With Maxis Closing, what impact does that have on SC2013?
lars_city replied to macscfan's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
With the success of Cities: Skylines and the closure of Maxis, all within a week, the pain in the Maxis' employees hearts must be hurting a lot... their own brand completely taken over by an another publisher... ouch! And this was the spike in download rate when Cities Skylines was released on Steam. A spike on about 600 Gbps. -
Ok where's the amusement park?

Is it possible to have a 5 hat education level?
lars_city replied to MOWS 4 U's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Sure you can, provided no buildings get destroyed/rebuilt/reoccupied in a long time. Having a static population with full education coverage on the enrollment will eventually get you to max level. -
Where do the people come from?
lars_city replied to rigurat's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
In SimCity 3000 you would drain your neighbour cities for Sims if you made a huge metropolis too fast. -
Certainly not buying anything in a game I hardly think is worth playing in its current state... still a lot to be fixed in the mechanics of how the game functions, especially how they do the service vehicals in general, the agent system simply ain't working for those atm. Plus, anyone else know why it says (NA) behind the title, exclusive to North American region? In that case, yet another DLC packet for North America only... just brilliantly.

Finally some info from Maxis on post 2.0 (works in progress)
lars_city replied to Board_Marshal's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I think the most prominent was the air pollution bug, which seem to have been a silly code-mistake by Mike... it is human to fail under pressure, but it should have been caught by their QA :-P -
How many real life hours does it take you to complete a Great Work?
lars_city replied to 5uper_Mania's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The less your trucks is busy with something else in your city the more trucks will be allocated to transporting goods to the great works, meaning you can speed up delivery by spamming trucks centrals, e.g. trade HQ with 12 trucks garages. -
Anyone else lost interest?
lars_city replied to Lakenstaken's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Well, I certainly did not lose interest in this game, but just as with SimCity 3 & 4 I left it and came back over and over again during the years. Right now SimCity 2013 needs a patch if not several to fix major gameplay bugs... this is what is keeping me from gaming it right now, just testing out city layouts especially with the highway connection to see how one can solve/understand traffic problems once your city grows. Regarding the small city sizes, well I like the eye candy in this game, with my desktop pc set to highest @1920x1080, my laptop with a HD4000 is at medium settings at 1366x738. Increasing City size would most likely mean I'm to get myself a better graphic card for my desktop, as my MSI 460 GTX HAWK won't deal with 2x the size properly at highest settings (I think)... and my laptop with HD4000 is going to be destroyed with horrible graphics if I've to turn lighting down :-| So I am not that interested in larger city areas... Spent about 50 hours playing and I didn't even get around Gambling/oil/TV/Computer production yet! Not to mention all the cool stuff I wanted to do with sharing services that clearly ain't working that great yet. -
Train station & Train Sheduals
lars_city replied to Jakehboi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
For each train station in the region there is a train running between your city and others picking up Sims at the other cities' train stations. You could go to your other cities and plop more trains stations there, hoping that the commuters from that city is actually the ones travelling to the city you're having issues with. -

Is a high wealth city one way to mitigate the traffic problem?
lars_city replied to RRtexasranger's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Someone stills needs to clean the floors and take the garbage out including carrying all those heavy suitcases for the rich people ^^ High-wealth shops doesn't give high-wealth jobs only. Regardless I find that high-wealth sims are a pain in the neck, they will only take the blasted ferry or drive by car to commute, making them far more difficult to deal with in traffic, or at least that is my idea of those snobs. -
How do you change to European buildings?
lars_city replied to toxtethtiger's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
you buy the addon from the Origin store - and remember the landmark that gives you the building sets is only a short radius. -
Water, Water, Everywhere...
lars_city replied to JustSomeZombie's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Depends on the server you're on. As of late I find that the server I usually play on EU2,4,6 have wellupdated ressource sharing. However a key issue is that the excess ressources are shared by all cities, meaning in a cluster of 4, an excess of 75 kliters of water in one city will only be 25 kliter for each of the other cities, which gives a major headache to specialization of cities, as it gets more and more difficult to provide the needed ressources as the cities grow larger... -
Not entirely right from what I understand, it educates buildings as previously written by another poster - it is how the GlassBox engine works with agents. An agent will carry "knowledge" back to a building which then get an increased level of education or technology, of course you can add up this number and get an overall average educational level for your entire city, which is what you see on the combined 5-sign green bar, but you may have a 4 book education bar overall, but still have some areas of your city which have 0.

Add more trains to schedule
lars_city replied to rafalek's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
That doesn't change anything. I had 80 minute wait time with 3 train stations. Theres nothing that can be done to lower it. Larger platforms for larger trains would be nice. Pay attention! :-) Go to your regional view and select mass transit and look at the train tool --> Count the amount of passenger trains, then come back and say it doesn't change anything, it add +1 train to the schedules -
Constant need for more residential
lars_city replied to rbeach-uk's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I magically got 60.000 extra workers in my region due to commuters... got 110.000 jobs openings, and just 50.000 workers in my cities totally. All jobs in the § + §§ are occupied, got some 4.000 unoccupied §§§ jobs. I assume it is due to flawed agent management across regional play, that it simply cannot keep track of who is actually filling a job somewhere in the region xD Afflection Atoll region - current 5 cities created -
Started a region to test all Res no C or I
lars_city replied to elektrichead22's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Why does it needs to be patched, I like that you can create whatever you desire, you can always aim for realism if you want to or not. You doing this in sandbox mode? -
Tips on College and University Placement
lars_city replied to Allov's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
This ain't really happening at the moment, besides all your own internal student traffic will be going directly to this part as well, which might create just another unwanted addition of traffic to an already stuffed up traffic jam near the highway. -
Your resolution might be the key issue here, laptops with that kind of resolution in combination with a low-end mobile graphic card is not very good, try to reduce it a notch down.

Recycling Center Bug & cost effective workaround
lars_city replied to Grendil's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
From what I tested myself, it is when you send recycling trucks to foreign cities to help them that this $%&^! occurs, you cannot process the other guy's garbage for some weird reason this is what fills your storage up... go ahead and try, I been running without any issues since I stopped collecting garbage from other cities than my own.- 32 Replies

"No more money" residential issue
lars_city replied to zogleheros's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
most likely they end up in traffic jams yes, and are thus fired when they actually reach the job or they don't have the needed level of eduation? -
Gametime 63 hours says Origin... oh my! I think though the launcher might have been open and counted towards this number as well, perhaps 10 hours is allocated to that, meaning I've been gaming for somewhat 50 hours... I also had a 4 AM experience... yikes 3 hours sleep and work Silly Maxis taking my sleep like that. This SimCity certainly rebooted my interest in SimCity, I really didn't play SimCity 4 for years, so I'm happy to return to it, eventhough it returned with tons of things to be fixed. I experienced worse releases than this, some game companies releases games which you don't expect to be properly working before ½-1 year after release... I hope Maxis isn't one of those companies. One great thing about MMO is that they get patched more often to my experience than SP games does.

Add more trains to schedule
lars_city replied to rafalek's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Just add another train station further down the tracks if you can, I did this on a couple of cities thus far. -
Who knew recycling could be so profitable!
lars_city replied to infoman96's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Just curious - how is 'end-game' determined? Is that signaled by the game (that the city will not/cannot develop further)? Can you override that, or do you then need to completely re-structure your city, e.g. with different specializations? In practice end-game is something you decide yourself, but as colsink states, pretty much when you won't develop or change anything in your region anymore, so you're just watching a static city where you do the same over and over again.
