I don't think it's a mod. It's almost certainly a wall pack of 1x1 park lots that you place manually on the slopes. Tedious, but looks really nice when it's all done.

The suburbs are all a bit fuzzy and nebulous and don't really relate to a defined area. Real estate agents are the only people who care about those things anyway! Search Google Maps for Bexley, OH. I never realized that suburbs defined in this way existed (you'll see what I mean,if you search Columbus, OH and note the borders).

Funny thing about that, I really didn't plan to have it have smack dab in the middle of downtown, it just sort of grew that way and I liked it there, so I left it where it was. I think every downtown should have one, just to add some greenery. Trying to keep EQ high so I will eventually have some mega skyscrapers. Keeping my fingers crossed on that. So I have to expect criticism every time I post, Metal? not sure i like that, makes me not want to post here anymore. Criticism isn't necessarily bad! I like to know what others think, then it's my choice wether or not to ignore what they say! What one considers "unrealistic" another may consider "unique." Just have an open mind, and remember that a lot of people read these threads and say nothing (usually, that's what I do). I read these threads to be inspired and steal ideas for my own cities.

This is my region I've been working on since about May 1st. The grid design is inspired by Southern Minneapolis and parts of Boise. The map is Death Valley (on the STEX). Anywhere that was flat is a grid, and once I got into the hills I started followed the features of the land as organically as possible. I really like how it looks so far and comments/critiques on realism and aesthetics are appreciated!

Okay, so after reading a few other LE threads I figured out that because my custom version was in a higher directory, it was loaded first, and then overwritten by the original version. Removing the original file fixed that problem. However, I still cannot re-size lots that are designated as airports. Can I create the lot I want, and then use the reader to change it to an airport lot (so it appears blue in the transit map)? Can someone point me to the thread I need to read to understand that process?- 79 Replies

Thanks for the reply IndianaJoe, and in the past when I've re-lotted things, that's exactly what happened. In this case, however, when I saved the re-lotted runway section it created a new file directly in Plugins. However, I cant find the lot in the LE and it doesn't appear anywhere in game.- 79 Replies

Re-Lotting RMIP: Can't Save As I was hoping to tweak some of the RMIP1 (Large Concrete Runways) textures but when I open them, I can't 'Save As' the lot and if I change the lot and save, it reverts to the original when placed in game. Does anybody know what's going on and what I can do to change these lots?- 79 Replies

Hey all, I am assuming this is a plugin issue, and I was hoping someone might suggest which plugins to start looking at since I have soooo many. Any thoughts? Is there an easy way to iterate through adding/removing plugins to narrow it down? -

Well, I fixed it so this fun monologue will stand as a "fix" for anyone else who encounters this. Set your graphics settings back to default, exit the game, then change all your settings back to what you want. Then just open each city and save again. -

Quick update, removing all my plugins didn't fix it... (see the weird city in the middle) which is weird because this only started happening recently and it only happens after I save a city. Any ideas? -
I have no experience with BAT'ing or lotting but I want to re-lot stadium to remove all parking and the trees from the open end of the stadium. With no experience, and no clue what I'm doing, but a willingness to read/follow directions is this feasible? I really have very little interest in MAKING anything, but being able to make tweaks for these sorts of situations would be really handy. P.S. By removing the parking and trees, ideally the resulting lot would have a smaller footprint.

Hey guys, I recently installed SC4 Deluxe on my new desktop and have re-built my plug-ins folder from scratch (my old SC4 was on a mac). I've noticed that most of the Maxis buildings are growing or being plopped without any parking lots appearing. So, I removed all my plugins and tried it again and still no parking lots. Any ideas on what could cause this to happen?

I like the idea that if I provide adequate services, my city/community will become more powerful and technologically advanced. On the flip side, my community can be a dirty, polluting industrial powerhouse even if I provide nothing.

More on EA/Maxis regarding the game always having to be online for the simulation to work properly.

What I wouldn't give for a Minecraft-like setup where I could host my own server if I wanted to. In fact, what I wouldn't give for all sorts of Minecraft-like things... I like SimCity, but I don't love it, and I just can't see myself playing it for as long or loving it as much as SC4. -
Perfect! So if I push the threshold out a few more tiles (which I intend to do by moving the ALS to the next city), it will be comparable to a typical urban runway which if I recall is usually about 3100m. Definitely waiting for the "heavy" runways to be released.

How long is one side of a large city tile? I thought it was either 2km or 4km but I don't recall. That said, I'm going to post some pictures of my airport very soon. EDIT: Didn't quite finish it tonight so a regional teaser will have to do. This airport serves a pretty big area, although the gaps aren't filled in just yet. I measured the main runway and it's 191 tiles long. Not knowing the conversion from tiles to meters, I'll leave that to someone here.

When placed these lots are showing up as blank "ramp" texture with only the plane prop. No ground clutter and no line markings are displayed. I suspect this is related to FileJuicer extraction of the files on a Mac and not being able to select a ground texture type during installation. Is a .zip version available? Can I simply delete certain .dat files manually to "select" a set? The file names are pretty meaningless so I can't do this myself.

as far as the actual calculations the game uses sims "travel" from one city tile to another by extrapolation of demand. A simple example: City A has 10,000 residents and 5,000 industrial jobs. That leaves 5,000 of city A's residents needing jobs. When you open City B, it will have an extra 5000 units of demand based on the residents of city A. When jobs are created in city B, it satisfies the demand in city A. Hope that makes sense. As far as the discrepancy of time between tiles, just think of the "year" as years from when the city is founded, not an actual independent timeline.
