      well, you can also argue that the 2004 game is objectively superior to its successors. To me, what keeps SC4 on the top is the overwhelming flexibility, the graphics quality (that it really hard to overcome with real 3D graphics) and the relatively low requirements for playing it (mind you, I'm using a work laptop with integrated graphics, not a gaming rig with 32 Gb of RAM and a beefy GPU)
