  2. ferox Gebethner and Wolff, Warsaw v2

Forgot to mention, great to include the old photo too. It is nice to know the history behind a bat!
  3. ferox Gebethner and Wolff, Warsaw v2

This is the kind of work that keeps you playing the game. Good choice of building and superb modeling. I am impressed!
  4. Propose a building - get it batted by me

Wow... The submission time is out fror long, and now I annaounced a winner as well. But off-topic requests still drop in! Yes Fledgeling, this is a monster... I guess this will turn out to be something like poor Craig Shergolds postcard request http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/errata/a/craig_shergold.htm if You do not know the story...
  5. Propose a building - get it batted by me

Sorry for my long abssence from the forums!! Thank You for all the building proposals. Thanks also for reading the rules before You posted And the winner is... Edificio Libertad, submitted by Ilikehotdogsalot. I think that building is a new challenge for me because I have never done a glass building before. Also it has an interesting relation to the little "TAM"-sign building out to the right in the pic. Hope to show the first preview soon!
  6. STEX Upload Permission

To cut a long story short, yes!
  7. Can't Find It? Ask Here!

xmike1991, check out my New York Townhouses, they are american, they are W2W! (And exeva, check out almost any bat by me but the same NY
  8. STEX Upload Permission

There is no need to ask for permission for using propos from other batters, You are free to make other peoples props as dependencies. What You are not allowed to do, normally not even after asking for permission, is to put other peoples files in Your zip file on the STEX. You need to do it like You have already seen in the exchange, clearly mark what dependencies there are and who the creator of those is. In the description text, You could also write something like "...and I would also like to thank SimDonut for the great donut prop I used in this lot" if You would like to show some extra honour and respect to the original artist.
  9. Province House Credit Union

Lovely little building! Very nice modeling of the street facade! 10/10
  10. Propose a building - get it batted by me

OK... just to clearify... If Your dear and most beloved and desired W2W building do not have an eave, well then consider the 20-25 meters limit as the total height allowance
  11. Spencer and Company

I think it is a beautiful building. It is maybe not the most typical art deco building You can find, it seems also to be an ounce of 1980
  12. AMSTERDAM

FissileBread, if You think that the Ananas grows too much then You could change the stats in the Ilive Reader. It is really simple, if You have never used it before You are a Professional stage- and occupant modder in 20 minutes. You could also adjust the figures on some of VDAs buildings, as it seems that some of them seem to take over whole neighbourhoods...
  13. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

Wohoo Tonkso, this apartment building will look great when all the lights are in! But if You are going to make all that work in creating interiors and interior lights, why not take the idea one step further? You could make 3 or so different light settings, then make those three different lighted buildings into props and make them shift every now and then by the "seasonal prop" method. Then, in the game it would look like people switched on and off the light just as ppl do in real life!
  14. AMSTERDAM

Very nice city and thanks for using my Ananas building!
  15. Rail thru building Bulowstrasse

Psycho Mantis, thanks for the correction. B
  16. Brunswick Elevated Viaducts

    Very nice indeed!
  17. Glenni's BAT showcase

I think the front looks good. Right now, I am sitting in a bar (hooked up wireless free of charge as long as I drink beer), overlooking a typical street in downtown Bangkok. THe building right across the street looks a little green too so I guess the colour is OK. But I would have made the recess of the windows even a bit more than You already did.
  18. BLaM FC Garden and Plaza Props 1

Very good! The design and colours seem much more realistic than all of those elephant-size, manga-coloured flora props that there are already 13 of in each dozen! A definite DL that I am sure to be using. Thanks a lot!!
  19. Vandals Fjella

Great update, Glenni! This looks more and more realistic!!
  20. The Republic Of Kolunborge

Really nice start and thanks for making such good use of my BATs!
  21. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

Yes I am an architect, I am just about to finish Archtect Scool to get my diploma, though I have been working self-employed in the business for some years now (here in Sweden "architect" is not a protected title unlike most other countries, so the graduation is more or less a formality). Well if You are applying for an architecture class/ scool then I would strongly suggest to emphasize on creative things that are related to art and architecture and keep finished building proposals to a minimum. In my experience, they basicaly do not want students who already know how to design houses. That is what they want to teach... I did not understand that and never got into architecture scool in the application tests (You can also be accepted into architecture scool by the swedish general univeristy test which finally made me into the architecture scool) Hope You make it!!
  22. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

Hello Jason, Nice to see the Boyardee building, will look great in he middle of those NAM roundabouts. Looks good but plz dont forget to add some roof junk before U release it! LOL no serously it looks like it will fit your portfolio provided those improvements already discussed. When it comes to the slight stretching of the paper wrapping over the tin can structure, I would just try to just fake those on the bitmap with a slight shadow in Photoshop. It is only some 1/10th millimeter or so so even if it would be modeled the profile would not be visible in the render. To make the scene morte interesting you could also add some dust, scratches and moisture damage to the label, as the can would look if it had been in your backpack for a week when you had been out hiking. When it comes to the portfolio I agree with gshmails, what to put init depends on the employer You will see. The best thing is to have a portfolio where You can change material depending on the occation and over time, so avoid to glue and tie everything togehter in a book if that has ever hit your mind. The mix of material you have seems interesting and should show your different skills. As You include some Sim City stuff make sure to tell the employer about the Sim City community. Employers really like people who are social, know a lot of people and have the ability to create new contacts. So if You say "Yeah and by the way when I needed some advice on finishing this macaroni can I got some input from an architect in Sweden I know trough Simtropolis", it is just what they want to hear. Good luck!
  23. ferox Dekert's Place, Rynek, Warsaw

OK i checked them on Google Earth and they really are darn deep, I have never seen this type of buildings before but You learn something new everyday! But if You want them to blend good with other W2Ws I would suggest not to overexaggerate the depth of those buildings because they already stand out as deep in the game. Anyways this is very talented work!
  24. ferox Dekert's Place, Rynek, Warsaw

Wonderful BAT, maybe the houses seem a little off-scale deapthwise but anyways it is looking very good! I love to see new euro stuff in the exchange and I cant wait for your next one!
  25. Mirrored Objects and Texturing

To cut it short: Do not use the mirror COMMAND. It is bugged as reported. Do use the mirror MODIFIER. It works without problem, just as alidonkey reported. This has been discussed before here in the forum and the above is what has been concluded after quite some testing and discussing. Happy batting!
