How about the STEX DVD's that simtropolis has been offering for years? Did those DVD's ever have any of the simper libraries on them? Is there no hope?

Geez, I think someone, somewhere got it all backward. They should've shutdown EA itself, not Maxis. EA The evil giant should die! Actually I posted a rant about this in another thread comment months ago but it was censored. I wonder why? I wasn't getting personal, I wasn't flaming any fellow forum members. I was rightfully putting an evil corporation in its place and wishing it would die once and for all. oh well. Sad day. I never bought Simcity 2013. I did buy the revamped Mac Version of SC4 and am quite happy with its performance :-)

Ouch! Mac OS X sys requirements are pretty steep :-( PC users can go as low as Windows XP, but for mac users the min. is Mavericks (10.9) or better. Then there is the CPU issue. My work computer (2.8GHz i7 w/16GB Ram) and ATI Radeon HD 4850 is just too obsolete to run this game. You'd pretty much need an iMac or better that was released in the last year to run this game. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or money to buy a new iMac just to run this game. Too bad. I think I would have loved to buy and play this game, looks like the ideal successor to SC4.

how-to I have NAM 32 installed on my Mac with the Aspyr Re-Release Version. Well, most of it.
2four replied to brunoresende29's topic in SC4 Mac Users
The files you've mentioned haven't existed since NAM 30. They were renamed to reflect what they actually contained in NAM 31. I suspect you've gotten into the legacy (read: outdated) documentation that was left over from NAM 30, which probably shouldn't be included in the package anymore. You can tell if it's "legacy" if it's an HTML file. All the new stuff is in PDF files. Since we had to stop supporting the Aspyr port by the time the PDF files were written, due to the post-Rosetta issues, I suspect there's probably not all that much about Mac installation in there. Yes. We're still not there. SimTarkus is probably the best source of information. Since I wrote those last two posts, we've gotten some very positive feedback on JDatPacker, so that's a viable solution to the file size issue. We seem to have a solution to the whole unpatched business as well. The third issue--the installer--is going to be the tricky thing. Our goal is to do an actual installer, closely approximating what our Windows installer does--ZIP and DMG formats aren't going to cut it. Historically, that's what the Mac community has wanted, and it's our best bet to ensure we don't create tech support headaches. It's a big undertaking, but we believe it's worth it. -Tarkus Thank You Tarkus for your reply. I was beginning to think I was losing my marbles. Thanks for clearing that issue up for me. Also, it sounds like you guys are making progress on NAM updates. I really am looking forward to this and wish you and your team the best of luck :-) -

Well I tired the OP's method and the game loads but when I get to the city screen, the game is frozen with the endless spinning beach ball from hell. So no NAM for now :-( My Specs are: 2012 Mac Mini (2.6GHz i7), 16GB Ram, 1TB Fusion Drive. Mac OS X 10.9.3 -
how-to I have NAM 32 installed on my Mac with the Aspyr Re-Release Version. Well, most of it.

Is the documentation for NAM32 out of date? Right at the start of the installation instructions there is reference to five files; NAM Core Files NetworkAddonMod1.dat NetworkAddonMod2.dat NetworkAddonMod3.dat NetworkAddonMod4.dat NetworkAddonMod5.dat I cannot find these files! I expanded the NAM32 .exe file using the "Keka" application. But for some reason the files I've mentioned above are missing. I'm assuming that the documentation is out of date? Can someone please confirm this? -

As I mentioned in the main thread about the re-release, now that Aspyr is supporting it again, and one of our veteran devs obtained a copy (and is already looking into the issue), we have a fighting chance now. Before, we had no feasible way of narrowing it down. -Tarkus Wow! This is AWESOME news Tarkus. Thanks to you and your team for looking into this. Hopefully, there will be an updated NAM for the updated OS X version one day :-) -

SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition Makes Triumphant Return to the Mac
2four replied to NCGAIO's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Bought SC4 Deluxe from the Apple Store this evening. First impression is that I feel like I'm playing a pc version of the game, it moves... FAST! The scrolling is sooo sweet! Thank you Aspyr for a job well done! I can now play this at my cottage on those lonely, long, rainy nights without an internet connection and really, lets be honest here... SC4 is way better then SC2013. I'm running a clean install without any plug-ins. Gotta say I really miss my roundabouts :-) Hope one day to be brave enough to install NAM. -
SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition Makes Triumphant Return to the Mac
2four replied to NCGAIO's topic in SC4 Mac Users
This is fantastic news. I'm assuming of course that the code for the application has been updated. If this is in fact the case..... Happy Days AGAIN!!! :-) Can anyone verify that the code has been optimized and SC4 now kicks ass? -
SimCity developer asks modders to maintain the integrity of the game.
2four commented on Dirktator's article in News
"jeopardize the integrity of the gameplay or harm the experience of others." What crock! EA harmed the game from the get-go. I'm STILL happily enjoying SimCity 4/Rush Hour/Modded up the ying-yang and is AWESOME! Nice large maps and no online crap ever. Nope, still not going to by the new version. Piss-off EA you suck! -

SimCity Expansion Pack Silently Announced. To be Released on Nov. 12, 2013
2four commented on Cheddar's article in News
Ha! I'm still playing simcity4 (RH) on my laptop and in a few weeks I'm heading up to the cottage, if its raining - I'l be able to sit inside and continue to work on my city.. with rail and no need to be connected to the internet. EA = Monumental FAIL. You'll never see me forking over my dough for the latest incarnation. pfffft. -
I like this. What others have said, "Like AOE without the fighting and weapons". I'll buy this game when it comes out - provided there is no online DRM crap; I like to play sim games on my laptop when it is pissing rain at the cottage on a friday night.

Maxis: SimCity’s “lonely experience” influenced always-online play
2four commented on Hellken's article in News
What a narrow view. To take the direction of the game based on one's perception. Obviously, Ocean is a social creature and not a 'loner'. Some of us are both, I enjoy being social in the real-worls, but when it comes to solitary game play, I enjoy being the architect of my own demise. I do not need others to enjoy my gaming experience. I will not be buying this game. -
For the OP. I just bought, downloaded and installed a game for my mac called "Legend of Grimrock". If you like the dungeon crawl genre then this game is for you. If you loved "Dungeon Master", then this game is for you. I don't need to be online to play, I don't need to have a dvd or cd inserted to play. It is a 'solo' game, no social gaming crap. Just load it up and the damn things works fine! There is custom DLC available if you go through Steam, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Isn't that nice? Choice for the gamer. old skool. :-)

Simcity To Include Cloud Storage For Cities, Online Play.
2four commented on samima's article in News
I will not be buying this game for the main reason of always being connected nonsense. Diablo 3 does the same thing and I did not buy that game either. You want my money? Build a game that players want, not what you [The Developer wants]. Rainy night at the cottage, might as well load up Simcity for a few hours, perfect place and time, right? - except..oh oh, no internet. I understand the developer's need for anti-priacy mechanics to recoup loss revenues, but not at he expense of a player's enjoyment of forcing an 'aways-connected' play. Then there's the social aspect of the game. Give me a break. I play simcity to exercise my brain not my jaw. I don;t want to be social. I want to be left alone in my own world, to let my creativity flow. I don't want or need people peeking in on or offering creative suggestions on how to improve my city. Epic Fail. -
Looks awesome! I've one request; Might it be possible to produce an STR (Single Track Rail) version of the tunnel as well? Keep up the great work :-)

It's official. SimCity 5 is coming back to Maxis. Watch it Live Now!

Wooohooooo! :-) 'bout time! -
Giggity Giggity Goo! Seeing the "Maxis" name and "Simland" and "Simcorp" plastered all over the screenshots has re-enforced my hopes...this really could be the SC5 that we've all been waiting for!

2four commented on SimTanic's article in News
What would be nice to see if SimCity 5 is a reality, is for a return to SimCity4 style of game mechanics. This is a brainiac sim. So I hope they do not waste code on incorporating all that social crap into simulation. I want to build my own city, my way and if I want to socialize I'll do it outside of the game thank you very much. And yeah, somehow please don't leave the MODD community hanging! :-) -

I recently installed bootcamp on my mac and installed windows xp and simcity 4 rush hour. I gotta say that my experience with Simcity4 has improved so much that I've dumped my mac version of the game. It was the most frustrating experience trying to play the game on my mac for years. For me it is like playing a brand new game all over again. The speed of the game is very snappy and the crashes and abrupt quits are gone. I agree with some of the other comments here; Simicty 4 was such a badly coded game, especially the mac version, that really - if Simcity 5 were to become a reality, then EA would do well to concentrate on coding and contract in or employ many of graphical talents of Simtropolis and SC4 Devotion forum posters.
