Metacritic user score 2.0 based on 1274 ratings
Vorret replied to Tramwhet's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I couldn't disagree with you more. I've gotten the general impression from various forums that gamers do take the user score of Metacritic more seriously than that of the professional gaming 'journalist' whose integrity is often suspect. There may be some fanboys that create multiple accounts but if a game is good and PLAYABLE, those fanboys would be countered by the scores of gamers who do enjoy the game. I was talking user score not review score. Review score is better than Gamerankings which is why it is taken seriously. Actualy now days fanboys are determined to make sure a game they don't like or a company they don't like gets a mediocre or negative user score on most sites. Fanboys are known for pettiness. Um, I know you were talking about user score? I just don't agree with dismissing the user score as simply being the work of a horde of angry fanboys. Welcome to the next gen, where hordes of Fanboys: Flood user scores on sites with negative ratings Raid forums of their "enemies" Hack games and companies to cause trouble Pirate games to "punish" companies Etc... Fanboys get worse each passing generation. They only do it to game that actually deserve it though, it's not "random attacks" -
lol awesome

This is utter heartbreaking.

Please tell me you are joking... That is the EXACT reason why companies are releasing game in beta state, untested with a crappy infrastructure to back it.... You are the reason why SimCity isn't working properly. You know where this started? Greed. Corporate greed, followed by consumer who suddently stopped caring about receiving a complete and working product and then we start making excuses, "Oh, it's an MMO of course there will be problem", "Creating a game cost alot of money they can't put everything in there right away" etc etc etc. It's not that long ago that you went to the store, bought a game, brought it home, installed it and BAM you could play. Now? Haha, buy the game, install, oh wait there's 5gb of patches you need to install. Wait... Server busy/down whatever. "Oh it's normal, it's launch day". Screw that, no more excuses, if you can't deliver a working product you deserve all the hate you receive. -
Your worst fears, TRUE! READ!

Not everyone is blessed to live in a country with decent paychecks and to afford 80 euros for a game. Sim City is 80 euros?!? Holy crap that's expensive... Buy it online in the US? -
Strange. I found Civ II was only good for fighting wars. It's all I did. Unlike III, IV or V. IV and V I rarely if ever fight in any wars, and with V, it is most enjoyable doing a science or cultural victory. This.... You have so many peacefull options in Civ4 and 5. Civ5 with Warlord and BTS is a masterpiece. Civ 5 is getting there. edit: And I LOVED Civ2 it's the first game I bought with my own money, I had it and had no computer to play it (our computer had no CD drive!). Had to wait for my mom to buy a new one, I read that manual so many times... ahh memories

It doesn't sell as well because it's a bad game, designed for console and ported to PC with an old 2004 engine. It's like NHL, we're stuck with a stupid old engine, why would I pay for that? BF3 sold plenty of copies because it was designed with PC in mind first and you can FEEL it when you play the game. One of my co-worker plays X-box game weeks before they are released and he's not alone, there's plenty of it on console, but as I said, it's not as easy as it is on PC but PC sales have NOTHING to do with piracy, a good game will get good sales and a bad game will get bad sales they only use the piracy excuse to try and hide the fact that their game sucks. -

Kiddy pirate? Come on now, piracy is as rampant on console its simply easier on pc. Oh and PC games sells perfectly fine IF they are good. PC gamers have standard, we don't buy COD 4.4 in masses like console players. Developers though they could get away with bad games or console port and they were wrong, easy way to fix is to blame piracy. -
Simcity reviews are in: the embargo is lifted!
Vorret replied to Xenocity's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Lots of bugs, hopefully they'll be fixed by release (or half of them at least!). I'm gonna wait until the "beta" is done, few patches/DLC are out before buying lol
