Samerton's Retextures - Development and Support
IDK replied to Samerton's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Can you re-add the center concrete median? It seems highly unrealistic, and dangerous, to let traffic travel less than a few feet from each other going the opposite direction without a divider.- 21 Replies

#1 Alright, here's the deal, I've had SC4 for years and was running it on Wondows XP perfectly. I then thought it was time to upgrade, so I whent out and bought a great quad-core PC running Windows7. Now you'd think that with this new better computer, my game'd run twices as fast, but here's the part where you're wrong...It doesn't run at all. I can install it, run it, get to the region window, load a city, and, then, *POOF*, I get a crash with no error message. Im guessing, through the many other fourms I've read, that my graphics are "too good" but even on ther lowest settings I still get the crash. For once in my life I own a computer that's TOO GOOD to run a game. I've owned many PCs that weren't good enough to run games (Cities XL) but never one of this condition. I figure there isn't much to do since I can't downgrade my computer to make games work like how I could upgrade my PC like before. I just wanted to know if anyone had anything relating to this matter in the means of helping me find a way to run the game... BTW: How come no one ever uploads things for Cities XL? See #4

#4 Yay, I've gotten the best results yet! I can play the game fully, with little problems. BUT, there are still problems...such as, graphics glitches, and random freezes...what my game does is it will randomly freeze up and I can't use the Start key or Ctrl+Alt+Del to close it, I have to restart my PC by pressing and holding the power button. I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this (or these), and if so, please do share! BTW: I also get random crashes and crashes when zooming in and out.

#3 Ok, the game is running better but there's still lag and, for some reason, I have no nghtlights...running on hardwear, high settings on everything, and running on Windows Vista service pack 2 (because I have Windows 7 and Vista is the closest). Still have no idea to fix these problems...SC4 was never meant to be played on a PC as good as mine... See #4

#2 Im using Windows7 64-bit but I'll keep trying to get it working... Ok, I have a new problem, but first, the good news, using the game on software did allow the game to run. I entered my city and tryed to zoom out. But here comes the problem, It crashes on the zoom out. Im guessing the graphics are at fault since that's what's required to zoom out yet maintain a good image. Im looking for advice on this problem now...any and all help is appreciated. See #4

Ok, thanks you guys. I'd type more and thank you all individually but I just sprained my wrist so typing with one hand is nearly impossible. BTW: Even running in Windows XP mode, I still can't play the game. I don't even know why...
