naughtynathanael replied to naughtynathanael's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hi All - I believe that all the connections are actually working. It seems that It just took time for them to become active. They are all now working effectively and with good volume. I really appreciate your support and now realize I jumped the gun! -
RHW - Neighbours Connections challenge
naughtynathanael replied to naughtynathanael's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Is this of any help? -
Hi All. I have done searches to try and find answers to my problem on here and YouTube and so far with no luck. I have progressed a lot with SC4 over the last couple of months when I started playing again after... 17 years! My new challenge is the learning how to effectively use the RHW. This is my problem and please excuse the novel: I have built a ring highway (8s L1) around my main city. I have connected it 4 different city tiles in the region. I have built onramps and flyovers and all are working well within each tile - good volumes of cars, busses and freight trucks. I have watched several YouTube tutes and am getting the hang of it (interchanges etc). My main problem is with NC's (neighbour connections). Firstly, I have been dragging the the 8sL1 (using RHW 2) to the edge of the tile and accepting the the connection to the adjoining city. I then use the flex NC place them on the edge of the tile (x4 NC's side by side as the 8s side by side is 4 squares on the grid (? terminology!) reconnect the blanks left by plopping the NC's and then after saving, go to the adjoining city tile and do the same in that city logically creating the connection. Note there are no spaces between the two as in no median strip so i haven't used the loop. Please note I have tried laying the Flex NC's first and then dragging the highway into the connection. Have tried L0, L1 and L2 but get the same issue with each. What is happening is that one direction - usually leaving the city - I have a good flow of freight trucks (i know this is an indicator of an error) leaving the city. But what it looks like is that they're driving over the edge and down vertically and looping back to the other direction of the highway and disappearing. When i query each direction the out going side will say (in each lane) ie Freight Trucks 750 but on the incoming side it will say (none). If i hold the query on the incoming side NC at the very edge it will say a volume of freight. If i then go to the neighbouring city tile, it will be the same - every now and then, I will see busses coming from the neighbouring city but no cars yet I know that there should be heaps. Please note there isn't a faster of more preferred route that they would be taking rather than the highway. I know I am doing something wrong - I have tried heaps of different combinations and have not fixed the problem! its driving me crazy and is probably something easily resolved. Your help would (as always) be super appreciated!

Creating a Region with large tile only
naughtynathanael replied to naughtynathanael's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi there - just wanted to let you know that I did find some helpful stuff on youtube and between this site and that have started using the mapper - i have now got a region with primarily all large tiles which im very happy about. This was by downloading a region from simtropolis and then editing it in the Mapper. I do have another question if that's ok? I have created and edited a region in the game with water courses etc to my liking. Of course editing the terrain city by city is one thing but I cant change the size o\f the tiles doing that. I opened the mapper and loaded that region - which did open however it seems that only some of it loaded? I changed the layout to big cities and then save under a new name as the original had exiting cities. When I opened the newly saved region, i was pretty outta whack. Where there had been level terrain in unnamed cities there was now water. Some of the tiles even had part water/land. I couldn't see in the mapper a way to raise or lower terrain. My question is, if wanted to duplicate the exiting region that i created in the game and change the tiles to big cities, how would I do that using the mapper without having the same problem? -

Thanks for taking the time to reply and explain - i really appreciate it. I have installed SC4Fix. In relation to what I'm looking for in a region - it is just that - flat and made up of only large tiles as in the large size in the vanilla game. I am committed to working this out lol! -
Creating a Region with large tile only

Hey thanks for the info - I installed SC4 Mapper - in truth I don't know where to start! Is it a matter of first creating a region in the game and then opening the mapper and editing in there? I do not know what a GUI is - I googled it and it left me a bit lost? Sorry - I was honest when I said i wasn't that technically versed! I'll see if I can find a tute on youtube maybe. The GPU i have should easily cope with this. Im using the SC4 launcher and had it set at 2 cores - after doing some reading I set it to 1 and no crashes. I appreciate your help - i will learn - just need the direction! -
Creating a Region with large tile only

Hi All. I've recently returned to SimCity after (many) years away and am loving it! the NAM is awesome. I an old school Mac user but I even went and bought a PC just for SimCity. I'm learning and experimenting with mods and am working through solutions to the inevitable game crashing. Im playing via Steam on windows 10. My next challenge in to create a region/regions that have only large tiles. the small ones in particular annoy me! I've been trying to search out out to do this - there's talk of 'blue' only and stuff to do with config's but honestly I'm not too sure... Could one of the wise please talk me through how to do this? I am not that IT savvy so if you can keep the language fairly simple id be grateful. Nat -

Thanks for that! I play on Mac (seems to add a challenge). I have successfully down loaded the NAM and been able to set the TSCT to my settings. I have down loaded a couple of mods successfully - now i have managed to sign into SimCty devotion and am going to attempt a mod with dependencies.- 5,840 Replies

New to this site! I have recently started playing SC4 again after many years away. mI'm loving it. There are some terminology inhere though I have no Idea about. This like dependencies - are these files that need to be downloaded first? Don't wanna be annoying but am keen to learn but must admit my tech language/skill is limited- 5,840 Replies
