The Percy Tornado Outbreak It was sunny and 83 degrees in Percy. It was June 20 and it didn't look like it would rain. At 12:58 P.M., the Intellistar in Percy mentioned: Today: sunny, high 84. Tonight: rain, low 62. It is a good day to travel. But the Local on the 8's would only be correct for a few hours. Around 2:30 P.M., showers suddenly popped like popcorn near Sonic. Then it grew for seven seconds. Then the Severe Weather Center in New York City issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Percy, Canton and Cumberland counties. Several minutes later the weather got worse and promped the SWC to replace the watch with a severe thunderstorm warning for Percy, Canton and Cumberland counties. 13 Minutes later, the huge Doppler Radar at SWS HQ found a tornadic area of the storm which was at the time over Sonic, so they issued a tornado warning for western Canton County. 15 Seconds later, on the rooftop of the Chase Tower in downtown Sonic is the mighty ACA T-135 Siren, nicknamed by Sonicers "The Yellow Device." This is how Sonic got it's first siren (and only right now): 15 Years ago, Sonic was struck by an F4 tornado, they had no sirens. After the storm all cities needed sirens. Sonic's mayor asked a local siren fan. They pick the P-50, cost $25,000. Now they needed a site. 1 week later, they pick the roof of the bank building. A day later construction began on a special slab of concrete. A year later, construction was complete and the new siren was ready. Now Sonic had a siren. It was used several times and could be heard for 3 miles. Residents called it "Big Yellow Device." Today was the day the siren had it's weekly test (tested every Sunday). The operator had already opened the control box door and a funnel cloud was forming. When he was going to set the ignition switch to on a police officer came to him with an important notice. (it was written in cursive) It said: A Notice from the Sonic PD Sunday May 20 This week's test of Sonic's ACA T-135 Tornado Siren will be postponed. Reason: tornadic thunderstorms are in the area. Operate the siren in alert mode until the warning expires. So the siren was put into alert mode and heard for 3 miles. People in nearby cities heard the Sonic siren and took cover. A minute later, the funnel touched down. An EF2 tornado was in Sonic. It was on the ground for some minutes, hitting Southlands and New Warsaw before dissipating before crossing into Percy County. The storm was now moving towards Percy, which was 5 miles away. At 3:35 P.M., a new tornado warning for Percy County replaced the one that was in effect for Canton County. Meanwhile in Percy: Three residents, Lars Overdale, Bob Newbie and Becka Zabeth all watched in several ways: Lars was watching WPTE-TV which is a CBS affilliate that broadcasts on UHF Channel 25. It was going to show their Sunday Afternoon Movie: West Side Story. They combined several CBS movie bumpers from the 1970's which was very special. Well, before the MGM(-UA) logo could finish, it suddenly was interrupted by the E.A.S. (Emergency Alert System) which was now on almost every channel in Percy and Cumberland Counties. Bob was watching TWC. Becka watched PABC, which was simulcasting an interleague baseball game, when the E.A.S. came on. Each city has their own way of showing the E.A.S.: Percy First the program is taken the air with the S.A.M.E. header (E.A.S. starting tone). Followed by the E.A.S. animation and the E.B.S. tone and the E.A.S. ending tone, then the message. On some channels additional info follows after the message: weather safety. Then the station signs off and uses audio from SWR (SWS Weather Radio). They didn't use narriation for their E.A.S. messages. Sonic They used a different animation than that of Percy's (it flashed red and blue several times, giving some people seizures). Otherwise, same as Percy, including no narriation. Fort Lansing They used a black screen, used narriation, etc. It was different. the mayor, Dave Brockman called Sam Armstrong, police chief on his limo phone driving home from Best Buy buying a new DVD. Dave (on phone): Sam? This is Dave Brockman. The Sim Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for where I am right now and the storm will be here in a minimum of five minutes. Every single television and radio station here in Percy is still broadcasting about this deadly storm. You must turn on all our tornado sirens NOW! Sam, if you don't do it, after the storm passes I will take you to the Percy County courthouse, have you fined $5,000,000 for not listening to me, the mayor, you will be in jail for 120 days and after your time in jail you will be fired from your job. Will it convince you? Sam: All right. I will do that now. Dave: Good choice. Now hop to hit. Sam dashed to the computer that controlled every siren in the city (they could be turned on/off on via the computer at PPD HQ, by hand at the control box and by radio