nice airports everyone! I should probably study up on them to create my own =) Does anyone have any certain airport pack suggestions?

Thinboy66: Wow, that's huge! Very well done. Just being curious, why did you add that extra MIS lane at the corner (leftish-center of pic)? It seems that commuters would abandon the main section of highway as that is an obvious short cut. Patricius Maximus: Once again, those are some nice exchanges! Personally I think the avenue overpass in the middle (second to last pic) might have been better as a tunnel (mainly b/c it's easier to build =P), but other than that it looks quite good. As for the last pic, it would be quite a bit easier to read if u could stop the lines when coming to a bridge (meaning don't draw over the bridge).

hey, just chill out. What you need to do is go through your most recently downloaded files, check the readmes, make sure everything's there, and then play the game to see if the changes u made worked.

First of all, what are you spending the money on? Is it really necessary at your stage of development? I can make an easy $3000-$4000 income by not spending my money on many services. I will have lots of R$ that way, but it turn a good profit. You do have a quite stable income, so check out your RCI indicator. If you think the time is right you can start zoning higher density, but you may need to provide more of the services you already have. If there's a very high demand, raising taxes just a little bit might also not be that bad of an idea...

Please help me, my city has gone down the toilet!!!!!
City2TheMax replied to ahmede19's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
could it be b/c of a lack of commercial? It looks like you've got quite a bit of commercial demand. It could possibly be a demand cap too, just add some parks. -
why arent sims using the highway?
City2TheMax replied to jtgasv's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
unless you have the NAM which helps fix that, I believe -
Hi everyone! I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere else... Anyways, it seems that a lot of times people want to get to the hi-tech industries and $$$ citizens as their goal. But is this really the best way to go? If all taxes are set at a certain percent, do hi-tech industries and $$$ citizens really bring in that more money? First of all they take up a lot of room where $ citizens don't. It's akso much easier to sustain $ citizens as you don't have to provide many services - in fact usually you don't need to provide any services, which leaves you with low expenditures. Just thought I'd throw that out there and see what people think.

^^ That's how I usually start it off. After the farming village has been created go on right ahead to the 1X1's They do not restrict $$ from moving in though.

Thanks for the feedback Rusty! I used the effects on these pictures to sort of set the mood. In most cases I don't use them, so I will probably refrain from them (except in my CJ). Usually I use 1X1 lots, but when studying some of the Los Angeles neighborhoods and how everything is spaced out, I thought this would be slightly more realistic. However the houses aren't scaled right so everything looks a lot denser... But I do agree, maybe something else behind those houses would look better!

I would be satisfied with ploppable over-water puzzle-pieces, which would allow intersections and stuff...

Once again, cool interchanges everyone! I decided to play around with a different kind of exchange, where I used collector lanes as the actual exchange. The main highway lanes keep going through. I was hoping it would look a little bit more uniform, but some miscalculations had me change a few things (mainly the windy one way roads). It is still very functional!

Another thing that increases commute time is heavy traffic - check your traffic indicator and make changes such as more mass transit or bigger roads. I have suffered very, very little abandonment by simply making bigger roads.

As a side question (sorry Yucan, but I don't think its worth it to start a whole new thread), what is mayor rating good for? What's the point? If it doesn't really matter then I don't think you need to worry too much about it, although your situation is a bit odd. Then again something like adding a new airport might just push the mayor rating the other way

REPLIES tigerplayer91: Everything will be told in time... =) jacqulina: Thanks! Benedict: haha, thanks! Briantwigley: Well I hope this wasn't too long of a wait =/ Goldfish4209: Thanks! Zarp: haha, sorry Roboo1: True, details can take time... anyways here it is =) UPDATE 5 I'm really sorry, some things came up. But I'm back and ready to entertain you =) This update won't have as many pictures but more storyline... it's not gonna be a big update but more of a set up for bigger updates. Hope you like it! Hey ese, glad you could stop by. Some stuff's happened and I can't remember a thing. I woke up this morning outside of my home with an empty liquor bottle in one hand, laying on the yard. Yeah, you say that would explain everything, except that I haven't had liquor since I was 19 years old. some fool out there was trying to set me up, but I don't know who. I remember being in the highschool building, but that's it. I've been away from my barrio for a few days now, but everything's still tight. I haven't showed you a picture of my home vato, no? Here it is: As José was walking into his home, he got an anonymous phone call. He picked up his cell phone, and the other line simply said: "Go to 508 Casianta street, come along. We are watching you." "Who the hell is this, ese? You set me up?" *beep* the caller hung up. José, having nothing better to do, hopped in his car and drove over to 508 Casianta street, which was in the West Side industrial district He arrived there in about half an hour. It was an old abandoned factory. No cars where there, so he checked the address again. It was correct. He walked up to the doors to find them unlocked. Immdiately after stepping inside he was seized and blindfolded. He woke up another half hour later, only to be looking into the face of a good friend, John "What the hell... John Caréz, is that you vato?" "Yeah, it's me. Look I gotta explain some stuff to -" "What is all this?" "You're in an old factory. This is my brother's crack house, which is why we sedated you. We would've been in even bigger trouble if you were a cop or something." "Even bigger trouble?" "Look, I am an agent for Mid-Valley. I was behind the nuclear power plant operation, and somehow they found out! When I got home yesterday there were cops looting my home, so I had to escape. I can't get past the borders, and can't communicate with Mid-Valley. I need you to get out there and get some help, otherwise we're both screwed." "Why me, ese? I need to get home man, I got people depending on me." "Weren't you wondering about that liquor bottle? The cops set you up to it. They tried to get information from you, and gave you one of those memory pills that made you forget everything. I don't know what information or how much they got, so you gotta get this thing done fast." "But if they know I got information why would they let me out?" "'Cause they probably got everything they need. Look man, chill here for now. I'll get back to you." I sat there on the couch, trying to sort stuff out. Then I remembered a little bit of something that had to do with the cops. It was some kind of apartment in West City. That was all I remembered. After that I dozed off into another sleep, probably an after effect of the sedatives...

I just changed the regular speed of one ways to accomadate regular highway traffic. This works just as fine if not better. quote> First of all, cool suburbs Rusty and Selles! Secondly, how do you change the speeds? I know it has to be part of the code or another program...

Hey seven_simz! First off, never think badly of yourself. Being able to build a successful city like you describe is a skill that needs to be developed; even I have never achieved such large buildings! Please don't regard me as judgmental or anything: I believe that you are quite impatient with your cities. It appears that you will build a lot in a short amount of time, which leads to higher maintenance costs, and eventually bankruptcy. It seems like the best solution to your problem, with the information you have provided, is to just slow down. Build up your residential/commercial/industrial first. Don't build civic buildings immediately! Wait until you have enough income and your city really demands it. This way you can assure getting positive income. You can build quite large cities that operate without civic buildings, which is good for getting a good income base going. From there you just have to take it slowly: expand, grow, please your citizens. If you could post some data and pictures from one of these cities it would really help us analyze and fix your dilemma. Guides and FAQ's are great sources of information, but every city builder and every city is different. I hope this helps!

I just don't understand the incentive behind doing this. What would drive them to make this decision? I mean they risk their education, their baby's health, their own health, and a bunch of other stuff... Even if these consequences didn't exist, it's still such an absurd thing.
