One of the things I love about NYC is the neiighborhoods, with the brownstones and row houses, and avenues lined with little shops. Nice work on Manhattan.

You've done an outstanding job creating these rural scenes, which have so much detail and realism in them. The use of dirt roads makes a big difference.

It really shows how well you plan your cities. When starting, I try to combine what starting layout will accomodate expansion, along with how some real towns I've been in are layed out. Update 29: Today we are looking at two areas of the city: a section of Fort Logan’s riverfront, and the Oak Hill section. With the replacement of the old water treatment plant and power station along the river, the city saw an opportunity to build the performing arts center citizens have wanted for a number of years. The center houses two main components: the performance hall and the play house theater. The complex also functions as a park and is popular with downtown workers. I was looking at Google Earth and one of the cities up in the Dakota's looked very similar. I wish there was a diagonal street intersection though. Update 28: A new animal sanctuary anchors this park which includes a number of recreational facilities. The city/county government is using portions of the local option tax to fund green space preservation. Some industry just south of the park. At 165,000 residents, the city is getting a bit of a skyline. By for now!

For instance, the master plan has options for a second gate complex paralell to the existing one. Update 27: Across the river from the city in Lansing (formerly West Fort Logan), a large park is developing along the river, in response to citizens desire for more parkland in the growing area. You've done a wonderful job of combining sububan sprawl with agriculural land. On thing that has stood out to me is your use of parkland. That really makes this region stand out.

Replies: wwetom1 Posted Today, 11:33 AM Great job on the airport! I've always thought about putting one in Stone Creek but it would take forever for me to learn how to make a good one like that. It really starts the smaller town feel that the rural small town update finishes. Yes, it's like my feeling about learning RHM. I like the look of the end result but I've used the stock system so long I hate to take the time that I could be building a region learning it. Update 25: Development is really moving northward into Hudson, along the transit and highway lines. Houses, apartments and commercial areas are springing up all over. By for now!

I know, there are a ton of little pieces, especially for ramp markings. I only use a few of them to get the "feel". The Maxis airports are just too unrealistic for me. Thanks for the visit! Update 24: Newberry is one of the little towns that surround Fort Logan, and are mainly agricultural. As the area grows these towns will grow too. Here is a little look around: The village center. Newberry's grade school and high school. Truck stop and hotel near the highway exit. The towns first apartment complex. A small industrial operation and farm store. By for now!

That is a neat looking town, with the little dirt alleys and diagonal buildings.

Update 23: Fort Logan-Greensboro County Airport has just completed it's new terminal, which is located across the runway from the old facility, and has plenty of room for expansion. It has 9 gates and a large terminal, short and long term parking and a rental car area. The airport has also been upgraded by the FAA to a catagory 2. Thirty five flights a day leave the field to six major hubs. By for now!

And I especially love the tease of the railyard in the top left corner. It looks so natural tucked between the industrial warehouses. Some constructive criticism: I think either the downtown commercial district needs to expand, or you need bigger apartment buildings around it. Right now the handful of skyscrapers seem to stick out. I'd either replace the 1x1 plazas, or re-lot them with a brighter base texture so they match those path and fountain pieces. I will continue following. Thanks for the input. I hope you like the changes to the downtown and civic center area. The city decided to take the advice of it's citizens and re-do the plaza areas. Update 22: As investment by businesses and incentives from local and state coffers have increased, the downtown has seen many new buildings. Here, the financial district continues to expand. The new civic center has been a big success, bringing in numerous events and meetings. One criticism has been the plaza areas. Folks felt they were too bare and stark, so they've been redone with more greenery. By for now!