remote) The screen looked like this: SYSTEM INSPECTION: ALL SIRENS READY SELECT SIRENS: ALL MODE: ALERT DURATION: NON STOP, UNLESS CANCEL BUTTON IS PRESSED. SIRENS READY: SIRENS ARE READY, INSERT OPERATION CD-ROM AND PRESS ENTER KEY PROCESSING... PLEASE WAIT (2001 winds up) (2001 and all other sirens sounding) The process took 35 seconds and everybody heard the sirens (it was nice out, but getting slightly gray) and took cover (as you should when one hears the wail of a tornado siren). By now the storm was in Percy, the sky was very dark sea green, winds gusted to 60 MPH, lighting flashes occurred every 15-30 seconds and thunder was heard too. Next was the torrential rainfall and the basketball-sized hail, in a few cases flash flooding. Storm chasesrs were on I-50 near Fort Lansing when they saw a tornado forming. Fort Lansing was in the path and luckily they had sirens. The tornado caused a power outage in the city before moving on towards Percy. It was an EF2. In Percy Dave drove as fast as he can to his house downtown and went into his basement quick. Taking along with him his SWS Weather Radio with SAME technology. The tornado grew and soon became a violent storm - an EF4!!! The sirens were torn apart and flung across town. It was the worst thunderstorm ever to strike Percy. Thanks to the big Doppler Radar at SWS HQ in NYC, the doppler radar at Percy airport, the SWS in NYC and storm chasers, a warning was given in advance. The warning and E.A.S. helped to save lives. It lasted all afternoon. The next day Quandt president Mike Abrams declared Percy, Canton and Cumberland counties state of emergencies. He went to Sonic and Percy and took pictures of tornado damage. Then he took the pictures to the Severe Weather Center in NYC. They reviewed the damage photos. They rated the Sonic tornado an EF2. They rated the Percy tornado an EF4. A Nuke in NYC On September 11, Nick Mario decided to attack New York City. Thanks to him the downtown area looked very bleak and the city had to pay a price. If you lived in my city on that day, you would be advised to go to a fallout shelter. But it results in major congestion. The video above, EAS and all, simulates what you would see if you lived in NYC. Soon I will come out with "A Tornado in Percy" which will depict a tornado outbreak in Percy and other nearby cities and towns. It will feature an EAS and everything else to simulate what you would watch if you lived in Percy.

Information about Quandt New York City This is the national capital. It is in it's own county, the Quandt Legal County. Please, don't be afraid to watch this video: Now to a few stations: WADL-38 (Independent) This is the independent station serving the NYC market. This station is recieved as far as Fort Lansing. When their transmitter gets upgraded, Percy will be able to recieve it. WNET-13 (PBS) This is the PBS station serving the NYC market. This station is recieved as far as extreme northern Percy County. Sim Weather Service (SWS) NYC is home to the national headquarters of the SWS. This is where all weather info is recorded. The huge radar dish scans the country and can detect severe weather. Coverage range is all of Quandt, plus the closest bodies of water and the Quandt Nalton Islands. When conditions look favorable for severe weather, the SWS issues a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch. Meteorologists gather information from the radar, spotters and other sources and issue a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning in areas where severe weather is imminent. That information is then carried over to the Severe Weather Center, which then carries it over to a variety of means such as local radio and television stations and the internet. They are also broadcast over SWS Weather Radio transmitters serving the areas in danger. This year has been the worst postseason year for Detroit's teams. The Red Wings were defeated by San Jose after beating Phoenix in the first round. Meanwhile, the 2009-2010 NBA season is over for the Pistons.

The Tornado that struck New York City The time in the city was 3:00 P.M. sim daylight time. The Sim Weather Service (S.W.S.) has just issued a Tornado Watch for the Quandt Legal County effective until 11:00 P.M. By 6:00 it starting raining. Then came along the lightning, which struck the Chrysler Building downtown. The hail came along, by 6:30 the sky was dark green. Sam Armstrong the public safety advisor fell asleep and failed to turn on the many sirens across town (which included some Federal Signal 2001's (see picture), F.S. Thunderbolt 1003's and Whelen 2800's and Vortex) so I was forced to turn them all on and minutes later... A tornado touched down. It was an EF2 (see picture) with hail and rain. It passed through the downtown area (see screen shot). The storm passed through at 8:00. The local television stations had issued the E.A.S. (Emergency Alert System) and Armstrong, yelled at.
