  1. Cloud Assets Experiment

Can't wait till they're released! I thought this project was dead, but I'm glad to see I was wrong!
  2. Thanks for the name @inusan! I've uploaded the map: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1264850832&searchtext=cape+chadwell
  3. Just finishing my new map, making it BonBon-proof, so to say. Any suggestions for a name?
  4. I don't know for sure, but I believe the map isn't really necessary. With other savegames I downloaded it wasn't necessary. And as for the savegame; in the content manager is a 'publish' button next to each of your saves. Just hit that, write a catchy description and don't forget to list the mods and assets you used. If you used very many, a collection may be handy. Hope that helps
  5. Urban Progress

Fantastic that you continue your CJ even though you're savefiles were gone! And god isn't it a blessing to have those sunshafts again!
  6. Show us your airport.

I have never experienced that, but maybe it would help if you change the fly routes with More Network Stuff (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=512314255&searchtext=network), so the shortest route is not anymore over the 'vertical' runway. Hope that helps, and anyway, nice airport!
  7. Chelsea - Update 10: Over the River

Nice city, I'd love to see more! Unfortunately, that's impossible in vanilla, but there's this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=877748783&searchtext= Hope that helps.
  8. Timelapse

Gotta love that bleak communist feel ! I'd love to see more!
  9. Hello everyone and welcome again to Skirton, the city that no one wants to live in! Today we’ll take a closer look at the residential areas of the town. More ‘old run down type cities which have a communist view to them’ for @89James89! But I also hope @TekindusT will get his share of ‘grit and rust’. This is the hospital of Skirton, with the 'eternal construction site' in the foreground. The residents of Skirton call this the eternal construction site, because it has been like this for years. But don't think that it's abandoned, and that the poor hospital patients can sleep peacefully! No, every few years the local government comes up with a new plan for this area, and everything that has been built is destroyed, and they start all over again... Another shot of the hospital. This here is the 'Pyramid of Safety', another one of the mayor's fraudulent projects. It cost far more than it should have, and unsurprisingly, a brother of the mayor built it. Still, the tourists seem to like it. (I want a tourist remover mod for this city . So many tourists look weird in this city) And here we have one of the main attractions of the city: the conference center. This is one of those places where companies send their employees for endless meetings with cheap coffee and terrible biscuits. This is the main commercial district, next to the main highway entrance of the town (you can see a tiny part of it on the right of the picture). The idea is that the whole region goes here to enjoy the fantastic shopping centre. In reality, most people only come to these shops when they get confused by the terrible design of the intersection and the vague signs, accidentally take a wrong turn and end up here. However, I have to admit that this is a fantastic place for low price, low-quality trash that breaks within five days after you bought it, if you're into that kind of stuff. Also note the landfill in the background. The shops in Skirton have a cordial relationship with that landfill. Let's just say they take recycling to a whole new level . There also is a casino in Skirton. It isn't as popular as the owner thought when he built it. However, officially, it's completely full every single evening. In every normal city, the police would have looked into it, but Skirton's police has a 'inspirational meeting' in the casino every month, so nothing happens. I hope you are now all so enthousiastic about Skirton that you all want to live there! I will show some possible residences now. Let's start with the classic Skirton tenement. It is said mr. Skir, the rich industrial who practically founded Skirton, stole the design from a communist country. However, a true specialist immediately notices the difference. For instance, there are no communist symbols on the walls of these boys. A shot of the tenements at night. Don't believe all the stories about high crime in these neighbourhoods. The raiway really livens up this neighboorhood. Ten times an hour. With beautiful, long, heavy cargo trains. But maybe you're into a smaller, quieter kind of house, with more green. Just ignore the highway buzz and the wind turbines nearby, ok? And the neighbours might have an agressive bulldog, but that's not a problem, is it? In the foreground of this picture you can see Skirton's very own city farm. No one knows exactly what old uncle Sam is growing there, but it sure looks nice. Well, that's it for today, I hope you enjoyed this entry. The next entry might take a little longer to make than this one (I have to build the new parts first )
