Recommended mods? (Help the Noob)
JayRam replied to Liz Hayes's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Awesome! Thanks for posting those links. It is a bit overwhelming. Currently I'm avoiding anything with lots of dependencies, but expect to add more of them down the road. Definitely interested in ballparks, breweries, distilleries (I'm from Kentucky), bike paths, campgrounds, lodge, maybe a state park, and all that fun stuff. Though between SPAM and NAM, there's already to absorb from the base game.- 30 Replies

Recommended mods? (Help the Noob)

Cool. I'd like to install everything that adds to the gameplay and fixes issues in the base game, along with extra features like the low res housing that seem to be well tested and established. Hopefully get to a place where fixing mods aren't a distraction.- 30 Replies

Recommended mods? (Help the Noob)

Got a similar noob question. I've played a lot of SC4 over the years, but never bothered with mods. Started down this rabbit hole at one point and got overwhelmed. After downloading a bunch of plugins, is there a good way of testing that everything's going to play nice? Somewhere along the way I found Cleanitol and used that to check for missing dependencies. Guess I'm curious if there's a way to quality check what I've done, or just find out when my city looks like a UPS facility? Saw someone mention that some plugins need to run after others, but it seems they are typically named with a "z" so not sure if that's something we need to worry about much.- 30 Replies

Earliest SimCity Series Memory...
JayRam replied to enemyone's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
First time poster here. I've been playing some version of SimCity off and on for three decades. Earliest memory is around 12 years old. My mom had returned to college to finish her degree awesome and of her profs had assigned SimCity to the class. You needed to reach a certain population (think it was 100,000) to pass the assignment. Soo... mom drove my sister and I to campus one weekend so that all three of us played SimCity til someone got to 100,000! It took nearly the whole day. This was the Classic version in 2D. I still vaguely remember what the city looked like. It had like 20 coal plants in one area (my mom commented about building so many, but I had the money and needed the power). After hitting 100,000, I saved the game, got up, and learned that staring at a monitor all day will wreck your eyeballs. Tropico has scratched my city building itch in the recent past. Have not experimented with SC4 mods before, so looking forward to that and some planning experimentation.
