  1. Wanted to take a break from Dubai assets atleast for a while and try out some new architectural styles. So my first WIP is the Tribune tower located in Chicago. Still got some detailing and that sub-building left to do before I can start working on textures, but let me know what you think sofar...
  2. Well I also had some troubles figuring it out until I came across a floorplan and some decent satelite photos of the building and saw that the building wasn't really a square. Thanks, would love to see what you've done.
  3. That's fantastic and I respect your opinion. How do you feel about making a asset or two from Old Town Island?
  4. I thought it would be a good idea to make myself a thread to get some help and feedback on my projects before I release them. So my current projects are some Sheikh Zayed Road buildings. All main-models are textured, just need nightlights and LODs: Here's a link to my workshop for anyone who wants to check that out: http://steamcommunity.com/id/gby0221/myworkshopfiles/?appid=255710 and here are some pics of the Al Yaqoub, Rolex tower, Chelsea tower and Al Tayer tower; For the Tayer tower I've stumbled upon another shadow "glitch" problem. This means that the more I zoom out, the more the top of the building becomes blue. Here's an example;

    Having some problems with the textures on these buildings. As you can see from the images belove the frame in the middle of the windows goes from sharp to blurry with a pretty visible transition. Might happen to all buildings, just something I haven't noticed until now. But it's bothering me, so if there's a way to fix that, please let me know.' Also testing out normal maps for the first time. I'm using NVidia PS plug-in for this. Might the normal map be something that might cause this to happen? I believe I read something about inverting the red channel, which I haven't done yet.
  7. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198185148005/myworkshopfiles/?appid=255710 Mr Maison is absolutely somebody to follow as he has some of the best trees/ bushes available and also some beautiful assets. He also was the first to help me understand how to use SketchUp to create assets, so I'm really grateful for that.

    Currently wokring on finnishing the Damac Residenze
  9. OfficialSaurons Dubai buildings

    Thanks Darf, honestly a bit suprised myself how well it turned out during nighttimes. Just uploaded it to the workshop. Hopefully it all works correctly.
  10. OfficialSaurons Dubai buildings

    Just some small tweaks to the LOD then it should be ready for the workshop...
  11. OfficialSaurons Dubai buildings

    Thanks Darf! Absolutely, I'll make sure to that then

    Uploaded the Chelsea tower today, please let me know what you think: http://steamcommunity.com/id/gby0221/myworkshopfiles/?appid=255710

    So here's the Attar tower textured. As most models I haven't added detail to the textures yet, but any feedback on how it looks sofar?

    This metro station does exists; http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641761055&searchtext=elevated Are you refering to this type of tram station?
  15. OfficialSaurons Dubai buildings

    @mikamaty Oh so you mean the "golden" metro station that I've got placed infront of the buidings in some of the photos? Well speaking of golden things, I'm currently working on my version of the Al Attar Tower. It's not really superaccurate to the real building, but I mean it has the correct measurments and it looks correct until the top part. Will probably also add white detailing like the render, as it looks much better than just gold everywhere.

    Definitely a good idea to add some props and of course concrete, but I believe I've added the correct shops on the ground floors. Maybe I need a couple of more signs here and there though... I usually also add some shades and adjust colors of my diffusetextures at this stage, but I haven't put the time to fully do that yet.

    Thank you Do you have any reference photos of that typical tram station, because I'm not completely sure I understand which one you mean. The Cayan tower is already uploaded by nassko so do check that one out, He also has a version of the princess tower, but I'm not sure if he's planning to upload it in the near future. The two marina towers I'm planning to release is the Damac residenze which I'm posponing until the building start to look pretty finnished in real life, and also the Marriott marina building which just needs a LOD and some nightlights. Just lost some motivation for that one, but will for sure go back to that one later. Thanks! I tried it out but unfortunately that trick didn't work for my model. As you see I got quite some space, and still it's blue daba dee;

    Darf, can you elaborate how you mean I should adjust the bases? The Yaqoub and Chelsea tower are pretty hard to get a good look at as they're connected directly to the metro stations. The base of the Tayer tower I'm absolutely not happy with yet, as I need to make some adjustments to the colorvalues there. The base of the Rolex tower should be pretty accurate to the real building.

    Another angle of the SZR towers
  20. Hi! So I was testing out one my 3d model in the asset editor when I noticed how my texture suddenly was all grey-ish. I tried loading my asset in-game to check if this wierd shadow/texture bug was still there, and yes it was, but only at a specific point during the daytime. Here's the building looking OK; And here's how it looks with the grey shadows; As you might see, there are still spots here and there which are still white. I've checked in Blender so that I don't have duplicate faces on top of eachother or something like that. I'll also add that these grey "shadows" does move around slightly when I change the angle of the camera. This is not something I haven't stumpled upon before so I thought it might be a good idea to ask here if anyone knows what causes this and if there's a way to fix it.
  21. Wierd shadows on my model

    Well I never imported a normal map, so this case happened with just specularity. But thanks for the help and I'm really happy you liked my building. Especially since you've been one of those who really helped me when I started to get into creating 3d-models. So I really appreciate it!:)
  22. Wierd shadows on my model

    Yeh, it appears slightly after when the sun hits the buildings front. My whole building is mirrored in the x-axis, but how can that cause this problem? But I'm alright with how it looks right now. It's definitely not perfect, but as it only happens during a couple of seconds I can live with it.
  23. Wierd shadows on my model

    Thanks Vos for replying, I've tried your tips and tested every value between 0 and 20. It's not going completely away, but it definitely gets a bit more discrete I'd say. My guess is that as the building is slightly rounded, the game engine has a hard time understanding where to throw shadows and reflections together.
  24. Wierd shadows on my model

    Yeh, I might try that if there's no way to discover what's the cause and how to solve it. Might not be to bad to just leave as is and live with that it's looking like this during a couple of seconds during the day.
