Some new interchanges from me, most of them are standard designs. Sorry, no grandes complications today. Normally not really a fan of cloverleaves because of the weaving, I nonetheless like the design of them. So here we go: Not quite as symmetrical as before, but this one is completely de-weaved instead: A 2-quadrant cloverstack with a narrow footprint. Not meant for heavy traffic though: Diagonal Pinavia style: A simple T-interchange that I like for its FARHW branch: While we are at FA: Not a full interchange this time, but a junction with a local network: And last but not least, a windmill:

mmm.. ok.. just one more ...and anyone who hates BATed ground and lots, look away now, this will tip you over the edge Elavery - no, I don't think lotters can add people to this BAT, I thought you could only add props to lots? There won't be any lot with this BAT, its effectively a W2W. However, I can add tourists into the BAT: Odainsaker: Great images Your post has prompted me that I haven't included any of the touristy stuff around the viewing platform.. so as well as a bank of lights and tourists, I've added tourist information boards, commemorative plaques, rubbish bins and directional signs. Hopes this helps to give it a bit more of a lived-in look. Not everyone is going to like the BATed people frozen in time.. let me know what you think? Ps. Thanks everyone who has commented so far Edit: Here's a couple of in-game shots as well. (The statue is rendered separately as a prop)

Ok, a serious post this time. Here's an updated day render and new night render. I'm trying to go for that ethereal glow the statue seems to have at night. The problem is the flood lights are coming out of nowhere. I haven't quite worked out what to do about this. I don't want to put those ugly banks of stadium lights like in RL and I don't really have room for it on the lot anyway. I might just put in some large spotlights so its not completely devoid of a light source. Twrecks - that sounds like more effort than I can be bothered with . If someone knows how to do this and wants to help with modding then please let me know Edit: Another option might just be to release the statue and plinth as a standalone separate BAT. Lotters can do what they like with it then

In the effort to combat the glut of 3x2 office buildings that seem to plague our downtown commercial business districts, I've been turning my thoughts toward that task. I have kicked a few around in my fleeting moments of free time, but this little fellow is the first to make it through the majority of modelling and texturing. There are a few more 2x2 ones for me to finish...mostly ones that I didn't want to tackle the nightlighting...

Ok, here's a HD zoom of Cristo Redentor. This will probably be my last update of him, I think he's ready unless there's any other feedback? Please note, I've scaled everything up 133% and he came out like spaghetti man, so I compensated by making him wider. It took a few goes, I think this looks right but let me know if he still looks stretched or squashed... I've decided not to pursue the custom foundation, but I will export the statue and plinth as a separate model/prop. Aaron, thanks for the tree settings, the best part was the Colour Correction diffuse map. I've never seen this before, its a million times more simple than trying to tweak materials in Photoshop! I wish I knew about this before. Thanks I'm pretty happy with these tree colours now, they look a lot more SC4 friendly. Apart from the folk that want them removed altogether no one has commented on the leaves so I'll take that as good news. Anyway, they have the AG seal of approval, that's good enough for me . Ok.. speak now... or forever hold your peace Time for something new

Thanks everyone!! Here's an update on Design Research HQ, which has had more of the sunken level BATed. That area is hard to see in street view and in photos, but I've managed to find enough reference material to get it to be close. I've also added in some ground to help you understand the levels better. And also on Porto Ponto Negra Residence, which I've added swoopy bits to, and worked on the penthouse.

zzzzzzzz.... I tried it out and it's been applied on this building. But I did keep the render filter on Lanczos, purely because Mitchell's gave a very blurred effect in comparison to Lanczos filter. I don't know why, but I wasn't too fond of the lack in sharpness. But the other settings seemed to have made the shadows a lot more accurate. Also, can someone give me a heads up on a good floral generator? The ones on Max are okay, but they're not as good as I've see on everyone else's BATs (Aaron, Reddon )

