Hey guys, since I saw Scotty222's building "Bank of America Plaza" I wanted to make a building from downtown Dallas as well. I live in Dallas, so that's another reason. Here are some thumbnail pics I have already. Tell me what you think Oh and the dimensions of this building aren't right yet, like I said, just a thumbnail Day night the real building

I can't find a pic of the BMU on google earth/bing maps. If you can find a pic of it, then I'll model it!
-
Thanks darn!! That helped alot, even though I don't have a pic right now to show you I don't know if I will stick with this "multicolor" look, I'll let you guys decide whether it should be this way or just different shades of yellow. The only reason I did multicolor is because alot of the real life photos of this building looks similar to this one. Anyway, Opinions!!! And roof..

Jason: Thanks for the LOD information!! I'll be testing that soon Still working on the lights, but this is the only light problem I've come in contact with so far These are both the same pic, just one's without the red markings. Is there a setting on the light I can turn on to cast shadows correctly? and where can I find it> See how the light is "bleeding" through the walls? Btw, I'm using a free photometric light Thanks guys!! Just a minor problem

T Wrecks: So render the building, plant 1, and plant 2 seperately (Each having their own LOD).Then put them all in the correct places in Lot editor?
-
What would be the problem having the plants? Im just asking
-
Nightlight Time!!!
-
darn42: like this?
-
darn42: Ok, I'll render a road around it, I had tried that earlier and it didn't look so good, but we'll see!
-
Yes!! We need a better version of the building!
-
Here are all the sides, if I don't get any other suggestions, I'm going to start working on the night lights.
-
Yes, that looks much better! The yellow top could be a little less dirty too, but I don't want to be too critical. The white top is perfect!!
-
skyscraper241: I know what you mean, but other people have suggested I make the reflections more undefined. I'll mess around with the ground plane more and see what will look best

This is looking Great so far!! You should try taking away that dirty texture at the top of the walls, It doesn't look that good in my opinion. If you want to know which would be better, post a render without the dirty top next to this one and see what other people have to say. The only reason it doesn't look that good is because all the other parts of the building have light weathering (a tad amount of dirtyness) while the top looks out-of-place by being more cruddy. I'm not sure if those 3 entries are going to be doors or open to the stairs, but those need work. And don't forget roof junk! lol Best of Luck on the rest of the BAT!!!

Here's a few suggestions 1. The curved parts of the track appear wider than the rest of the track, just look at the difference in length between the pink and blue lines. In real life the crane wouldn't be-able to travel across the curves, because it would get stuck. 2. The door's texture looks a little blurry compared to the rest of the scene and it makes the texture look slapped on there. I think the crane looks better Not hanging over the building in my opinion, but I guess it's a good idea to some people. The 4 smaller roof top textures could be a little more weathered. (Not as clean) Good luck on the rest of this project!!

It wouldn't hurt to add some small detail like a porch light, electrical box, and/or a vertical roof gutter that runs down a corner of the house (preferably the back). Maybe a back door? (If you don't already have one) Just some suggestions.
-
Any better?!
-
I hope to have it done by thanksgiving

Update!!! Like Jasoncw said, I made the noise maps bigger and put the bump strength to 0.03. I know there's something else I need to do to the glass, but I just can't put my finger on it. Any suggestions?! I'm still not quite done with the roof yet, but feel free to constructively criticize it as well. The plaza I'll work on last.
-
Ohh ok. Thanks man!! Do the textures I have look good so far? Im not saying im done.
-
Can I change the gamma right now? Or would I have to reinstall bat4max?
-
But isnt there a setting I can change to make it normal again? Like the original bat4max
-
Hey guys, I've got a little problem. 3ds max renders darker images of the building, but when I save the pic into my pictures and preview the pic from there, it's lighter. Don't worry about the rest of the building, it's hidden for a faster render. Also a sneak peek at the roof progress So does anyone know how to fix this?
-
Jasoncw: I'll follow your advice and post a result soon paulvmontfort: yes, I will be adding more (necessary) detail to the roof, Simfox gave me a lot to look at

Hey everyone, I'm sorry for being gone so long, my computer started having problems, so I saved my project onto a flash drive before I had to wipe out everything in my computer. By the time I got my computer up and running again, school and other stuff got in the way and I ended up not coming back to finish it. I had saved the model but forgot about the textures/pictures. I still have the noisy bump material for the windows but that's it. Anyways, I'm going to start working on it again! Here's what I have and I will get to all the errors Simfox and Sgt Pepper pointed out soon. I gave the building something to reflect in case you're wondering what it is.
