Menu - though it could be hiding somewhere).

Hello! I’ve been away from the game for quite some time and I’ve discovered much to my dismay that I can no longer play my disc version because of a fully updated Win 10. I understand about the SafeDisc issue and contacted Origin for a free digital version of my game which they supplied to me. I downloaded the game from the Origin site and was happily playing one small city to refamiliarize myself and went to connect my small city to one of the larger cities in my newly created region (not one of the preloaded regions.) My problem is that I can’t see any of my initial small city neighbor connections on any of the bordering cities. I’ve tried establishing a new city, but I still can’t see the neighbor connection(s) I’ve created in the initial city. Also, I don’t see any traffic—motor or pedestrian—when I zoom in. In my search for an answer, I decided to make sure my game is fully updated. The properties tab for SimCity 4.exe states its version 1.1.641.0, but the file size is only 7.17MB instead of 8.407+MB. Similarly, the four .dat files are all less than what they should be, according to jeronij on the SimCity 4 Devotion site. I haven’t downloaded the NAM or anything, but would dearly love to. So, I’m wondering how I should approach this: go ahead and download the patch, apply it to the game and hope this fixes the neighbor connection issue, uninstall the Origin game and buy the GoG or steam versions, or just find an inexpensive Win7 computer just to be able to play the game. I’ve attached screenshots of the properties tab and the Origin game files folder. I’m running Win 10 64bit on a Toshiba satellite with a AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon HD graphics 6520G @ 1.40 GHz, and 6GB of memory. Virtual memory is 8415 MB. The game ran fine on both XP and Win7 with the occasional crash, but nothing major. Thank you so much for your help with this.

Upgrading a Road Connection to an Avenue Connection Causes Mass Unemployment
GridL0cked posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello Simtropolis. I'm just going to cut to the chase and keep it simple because I tried to type this already and forgot to highlight everything and hit Ctrl+C prior to clicking submit. Yeah... So, I founded two cities on a new region, connected them up after some development, put all the jobs in the first so that everyone in the second goes there to work, and upgraded my "main street" connection to an avenue. What happens is mass swaths of no job zots in the second city that constantly change, and all traffic in and out of the city at the connection point is changed exclusively to pedestrians. I'm certain the pedestrians and zots are somehow connected. All of this happens every time I make avenue connections, starting since about a year ago, even though I've been playing the game for much, much longer than that. Any solutions? I use the NAM. Thanks in advance.- 12 Replies

Hi, I'm trying to confirm I have something right. If I set up 6 large tiles like this: A B C D E F If I make "E" the CBD, Sims from D, B, and F will look for work in "E" using roads, highways, El, train, etc. Correct? Thanks in advance.
