4889: I could never imagine living in a place where you can't get a park outside your house. I park on the street at my girlfriends house as their family have two cars and not enough room in the driveway for mine, but I park on the lawn at mine. Surprisingly, there's enough room at mine for four cars, a boat and a trailer!

4886: Do you leave your car on the street outside an apartment? I think I would hate finding a spot far way from my house. Not to mention I've had back luck with Street parking... I just park on the front lawn now.

I know that feeling. Kangaroos, possums, echidnas and sometimes foxes are all too common on the roads in my area.

2. English being my native language, and German which I speak at home on occasion (father is German but I grew up speaking English and only picked it up in my teens). Forget French, Italian, Chinese etc. What is one "unusual" or "uncommon" language you wouldn't mind learning?

Although I can't speak for Tonraq, I play windowed because it allows much easier access to background programs such as media players or internet, instead of having to minimise the screen.

That is awesome! I love the freight lines and the power lines paralleling it! And you have managed to work in suburbs close by without the interchange being too much of an obstruction! My hat is off!

Kids are going to do it regardless of their parents views. What would I rather, a child doing something I don't want them to, or a child doing that and ending up pregnant? Abstinence only sex-ed doesn't work, as kids might feel pressured into having sex (because all their friends have or whatever). So I think it's best to equip them with the knowledge of how to prevent spread of STIs or unwanted pregnancies. The prudish mentality needs to stop. On a side note regarding the article, critical thinking is a skill that definitely needs to be taught in schools. Don't just accept what is presented to you as fact, look up WHY it is so and of it makes any sense.- 7 Replies

4869: This is a bit different; the Murray River hasn't drifted away from the border (well it has in places), but the border at the time was defined so that all the river was in New South Wales. Bit odd since that region has more in common with Victoria and is closer to Melbourne than Sydney. On the plus side, we don't need to bother with land borders as we have none

Gosh, you get every kind of topic on here Nope, never played Sim City naked. I always put in clothing before jumping on the computer. I have enjoyed a beer or a glass of wine whilst playing, something relaxing about the whole thing. Sometimes I talk to myself, but usually it's more to verbal ideas of what to do, or to see if names sound good. I've also put my head in my hands and sat like that for a full minute and a half when I CTD and haven't saved in half an hour. -
Yeah, I had noticed that further inland the border seemed to be defined by a watershed divide. But if that's also how the near the coast part is supposed to be defined then it's very poorly implemented, since it should still be a continuous curve, not a series of straight lines. 4866: Unusual borders intrigue me. I imagine this border here is due to poor surveying techniques. The border between Victoria and NSW is mainly the Murray River, however it neither follows the median nor the main channel; all the river is in NSW (kinda how the Delaware - New Jersey border works. Oddly enough, the Victorian - SA borders and the SA-NSW borders were supposed to be running along the same meridian lone, but the Victorian border sticks about two kms in due to surveying errors. The ACT-NSW border includes in part, a railway line.

4863: Funnily enough, the boundary there is defined by a watershed running from that point. This kind of boundary would make more sense on higher ground, but not when the area is relatively flat.

Bit of an odd design. Have you played around with the RHW? Also I got a simple one here, but this was a deceptive pain to get working. Click the wrong thing and the highway would revert back to RHW and then having to practically start again took its toll. Yes I am aware this is a camera photo of a screen but I was texting a friend pictures and it was so much easier this way

4852: We have that problem here, but it is amplified by one side following DST and the other not. Gold Coast is a city about 80km south of Brisbane, mainly located in Queensland but the extreme south of it is located in New South Wales, with the border running down the middle of a street! So one side will have buses one one time, and the other not. It can be very confusing especially if you work on one side of the border and live on the other.

4849: Well, sort of. We have local government areas (mine covers both suburban fringe and vast swathes of mountainous forest) and these governments are responsible for things like garbage, local streets, etc. Most people in the metro see themselves as someone from Melbourne, not Knox or Yarra Ranges etc. The exception of course, is the city of Brisbane which covers about half the metro area, whereas the local Melbourne government only has 93,000 people. (there are cities on the outskirts that are bigger).

4846: Lol, East Brunswick is an inner North suburb of Melbourne (whereas I say suburb, I mean neighbourhood). The street that runs through it is our "Little Italy". I'm also tempted to draw up a little map of where the general ethnic areas are in Melbourne (definitely not in a racist way!) just to show you where people tend to settle. Of course it's not clear cut segregation, as places like Dandenong and surrounds have a melting pot of East Africans, Afghan, Lebanese etc where places like Oakleigh tend to be an established Greek area. Either way the food was great!
