  1. Gray Art Glass et al

From Merrickville in rural Ontario,... Right Hand Building (Red) - Gray Art Glass of Merrickville, Ontario, Canada are an artisanal glass blowers whose tiny blaster furnace produces high end glass ornaments for the carriage trade. Left Hand Building (Grey) - Olympia Cannabis (formerly Zephyr Cannabis) - An industrial scale "grow op" (legal in Canada). Building also contains Hairdooz the hairdressers and Groovy Tattoos. For those not wanting the "grow op", please see "Gray Art Glass" for that building on ts own (Look, folks, I spent well over a week working round the clock to perfect Gray Art Glass before realising what the neighbouring building was being used for, but Gray Art Glass looks ridiculous with a crazy huge car park without that neghbouring building, so I had little choice but to add it to the final draft)

  6. Matelas Dauphin and Videotron

From the streets of the Plateau in Hull, Quebec, I bring you:- - Matelas Dauphin - Founded in 1970, Dolphin Mattress is one of the top mattress retailers in Quebec. The store shown (on the left) is a faithful reproduction of their store at the Plateau shopping centre. I admit that they do not, in reality, have a hedge cut like a dolphin in their garden at the back of the mal, but it was such a unique opportunity to use this prop that I added it. - Videotron - Quebec's telecommunications giant. Estabished in 1970, it is now part of Quebecor, owned by the Idiosyncratic and mercurial billionaire, Pierre Peladeau. One of the world's largest cable TV companies, it is also dominates the mobile telephone network, has a vast chain of retail premises, owns numerous TV stations and, until recently, was one of the last few major rental chains that continued to battle on, only closing it doors finally, about ten years after Blockbusters had long since thrown in the hat.

Although I have never visited it, I am assured that the Duke of York pub is an archtectural masterpiece. At a time when 18 pubs are closing A DAY in the United Kingdom, the owners spent crazy money to bring in a top team of dedicated architects and interior design consultants to rebuild the interior into beautiful restaurant, true to its Victorian/Edwardian origins to provide fine dining in one of the busiest areas in central London, otherwise dominated by fast food outlets. Why they did this beats me, as, according to numerous online reviews, the Duke of York has become infamous across London for its pricey food and ignorant surly staff. (Took me nearly four days to do this, so I hope you're all happy with it)

Located on the High Street of Chiddingstone Causeway, immediately opposite Penshurst railway station, this classic English country pub was once known as "The Ralway Hotel". Complete with BBQ at the back, it now serves a wide variety of traditional Engiish cuisine and used to be well known locally for its fine roast potatoes, yet still retains a limited selection of rooms for tourists visiting Kent, "the garden of England"

    Version 1.0.0

Famous for having huge front windows, these two defunct store were once commonplace in the commercial centres of British towns:- 1. Radio Rentals - Huge numbers of British citizens used to rent their TV not own it, including my parents. Why? Early TV sets were not only expensive, but also unreliable, however, if one rented it from Radio Rentals, a family were assured a swift visit by a trained professional who knew how to mend a broken TV set. Curiously, Radio Rentals left a truly bizarre legacy behind, it is the reason why VCRs all ran on the VHS system not the superior Betamax. Faced with a better competitor, the inventors of VHS gave a deal of a lifetime to Radio Rentals, resulting in the company offering the public a free VHS machine if your rented your TV from them. With only three/four channels to choose from at the time in the UK, this became an instant hit, and it must have seemed like money falling ut the sky for Radio Rentals. By the end of the 1970's, when barely 2% of Americans owned a VCR machine, over 60% of all VCRs in the world were owned by British households, and they were, of course, all VHS machines. So, by 1980, all the studios concentrated all releases on the taste of the British public not the American, and everything was put ut on VHS. 2. Lunn Poly, the Travel Store - The explosion in the cheap package tours to Spain in the 1970s, brought also a similar growth in travel agents, and Lunn Poly rode the wave better than almost any others. Despite only having built up its chain to a meagre 65 stores by 1965, about 100 years after it was founded by a European lay preacher, it boasted 509 branches countrywide by the mid 1980s. Although taken over by the group owning Thomson Air Tours, sadly, the decision wa taken to scrap the brand and its powerful white writing on a scarlet field is now noteworthy for its absence from most British town shopping centres. The brickwork and its colour is based on those in Pimlico in London while the basic design of the building is inspired by those in the Latimer Road area of Kilburn.
  23. New Year's Quiz - Move First Lines

BONUS QUESTIONS... 13. "Ladies and Gentlemen, the driving force behind Catholicism WOW, Cardinal Glick" 14. "Don't forget the checkee" 15. "Right, let's sort the buyers from the spyers, the needy from the greedy and those who trust me from the ones who don't, because if you can't see value here today you aren't up here shopping , you're up here shoplifting." 16. "Hey! What is it? What?" 17. "She isn't coming yet, Toto. Did she hurt you? Oh, she tried to, didn't she?." 18. "Hold on a minute" 19. "Who the Hell is he trying to kid?" 20. "Peter"
