It's been a while since I have posted anything, having spent some months with Cities Skylines. As much as I liked the modern features of that game, it still lacked the realism of SC4, so I started back with some relearning. Oakland is a small city located in an area of rolling hills, along the Clay River which got it's name due to the grayish color it becomes during spring run off. Currently the city has a population of about 22,000, and is the county seat and economic hub of the region. It started out as a transfer center for the three rail roads that intersect there. It continued as a transportation hub as roads were built. We join the city as two legs the National Turnpike System finishes are finished. Thanks - Dick Wright

A first look at the farming community of Coopersville.

Thanks for the visit - Dick Wright -
The most common parking lot set is the HH Modular Parking set. I comes with a variety of pieces including road connections. Let me know if this is what you were asking for. Thanks - Dick Wright

Heritage Square - our city's newest shopping center
rewright commented on rewright's City Journal Entry in Clay River Valley
The hardest part is that on the one hand I'd like to start with the whole region fully planted with tree, etc., but that takes so long I would never get to actually building the cities and towns. Here is one earlier shot, and one that was taken yesterday: Thanks for the visit Dick Wright -

Thank you. I like to keep the rail lines free of ground crossings if feasible. -
I was inactive for awhile and noticed my images were missing. Haven't had time to look into it. I'm happy you are enjoying the journal. I should be back by this weekend.

Thanks for the reply and kind words. I like to place some Telecommunication towers in a city, you always see them approaching real life cities. I will most definitely be using some of the ones you gave me links to! I work at an airport so I enjoy putting them together. Glad you like it. Dick Wright

After several months of playing Cities Skylines I wanted to get back to SC4 but my new Wiindows 10 machine would not let me launch it. I now play it through Steam but it crashed randomly. There is a program that fixes that by automatically shutting down some cores. Does anyone know the name of that program. I've forgotten it. Thanks, Dick Wright

The reason I am using Steam is the game will not recognize me as an administrator with SC4. Unfortunately is seems that SC4 Launcher does not work with Steam. Thanks again. I had been away from SC4 for several months with Cities Skylines, but it not yet where you can do the things possible with SC4.

I finally found the library, and using the link you gave me I inserted the code for a single core into the start up options. I played the game for about an hour without it crashing. Thank you very much for the help! Dick Wright

I have re-purchased the game through Steam with the same results. I can't seem to find a "library" selector there. My games are listed but right clicking on the SC4 listing does not bring up a "properties" choice. How do I navigate to the library in Steam? Thank you for your help! Dick Wright

What does this error code mean: Method not found: 'NetSegment.GetLeftAndRightLanes'. [System.MissingMethodException] Details: No details System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'NetSegment.GetLeftAndRightLanes'. at Improved_AI.CustomPathFind.PathFindImplementation (UInt32 unit, .PathUnit& data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at Improved_AI.CustomPathFind.PathFindThread () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 It happens as soon as I start a city, new or established. I know it must be saying I am missing something, which I must have had at one time. Thanks, Dick Wright

Thank you for the response. I don't use a traffic manager, but I've noticed that since about a week ago there must have been an upgrade to the game because I noticed a few new road types. Now some mods don't work, or don't show up in the content manager

At some point on Thursday (yesterday) I started getting an error when ever I tried to place anything on the map. I believe it started after an update as I see some new menu items now that were not there earlier in the day. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks, Dick Wright

I reinstalled the mods that are not working to no effect. The ones I know of area: Improved Assets Panel Terraform Tools Fine Road Heights Precision Engineering Extra Landscaping Tools This began when I noticed additional icons on the menu bar. I can't help but think there is some sort of conflict going on. Do you think reinstalling the game might help?
-
It may be, but only started when the new icons showed up. I will deactivate all mods and then add them one at a time.

You don't say what the error was. The link to your picture is broken/error. Here is a screeh shot of the message. It happens when I sellect an item and my cursor moves out on to the playing area. Thanks,

Education levels: never enough educated workers
rewright posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
I begin having a lack of educated workers when a city is around 5k, when low density commercial businesses begin to abandon because of a lack of enough educated workers. For instance, a city I am building now has 12K with 8 high capacity grade schools, two high schools, and a Jr. Collage, and an increased school budget. When I check demand, it shows each school category capacity in the plus but non eligible for collage, yet the collage itself has plenty of students. Most buildings show red in the education status screen. I end up having to rezone most of the low capacity commercial to office or high capacity. Thank in advance, Dick Wright -
Education levels: never enough educated workers

I have begun to realize that as I've watched graduation rates and education levels more closely. Demands change also once that happens. Thank you for your post!