The Standalone Flora Brush will cover an entire large city at once so all you need to do is hold the mouse button (or even lock it if possible). Also see this post (below the replies) for even more fun planting seasonal flora. Yes! Thanks a bunch for those links Vortext. Thanks Moerp, City_Master, Huston. And dude, thats an awesome building! <- wants it. EDIT: On Vortext's suggestion I've installed the Standalone Flora Brush mod and it has made ALL the difference, I also learned how to use Mouse Lock feature in Windows from his other link to make the process even easier, and to boot, I just discovered something sweet: If I open a city tile in SC4, zoom out to max, select tree brush, center my pointer, click and hold (with mouse lock on this will lock the click in place) at this point I can ALT-Tab to internet browser and guess what? Simcity doesnt care, it thinks I'm still in its window holding down mouse button!! Tree planting continues merrily in the background, after I'm done reading whatever, I go back to simcity and move on to the next tile! YES! (Did a whole tile while writing this!) Maybe it won't take that long after all. Progress with this method so far this morning (Jan 25): UPDATE Jan 26: Another day of Foresting.... *pant* UPDATE 2 (Jan 27th): FINISHED! Woooo.

I'll try to take in some ideas from them, but most of my inspirations will lie to Mass Effect's version of Vancouver (which is quite the mix of present styles (current buildings) and futuristic-reminescent designs). It is an Mass Effect BAT thread THIS BUILDING IS ONLY FUELING PROBLEMS. (IT TOOK SOOOOOOOOOO LONG). I'm just getting use to curved bldgs but my gawd, trying to get the frames done one by one is tedious. Especially on an uneven surface. (Not yet scaled to 133%)

One of my favourite parts of Broadsville's industrial area. Wherever possible extend lots with fillers. Grunge tracks are God darn sexy! I realised that these grunge concrete tracks remind me of those alleyways in suburban Los Angeles and in other American cities. There is something very appealing about their ugliness- that is the grunge concrete tracks. jestarr's marvellous BATs and LOTs. /// Part 2 of the tour will be posted this Friday. Ever since I came back to Simcity 4 late last year I've been searching and testing in my quest for that specific look and feel I want to achieve in my regions. Having a lousy Intel HD Graphics onboard video controller doesnt help either, as I can't use any of the wonderful new HD content. After playing with Columbus terrain and trees for a while, last night I thought I'd take the terrain horse for a ride again and started trying options I had overlooked last time around. This is what I've achieved after a day of tinkering, all images taken on 1st Sept SimDate just after planting forest. I must say I REALLY like this, probably not everyone's cup of tea, but wow, just wow. Compared to anything else I had achieved, this is just pure awesome. This is the Cascadia Tree Controller and CPT Meadowshire Terrain Mod, along with RVT Coastal Mod. I've tweaked the Terrain Parameters exemplar extensively to get the right amount of snow for this region, as well as adjusting Water settings in various ways. The Estuary The Bay The Vale Coastline Detail You wouldn't believe how happy I am right now lol. Now, how long do you think it will take me to plant this whole region with trees? Weeks I wager, I so wish there was a tool to auto-plant whole tile to max capacity easily.. Done two tiles out of...... 13x13 Large tiles..... *gulp* 169.... eew. Wow see you in 2020. Ha. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the pictures, cheers. by the way, that's Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky region if you were wondering.

Current Project : - Nuuk W2W Residentials: Future Projects: - Nuuk Houses - Nuuk Airport First post of the thread: First of all I don't know how to work with 3dsmax, gmax, sketchup, nothing. But I wanted to make something of my own, and I decided I'll recreate Greenland in SimCity because : 1 - It's gorgeous 2 - Simple buildings, easier to model. So I decided i'd start with something really simple, a W2W house, based in a real one in Nuuk: I looked up some tutorials online, and got the real basics. The result is below. It's very rudimentary, and I need new window textures. Also, ignore the lot, it's just a test. There's a small glitch with a window at the the back view but it goes away in zoom 4 and 6. So, my plan now is to replace the textures and place night lights. If I'm successful, I plan to do some variations on this building and hopefully model a few other ones. Anyway, I appreciate any help/advice because I definitely need it.

