I did see some trains in one of the trailers in the official site. Or is that not for single-player?

The CitiesXL Plan - why not to dis Monte Cristo

Wealthy jobs but few wealthy residents?
Henry Midfield replied to Pengwuino's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Can I also drop something? The High-wealth jobs are actually misleading: You still need mid/low-wealth citizens to fill in a high-wealth building. Think of them as janitors, or a newbie worker, which is needed in every office. So I am afraid that there is not much way to get around it. As far as I know, CO$$$ is the one that creates the most jobs for high-wealth citizens, but even then that is around 15% of all potential jobs. (However, I don't think they create many jobs for low-wealth citizens, so you could go with creating lots of CO$$$. You'll still need a lot of mid-wealth citizens though.) Anyway, you may be able to create a city with only high-wealth sims, but you still need to have low/mid-wealth citizens somewhere else in the region. -

New theory: Abandonment of high-wealth residents
Henry Midfield replied to Bones1's topic in SC4 Showcase
In a different site, I remember reading that even with CO$$$, they can only give a scanty amount (15% of all workplaces) of high-paying jobs. The rest are for R$ (20%) and R$$ (65%). CS$$$ is even worse; only 8% of all jobs actually go to R$$$ people (R$: 62%, and R$$: 30%). As for I-HT, it is R$$$: 10%, R$$: 80%, and R$: 10%. Thus, even with just CO$$$, CS$$$, and I-HT, you can only have a scanty amount of R$$$; you still need significant amounts of R$ and R$$ people. Although it's in Japanese, I've found the site: http://homepage2.nifty.com/kamurai/simcity/koyoumondai.htm#situgyou -

Nobody can take anything with a pinch of salt these days, everything is offensive to everyone.quote> Especially considering that it's not always people from the Middle East who does terrorism. Italy suffered from terrorism during the 1970s-80s, and it was done by their own people, the neo-Fascists. Japan (where I am from) has its own share of extreme-right terrorists too, called the uyoku. Anyway, back on topic. Yes, I think we need some man-made disasters too. Could we have a car chase, or a major traffic accident? Or if we cut the road/rail funding too much, then bridges collapsing, or rail derailments.

What Wrong With The Grid-System?
Henry Midfield replied to Maxis92's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I remember a family friend mentioning how Adelaide (where she now lives) and Melbourne, with it's grid network is easy to navigate around, but Sydney and Tokyo (her hometown), which it is less grid-like is an absolute nightmare for her. I would feel the same way; I won't be able to survive without a map in Sydney. Tokyo's even worse considering that many of the smaller streets do not even have names, so I have absolutely no idea where the postal adress is located! The streets of Paris/London are lovely, though. Shame that there are limitations in computer programming and memory...I hope CitiesXL would accomodate buildings in oddly-shaped roads... I think it is a matter of knowing where and when to use each layout, and how to deal with them... -
It's hard for me to tell, really. On one hand I enjoyed living in the suburbs of San Fran, with the clean air and stuff. But having to travel by car to different places which are all spread out isn't really my favourite kind of transport, and of course, it may not be such a good place to live, global environment-wise. On the other hand, I enjoyed the convenience and the close communities that I had in my old home in central Tokyo. But I don't really like how things are way too closely packed together, or let's say claustophobic, especially when you're in an earthquake-prone area. I would like something more balanced out. Maybe a suburb, which is more like a small city, with many one/two-storey buildings, but with various multi-story buildings as well, and being able to ride a tram to the nearest train station.

When I installed my CL into my notebook, I can't load the game; it always show an error screen similar to "An error has occured and we must close this application." and the game freezes. Has this got to do something with my CL as well?

For me, it is... Transportation: As for jrhnemo, but Bridges: - No more terraforming the land just to attain the appropriate bridge altitude for the ships to pass below; Why can't the entire bridge rest on concrete/steel) supports extended from the ground? Subways: - Stations must be realistic and not have just only one tile. There should be flexibility in the platform length and numbers. The stations should be extendable with editable platforms/exit points and additional platforms being able to be added to the existing station. - There should be optional grade seperation of the rails as well. Trains: In regards to train stations, there should be flexibility as well; extendable stations. Also the train station and the subway station should be able to be integrated into a big terminal. Airports: Bigger airports should serve several other cities or even the whole province/prefecture/state and not just one city. Furthermore, National/International Airports should be owned by the nation (or at least by the province/state) and there should be revenues coming into the city, as there are air pollution, crime, and noise issues. - Landing Strip: serves the city - Municipal Airport: serves the city, any cities that are two tiles away, and any cities that has an airport - National Airport: serves the city, any cities that are five tiles away, and any other cities that are affected by airports - International Airport: serves the whole region Budget: Utility Infrastructure: Power stations should be paid by the province/state/nation; not by the city! This is one thing that I have taken exception... Get back to S3k and just only pay the initial cost. (Or at least make the users pay for the usage to the city.) For polluting power stations, I would rather have the city recieve income from the state/province/nation. As for water works, the province should pay the maintainance, while the cost is covered by the users (citizens). Also all perishable utility buildings should have an auto-replace feature that enables to automatically replace any old utility buildings with conditions set by the player, (eg every 30/50/etc. years, when the conditions dips below a certain percentage)

No, at least not right away. Well, I was really going to say YES!, but I don't think my laptop computer can handle the game... Shame, really...