  10. I've been on Simtropolis for a few months now, and I have seen so many beautiful cities, that I'd love to live in... All that really inspired me - to do the opposite! I have tried to make a city that I wouldn't want to live in no matter what. But let's not wait too long, let's d(r)ive into my dystopia! Somewhere next to the highway from Hansardia to Senbattsil lies a place that most people drive past as fast as possible. That place is Skirton. Although it is vital for the region's infrastructure, it's not a place you'd want to live in. The uglyness already starts a while before the actual town. These abandoned factories were built about fifty years ago, when mr. Skir, one of the richest and most important businessmen in the country, wanted to build his own city, where he could do whatever he wanted. Altough, when built, these factories were hypermodern, they have never produced anything; short after the construction mr. Skir died, and due to mismanagement his commercial empire died with him soon after. However, the settlement where the factory workers would have lived is still called Skirton. This is the intersection between the A34 and the A66, the two highways that enclose the town of Skirton like a cage. In the background you can see the chimneys of the coal power plant and the incineration plant. These two polluting abominations maybe aren't very nice neighbours, but they provide power to the whole region. As you can see on the right, Skirton has recently also invested in clean power. It's just a pity for the neighbours that those wind turbines have been placed there. Here we have the coal power plant again. It's actually the most important landmark of Skirton. Not only can you see it from anywhere in town, but you can also smell it everywhere . A map of the town. Normally I would end with this, but for Skirton, the surrendings are everything. As you can see, the city center is surrounded by highways, that cut off the beautiful nature around the city (most Americans probably wouldn't even notice, but I wouldn't like living next to a highway). The landfill and incinerator cover Skirton all year round with their foul smell. The coal Power plant (together with the industrial district), only worsens this, and pollute the whole area. On the right of the picture you can see the prison, that houses criminals from all over the country. A long story short: Skirton isn't a place where you'd go willingly (at least not me). A shot from the landfill site; the locals call this place the 'Stinky hills'. The harbor and industrial district. This place is actually perfect to start a factory: the ground is quite cheap, there are enough badly educated workers nearby, and most importantly: the local government doesn't really enforce the environmental laws too strictly. This is also why Skirton has the most pollution of the whole country. The oil refinery. This behemoth is also here because the people here like money more than clean air and ground. This is the prison; the worst criminals of the country are locked up here. Security isn't too good, so every once in a while a prisoner escapes and the whole town is searched. The local police station; it's actually rather big for such a small town, but a rather big percentage of the town doesn't take the law too seriously... by the way, we'll see what those tourists are looking at in a giffy. This is the central square of the town, with in the background the station and in the front the place where all those tourists were looking at: the 'Sparkly Unicorn Statue'. This statue has won several prizes, such as for the ugliest statue and the most random statue. Rumor has it that the mayor has hired a family member to design this and embezzle some money in the progress. Well, that's it for today, stay tuned for more. Oh, and before I forget; enjoy this picture that's been made by the local government to promote Skirton: (Gotta love the Comic Sans MS )
  11. I see they still haven't fixed the cable cars... Well, I guess my cims just have to pick the right seat
  12. That's true I suppose, although it is a bit of a pity... I would like ferries to also supply far-off islands, where a cargo harbour would be overkill. But you can't have it all I suppose. And maybe I'll find some nice small harbour with matching ships on the workshop.
  13. Well @Avanya, here are my ideas to make those videos better: not a 40 minutes livestream building a *cough cough* mediocre *cough* vanilla city, but like in the second part of the video, a city that's already built (preferably a nice city, but hey, anything goes I guess) with everything you want to highlight in there, then you can cut out the boring city building. I also would like it if those videos were a bit shorter, not necessarily 10 minutes, but actually as short as possible without cutting out interesting information. For the rest, I don't think the 'interview' idea is bad, this way the viewers can actually see how the new transport modes work in the game itself. I do think they should make their trailers a bit more interesting. I'm not actually fond of that old man and his strange rimes.
  14. You're of course right, there are many places where the cable cars don't have a road, and it would be nice if CO made a cable car endpoint without a road. I would however understand if they didn't do it, because in terms of gameplay it wouldn't be used. Cims simply don't go to a nice mountaintop to enjoy the view, at least not if there's no building or park there. And well, CO has to do as if there's gameplay at all in Skylines (oops, that's maybe a bit too much salt? ) By the way, I do think they (or maybe a few helpful modders?) should make a smaller kind of cable car station, for ski resorts.
  15. I don't think it will be: in the video they said you will need a road anyway, as the cable cars cannot deliver goods. And if you want to build a mountaintop village with only houses, those houses also need a road connection, so I don't think cable cars without a road connection would actually be necessary. But maybe a modder will make it for you?
