My first crack at a city map. Its in the google maps style and I'm pretty proud of it considering the fact that this is my first time using photoshop for anything other than, well, photos.
-
sometimes the game throws that zot up there for no obvious reason. I've had huge sections of my city go under those, only for them to disappear after letting the sim run for 2-3 months.

I'd recommend building up instead of down. I'd do what MPD01605 said they tried because it will be the easiest an most effective method. You could also try rasing the ground up under the road (instead of the puzzle pieces) to create an embankment. Then if you place a bus stop on the road (at ground level) and then use a pedestrian mall (that goes up the embankment) you could force the raised road to be only busses. Please post pictures if you pull this off as I would like to see it!

I found a 767 prop pack over at SC4 devotion but I have no idea what to do with it. I'm using a mac so I can't use LE to make a lot. Have you guys considered releasing (or know where I can get) ploppable 767's? I just wish I could do it myself...

I found the 767 props but I have a mac and can't use the props in LE (because I can't get LE ). Is there a ploppable version anywhere?
-
where did bakercity get those 767's? They look like they should be in the new stuff from voltaire but they arn't. Any help is appreciated!

Sometimes after downloading something with alot of pieces I start a city in the middle of nowhere and just play around with the pieces and then exit without saving.

I'm wondering if some (or all) of the sluggishness you're seeing is due to the emulation under Rosetta. I've seen a few graphical anomalies myself, although most were negligible. I have a 1.25GHz power PC iMac and a 2.0GHz intel MacBook and neither is noticably faster than the other.

Is There a mod for stopping the funding problem ?
rodent1989 replied to timeline_9611's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
decrease the ambulance/bus funding (to 1/2 or even 0). That's what determines the number of people a particular building serves. By decreasing its radius you will also decrease the amt of incoming patients/students. -
In young cities I'll subsidize IHT completely by letting them live for free (0%) then after thousands of IHT businesses have set up shop, I'll raise their tax rates to about 6% to slow down the growth without completely eliminating demand. I'll also tax CS$ about 13% because its virtually impossible to ever satisfy all the demand for CS$, you'll make tons of money by taxing it hard.

Try seaching for "suicide lane," for some reason that sticks in my head.

Your mass transit probably won't have any at/over capacity stations until the population exceeds 100k. I don't normally expect any benefit from MT until about 50k.

No. Because the game relieves "Demand Caps" for commercial when an airport is placed. Demand caps do not overflow into neighboring cities. While the demand for commerce increases regionwide, you'll still need those shuttle lots to do their work "under the covers" or your demand will never fill itself. (Side note) Other structures that relieve commercial demand caps are the convention center, University and the TV studio.

I am clearly unable to uphold a big city...
rodent1989 replied to Snapp3r's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I agree with danwalker8, separating industry from residential and commercial is really the key to a good city. Pollution destroys land values as does the traffic from the trucks. I'd love to see some screens and hear some specifics if you get the time. -
now i understand the babbling about "Koby." Didn't put it all together until just now!

FYI this is the wrong forum. "General discussion" is where you want to be. I use a Mac so I hold down "option" when I open SC4 and it should gives me the option to play in a window. Hopefully its the same on PC!

Like a movie it should have five stars: 5-Flawless 4-Exceptional 3-Functional 2-Needs Work 1-Try Again 0-Not Functional Most lots would fall into the 3-4 range. Becuase the current 8-9 would become a 3 or 4 but the perfect five would be harder to give out.

I live in Minnesota, and the "Frontage Road" concept is quite different. It is never a one way, it is almost always a two way. Here ins Lakeville you can see the frontage road, "Kenrick Ave" servicing the 185th street exit. I use this exit every time I go to Target!

there is no "easy way" that I know of. basically zone the area and whenever the correct house grows, querey it and check "mark historical," then demolish all the other houses. Repeat this as many times as it takes to get exclusively the houses you want.
