  1. Hi all, If two or more cities have water between them, is there any way to connect them using a bridge? If not, which, if any, transport connections are available. Many thanks, Steve.
  2. Hi all, I'm looking for advice please regarding the creation of my own custom city/region, or where to find a suitable one that has already been created. I like to work with flat land, with a coast suitable for beaches, seaports, etc. Recently, I've been looking to add rivers. I know the absolute basics of creating a custom config.bmp file and the basics of terraforming within the game but I have struggled to understand more advanced terraforming. I normally create a regular sized region with a cooastline across the top. I do this by opening each of the top row cities in turn and lowering the land and then saving the city. I then reconcile the edges of the cities along the second row to create beaches. The region usually has a mixture of large, medium and small cities, with medium cities across the top row which are lowered to form the sea. I'm just wondering if there is an easier way to do this with one of the terraforming tools? Apart from the ocean/beaches I would also like to be able to create at least one river, maybe a few rivers that travel through all the large, maybe medium cities? Looking for the easiest terraforming tool to use for this, or perhaps a region matching my description that has already been created? Many thanks for your help. Kind regards, Steve.
  3. Hi all, Is there an easy way to find the centre/middle of a city? Just wondering if there is a download to do this or if anyone has any tips? Many thanks, Steve.
  4. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hi all, Can someone please point me in the direction of a small, ideally 1x1 power plant which can be placed within or adjacent to any type of zone, R, C, or I without any NIMBY, polution or other negative effects? Many thanks, Steve.
  5. Hi all, Could someone tell me please what is the difference between the two plugin folders - the one in Program Files and the one in My Documents. Are there any specific circumstances where I should use one folder rather than the other? Many thanks, Steve.
  6. Hi all, Does anyone know if this graphics card would be okay for SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition? It's a Matrox G550 with 32MB memory. Link - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260313717320&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 Many thanks, Steve.
  7. Many thanks for all the replies and sorry for taking so long to respond. Would this integrated graphics on this motherboard be up to running SC4DE? It's an ASUS M2N68-CM with nVIDIA GeForce 7 series integrated graphics. I've checked how much shared memory is allocated for graphics in the BIOS. I have two choices on this motherboard - 1MB and 8MB, which is the maximum. The system is configured for 8MB graphics memory, which is the factory default. Does this mean that I definately need a new motherboard? My usual supplier is Power Computing (UK) - www.powerc.com. They offer a barebones build with an ASUS M2N68-AM - http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=2474&l1=3&l2=149&l3=642&l4=0 - the next model up for the motherboard is an additional £20. Would this motherboard be okay? Would the integrated graphics be sufficient? Would my current memory work with this board? The processor I would probably choose from their list is the AMD Athlon 5000+ X2 Dual Core 2.6GHz. Their standard case includes a 400W PSU - would this be enough? This kit - including the case/power supply, motherboard and processor is £115. Is this okay? Many thanks, Steve.
  9. Hi all, At the moment, my current PC doesn't run SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition very well. It's an entry-level Dell Dimension 3100 PC which I inherited when my Nan passed away a few months ago. I'm thinking about buying a bare-bones PC kit - which I have done before - and transferring the drives across. I need to keep costs down as I'm on state benefits due to health problems but would dearly love to play SC4 again. The basic spec of my current PC is as follows (I can provide more detailed information if necessary. The main problem is that the motherboard has integrated graphics, but doesn't have a graphics card slot as such - only legacy PCI and PCI Express x1 - no AGP or PCI Express x16. The processor is a 2.6Ghz Intel Celeron single core. I have 2GB of dual channel DDR2 memory. The graphics memory I think is 4GB shared memory. My O/S is Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3. I was thinking about buying a basic bare-bones kit - something along the lines of an AMD Athlon X2 in the 3Ghz ballpark and keeping my current memory and drives - so I would be looking to buy a case, power supply, motherboard, processor and cooling preassembled and install the memory and drives myself with a view to adding more memory and upgrading the 80GB HDD later. Ideally, I would be able to buy a motherboard with good enough integrated graphics to run SC4 - if not any graphics card suggestions gratefully appriciated. My budget is quite low so I'm looking at the entry level end of the market, or slightly higher. Any recommendations/suggestions gratefully appriciated. Regards, Steve.
  10. Yeah they're still there many years later. Could it be something to do with traffic issues?
  11. Hi all, I've recently despatched police and the fire plane to two different incidents. But when the incidents have been dealt with there is like this police/fire pole left behind with a flashing light on the top. The pole remains even after demolision and de-zoning. I hope I have explained the problem okay - not sure what these "poles" are called or if they have a specific purpose. Am i missing something or is this a glitch in the game? Many thanks, Steve.
  12. I've just noticed the same problem - same region, different city - whilst placing water facilities - any existing water facilities turn bright green when placing other water facilities nearby. If you change to place a different item, like a road or change the view the water buildings return to normal.
  13. Would you believe it - I've just loaded up the city in question and the elementary school appears fine now.
  14. It's the default/standard Maxis elementary school you get when you first install the game (SC4DE). Might be a long-shot but I'll also try demolishing the school, saving, reloading and re-building the school - just a thought. Steve.
  15. I forgot to mention - I tried demolishing and re-building the school in the same location but the school was bright green again. I created a new region with a small residential zone, power, water and an elementary school which appeared fine. I will try going back to the original region/city and building another elementary school to see what happens. Steve.
