Hello all! I have just started a new region with a friend, United Nations. I will post updates to keep everyone informed on this great region! City - Halstedt It started small with a few lonely houses and a couple of shops, I was looking to go into the oil business.

Fields of Black Gold
guitarmatt99 posted a City Journal entry in United Nations Region Journal (SC2013)
It was time to start specialising, I knew my map was full of oil so a plopped down my first oil well! It was autumn so I plante forests to create a lovely looking scene, garbage was now taken care of and sewage was just starting to become a problem! Most of my RCI was now medium density and climbing rapidly! Most of it was low wealth and I wanted to increase this, what better than some simple fountain parks! I was earning a steady flow of cash from my oil, and it was time to start upgrading. I introduced another oil well and earned enough money to place a Petroleum HQ. I now had a coal power plant up and running to sustain my city and hopefully others in the region. I want to research the clean coal generator to stop pollution drifting across to neighbouring cities. -
A Golden Start

Thanks! I was wondering how other people did that, thanks for the advice! -
It started small. I was looking to create golden fields of oil to create the base for my region. This would be the city I would fall back on. I started with a few lonely houses and industry to gain profit. I created a small wind farm to keep my city running; I was planning on having a coal power plant which would supply other cities with power. It was a good first day and I was making profit! I decided to call this city Halstetd, it's German. I came up with a list of about 50 city names while they were still developing this game and this one caught my eye as it was unique. I have big plans for this city, big plans. I started expanding my road network to get ready for the future upgrades. All my oil was to the North of the city near the water so I was planning on having all my lucky residents in the South, the wind was blowing East which is great! I was hoping to get some high tech industry to lower down on pollution. I started gaining some medium density building and everybody was happy!

Discussion about City Tile Size
guitarmatt99 replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
EA said they were making this game for your dads old computer aswell. This is the reason for the small city size but doing this, they completely discounted all the hardcore fans that want the city size to be the size of the region. Why didnt they make different maps for this? Oh yeah, Its EA. DLC all the way, get all the money you can out of them, thats what they will do, wait until everybody is so angry about the city size so they can charge more, because people have waited so long they will just buy it. Imagine if Maxis developed AND distributed it themselves. Hm...- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
guitarmatt99 replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Bigger tiles will come. I've heard bigger tiles are included in the code which suggests it will be in DLC *sigh*. I guess it will be worth it though, I guess they are just seeing what people's computers can take before it's introduced. I'm guessing it's going to be an expansion with a few more regions that include the bigger tiles.- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
guitarmatt99 replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
They should of kept the region from SimCity 4, the region should just be a flat 2D representation of all your cities from ONE angle. All the trading a sharing of recourses could still be shown in the same way! When you want to create a city have it the same as SimCity 4 (Just that city on a block!). If this was the case the city size would not have mattered. They should have listened. edit: This is my only problem with the game, I am still going to get it, I don't hate this game in any way, its just let down by presentation!- 1,284 Replies

Zoning Improvements underway following beta feedback

I've read on Dan's twitter that they are doing different shades of green/blue to show what density can grow in that zone. -
Zoning Improvements underway following beta feedback

I tweeted Ocean about this a few days a go and he said many people didnt like it, including me, and he said they would probably change it and i'm so glad they are. edit: just watched that video and I still prefer how it was in the old gameplay video! this? or that? In my opinion it just looks more interesting. -
SimCity Beta: Graphics and Performance
guitarmatt99 replied to landstander248's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
I can run everything on low and shadows off with little lag (sigh) Dell Inspiron 531 DDR2 4GB of Ram AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5000+ 2.60GHz ATI Redeon HD 2400 Pro Can anyone suggest a graphics card for under £50 so I can run on medium (with AA)? -
SimCity 2013 Beta: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
guitarmatt99 replied to lopes8070's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
GTX 560ti dual 1gb in SLI. Keep it on 30FPS, the 60FPS option is really buggy apparently. I was looking for something under £50 with a pci-e 1.0 or 2.0, thanks anyway! Just loaded it up on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. It has an AG Vision AMD GPU and Quad core processor. Seems ok on Low settings certainly not great though. Some lag but playable. You could probably pick up a budget GeForce GT series that would run it fine. check out someplace like tigerdirect.com, somebody in the GT 600 series would probably work ok as long as you are not expecting to run high graphics. Keep in mind though, your CPU could be a bottleneck to the GPU. What are you running? I ran WoW and Diablo 3 on a Galaxy GeForce GT220 1GB card without any issues just don't expect a Civic to run like a Porsche if you know what I mean. It was a reliable card that got me through several years before I upgrade my entire computer. I have a Dell Inspiron 531 with 4GB of Ram with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5000+ 2.60GHz (which happens to be the minimum requirement!) I know i'm going to need a new power supply as mine is only 250watt (it's very old) and i've been looking at a GeForce GT630 1GB or a GeForce GT620 2GB would these work with my CPU? I will only be playing simcity so I want a graphics card that will suit this game (for £50), if not please recommend me one! I am very new to the inner workings of a computer! (I want to run this on medium as textures are appalling on low) Edit: I run an ATI Redeon HD 2400 Pro -
Hey Everybody! I've found some gameplay videos from beta! The first link shows building a city from scratch! https://www.facebook...414274918646592

what graphics cards are people running this on? Looking to get a new one and want to run it on at least minimum, who can run it on medium? Even when everything is on low and shadows are turned off I get loads of lag. -
Remember it's still a beta. Yet again it's released in a month.

The Graphics card you currently have is integrated. That means you would need a low power consuming graphics card that works with a PCI-Express 1.0 x16 slot. Therefore, I would recommend a preowned Geforce GT 450. --Ocram Thanks!

Brace yourself, I have a lot of screenshots. (there not mine) Someone had too. This is the source of all these photos. http://www.facebook.com/SimcityFanpage

Hey everybody! I've been playing the beta and I've found that I am in need of a new graphics card to play this game! I have a Dell Inspiron 531 which is an older computer. What is the best graphics card for under £60 so I can play simcity on at least medium? (because I have an older computer it would have to be compatible, I believe graphics card slots will have changed.) Running everything on low is awful. OS: Windows 8 Processer: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Ram: 4GB (DDR2 SDRAM) Current Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150