243 Mount Eden Parkway (A SimCoug Request) Here's an update on the row detached house, I still have more to do on the house but not a lot and then I can add textures . Most of you should know is that there will be three houses on the 2x2 lot. If I plan to make a 2x3 lot the lot will have five detached houses. I have been studying the lot set back rules and we all should know that wall to wall building should be 1.6 meters from the edge of the lot for the walls to line of with other batter buildings, this all ways made sense to use this because the early batters have used the practice/ rule to keep some sort of order, but for row houses detached and brownstone houses the rules are a little different. The rules for the row houses detached and brownstone house are different because the houses has stairs in front of them. If they only used the 1.6 meter setback rule the stairs that protrude from the building would end up on the sidewalk. It will make sense to make buildings like row detached houses and brownstones 1.6 meter plus another 1.6 meters from the edge of the lot, this will equal to 3.2 meters from edge of the lot, this also make it where you can have a protruding stoop and a small garden next to the stoop. It is possible to go farther back but it depends on the real life building, so what I plan to do is to make the set back for this building 3.2 meters from the edge of the lot. I am thinking about making mirror models on the row houses. Thinking in the future for the project is mind blowing. I may have to make up to 20 row houses. Update Future Look At The Lot Different Sizes 2x2 2x3 and maybe 3x2 Perspective Render

This is one inspired in part by a more modern building whose pic I had sitting in my swipe file. It's missing some details and added flare, but I got stuck in a texturing jag for it. There's something a bit off about it; can't quite pin it down. (Working on my clunky home laptop, the colors seem off even though they're recycled textures from previous BATs.)

Wow, beautiful work everyone! So happy I had a look in here! As it happens I got a few nature shots to show you too. I've been foresting a region recently and some of the views I've seen are pretty cool in and of their own. You may like this mosaic, or if you want you can see my whole collection so far here. These aren't technically my work in the true sense, and more credit is due to the creators of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky region, the RVT Coastal Mod, CPT Meadowshire terrain, and those responsible for the Cascadia Tree Controller. All I did was tweak the water and beach properties to my liking and get plantin' those trees! And of course, take the shots All of these are pristine nature as is after using the God Mode Tree Brush intensively on a tile. Nothing removed, nothing added. Zero terraforming. This results in well, repetitive images in a way, but to me these are beautiful and worth sharing.

Here's a sneak-peak of the first Grandstand section of Engenhão Stadium: ..and a close-up of the seats: I've never made anything like this before so should be interesting Tony - The viewing platform will be exported separately from the statue but there's a large black void under where they join up. As long as you can find a prop big enough to cover it then you should be able to re-purpose it Girafe/ LnX - The versions I have in mind are 1) The full BAT but with separately exported statue and plinth in various coloured night lighting. 2) The statue & plinth on their own but probably only one colour of nightlight. (I have to do one on their own at ground level, otherwise they hover in the air). I won't be doing a third version with just the viewing platform and statue but without the rocks. Otherwise I'll be here the rest of the year exporting all the combinations Seraf - great to have you making something. And I don't think its going to be very much of a stretch for you to meet our standard
  38. 6 points
SimCoug: I think at least I could export them and just e-mail them to whoever wants them. If they were to go on the STEX, would they just be tagged onto the lighthouse upload, or would they get put into mipro essentials so that people could link to it as a dependency? But that means everyone else is downloading lighthouses props which will probably never be used as a dependency, and if so, wouldn't be for a commonly used upload. I'm not even expecting the lghthouses themselves to get a ton of downloads, as they'll only appeal to an appreciative but small number of people. A small update on 220 West Congress. Have I ever mentioned that making roof junk makes me want to die??
