Skyfire2275: Whoa, your Langham Place is jaw-droppingly gorgeous... I love the attention to details! Hong Kong: Have you got some pictures of the roof junk on Legco? A couple of closeups would be really good. Everyone: Thanks for all the encouragements!
  2. hkabat-forum-threads Hong Kong / Asia BAT team

Hi all, I basically quit ST about a year ago but after looking through this thread, I've decided to come back and do what I can to help out. The work shown here is awe-inspiring - SimCity 4 has an obvious shortage of Asian buildings and you guys have done a great job in trying to fill that void. Anyhow, I'd like to contribute by resurrecting an old Hong Kong BAT that I've been doing on-and-off for the past 1½ years. Some of you guys may remember it because I posted it on a thread a long time ago. So here it is folks... the grand old Legco Building. I still have a long way to go but most of the modelling is done - it just needs the small details like windows, roof junk and statuary and then I can move on to the texturing and nightlighting.
  3. Twin Harbour Region

Very nice work, cammo! You chose a spectacular region for your CJ, it looks stunning already. I've been using the Waitemata Harbour region for my newest city, and it's proving to be quite a challenge! So far, the roads look very realistic, and I really like the layout of Manukau Central Station. Btw, how are you going to do the area around the Parliament Building? Are you going to surround it with parks, or are you going to make roads radiate out from the building? City planners will leap at the chance to design a nation
  4. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

Wow Tonkso, that college is very, very nice - it's fancy without going overboard on the decor. It'd be wonderful if you could extend the building a bit though, right now it doesn't seem big enough for a college. Nevertheless, it looks great so far! By the way, what's that thing behind the glass? It looks like a satellite dish.
  5. The Library Tower

Awesome! The modelling and the nightlighting are phenomenal, 9 months of waiting was really worth it!
  6. Whoa joerg, you are a genius! I'm almost speechless at what you've done... it's a great way to get around the limits of the game.
  7. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

The realism of that apartment building is stunning! I can see how the BAT model is identical to the real-life apartments - even the colours of the windows are the same. The great thing about this BAT is that it would fit in any city modeled after ones in Canada and the US; I've seen apartments that are almost identical to these ones in the suburbs of Toronto.
  8. Building Log: Island Shagri-La Hotel

Wow, I haven't been on ST for a while and this looks awesome! I live in Hong Kong and I'm really thrilled that you're making this skyscraper - it's very realistic. Rickk, you're in luck because I live very close to Pacific Place... in fact, it's just a short 5-10 minute walk from my home. The Christmas holidays start tomorrow so I could go down there to take a couple of ground-level shots. About the roof, it's inaccessible to the public so I'll try to look for closeups on the net for you.
  9. Where to next?

Eurostar train to WATERLOO INTERNATIONAL STATION, LONDON (back to England we go! )

    Brazil or Argentina?
  12. Adventures In New Urbanism --- A Journal

What a brilliant idea! This is very educational and it combines City-Building Concepts with City Journals, plus the story is very engaging in itself. With all the research you've done, the CJ is going to be a fascinating study as well as a test of SimCity's realism. I'll be watching this thread for future updates.
  13. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

Wow jtportland, that neon sign is incredible! And it's the same for the nightlighting on the Pacwest Center... how many polys did the furniture take up? The realism is just astounding! Good luck on your upcoming CJ, it's going to look great with all these Portland BATs.
  14. Canary Wharf Station

Wow!!! That's amazing... the nightlighting is spectacular, you really did justice to the real building. A definite 10/10!
  15. Basilica Sacre Couer

What can I say? It's amazing! Once again I'm stunned at how quickly you're churning out high-quality buildings, great job!
  16. Cemetary Creation Pack

Oh, this is going to be perfect for my hilly city! Thanks for making this, it's so useful. 10/10
  17. Dome Des Invalides

Amazing, how'd you do it within such a short space of time? I love the dome and also the way the building is floodlit at night... when the stone is lit up it gives off a very warm, appealing glow.
  18. NDEX PanPacific Building by DuskTrooper

Wowza! That's gorgeous! It's breathtaking even though the pics have been sized down... a definite 10/10!
  19. Brighton Pavillion

Wow... this is spectacular! Thanks for making this masterpiece Frogface, SimCity really does have a shortage of European landmarks.
  20. HONG KONG, by ejc

Woah, that's beautiful! It's got the right feel too, especially in the way the city meets the forested mountains. All that green behind it, wow! You've done a great job here, there's just one little problem - the Bank of China should be turned the other way round so that it faces the harbour.
  21. Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower

Wow, thanks for all the great feedback! About nightlighting, the clock tower is floodlit in real life so that's why I made it glow like that.

This clock tower, one of Hong Kong's most famous landmarks, marks the site of the old Kowloon-Canton Railway terminus, where people once boarded a train for the world's longest overland journey (between Hong Kong and London). When the old railway station was demolished in 1978, the public outcry was so great that the station's clock tower was left alone. Since then, it has become the centerpiece of a public square popular for events such as watching fireworks and New Year's Eve celebrations. Though it goes under parks and recreation, the clock tower is a pseudo-landmark, so it costs 3500 SL to plop and 100 SL to maintain... that's not very expensive considering that the plop cost of Big Ben is 75000 SL! This is my first BAT-created building, I hope you enjoy it!

    It's 25
  24. City of EDMONTON

Once again, I'm stunned by the accuracy and the amazing amount of effort that has gone into this recreation of Edmonton... it's simply indescribable.
  25. The Region of NAM

Wow, I really love that Y-stack, and those double-decker buses as well... Are they any one-way road overpasses in the NAM? I could use some of those.
