nice update. I've just been to essen-zentrum a few hours ago and I must say that your work is incredibly realistic. could you please give me a link to the bat you use for the rwe tower? thanks in advance.

Originally posted by: Chinimick ok this is a bit hard to explainIn Brisbane, we have special roadways closed off for buses only. These roadways also include stations called "Busway Stations". I know its possible to make the busway part using the HOV lane mod. I am requesting that someone could make bus stations for elevated roadway, and one for ground roadway. Some pics of bus stations: What I am thinking of is something like the standard elevated rail station, but with a roadway going through it and having buses using it. It could also be modified for ground use, or even sunken roadways. This would, of course, require the NAM to work quote> Not only Brisbane has that kind of transportation system. Oberhausen, Germany has a similar kind of the thing that you explained. The only difference is: On these trails there are trams as well. but It would be a really great idea. Here is an example of how it looks in Oberhausen:

what more can I say? the region is simply amazing and don't worry about the accuracy in duisburg. all these fuzzy little roads round here are quite impossible to recreate in sc4

Show us your home cities waterways!!!

well in my town duisburg there is the biggest river harbour in the world (or the 2nd largest, I can't remember anymore): -
here goes another example for the anti-grid. the city is far from finished so don't complain about some unaestheticities.

it may not be as professional as the rail networks of ill tonkso and andreas roth but I love using regular rail as a the main transit system. as you can see it even looks aesthetic in rocky residential areas. and it even takes its effect. this area counts 30.000 inhabitants and 20.000 already use the rail.

very great work. is the "stau" on the "autobahn" real or do you use a mod? well anyways the water here ain't as green as in your game

I usually have one or two big cities in one bigger region. the largest city I've ever build took 12 large city sqares. besides that small towns are nice to play as well

I really like the conventional old school rail. it's a very nice commute method and with the right eyecandy around the rails the rail tracks can look beautiful and realistic at the same time. In one town of mine I have a big rail artery heading straight through downtown but the clue is: I used the hole digging lots so the only thing that takes space is the main rail station and the short parts of the tracks before they get tunnelled. I combine this rail system with a big subway system that goes up to the daylight in the suburbs. I never use GLR because of the stupid plopping and the massive errors. I'm a big fan of the HSRP, too. I have a massive network all over my region being very useful. the only stupid thing that this HSR is very hard to drag through hilly terrain. so it sometimes takes a whole hour to drag the HSR through such a terrain.

this reminds me so much at the old days when I used to play SC2K. awesome

not a really professional airport but a beautiful pic though. here it is:
-
very beautiful pictures... even though I live there I've only rarely seen the local industry in so much beauty

here goes the landschaftspark: it seems like the landschaftspark would be on the edge of your map... unfortunately... but don't mind. it's just an old steelwork and it looks not so impressive at daytime... the nightlighting would be the interesting part about this baby and this would be a hard job to manage. I don't think that you are interested in making nightlightings for a industrial site with gmax for hours... besides that the duisburg you developed looks as realistic as it can be in sim city. this must have been a huge work. unfortunately we can't recreate real-life transit networks that good because of all the squares only allowing orthogonal and diagonal. keep your good work up

and don't forget the most known artistic industrial site in the ruhrgebiet, the landschaftspark nord in duisburg meiderich: EDIT: sorry, I forgot to mention that you're doing a very great job

Unfriendly Rivalries between cities
xgriffinx replied to chix4free's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Gelsenkirchen vs. Dortmund, Germany. a very old ruhrgebiet-rivalry mainly based on football/soccer issues. the clubs schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund hate each other terribly. -
new new york... reminds me at futurama
