Nigel - looks awesome!

I'm just learning about ports. Have downloaded lots of CDK3 stuff from SimPeg... In your first picture, where/what is most of the content from? It looks really nice.

@Dawg2012 - thanks!! The refinery buildings in the centre of the first pic are from Somy (heres the link http://members3.jcom.../somy000/p6.htm ). He also has some really cool other port stuff, like coal docks, container cranes etc! Although its in Japanese, you can navigate the site ok - look at the bottom of the page for the page numbers!!

There is also a lot of warehouses from the STEX and LEX, and a modular oil terminal.

I have nearly all the simpeg stuff - its great!

For ports, I would recomend any off the STEX. Heres a few to start with:

Happy building - and if you get stuck (like I do a lot!!), just post on here!

@wcraig - thanks a lot!! took me ages! Sad thing is, it now no longer exists! I obliterated the city that contained the port, as I wasn't completely happy with it. Have been putting a new one together for some time now - will post some pics of the new one here soon.

@wilba_victory - nice busy port area there!!

Hello, I also want to make a seaport, but to me you only see a brown surface. What should I do?

Sorry for bumping and double posting, but some of you might remember the Port of Astoria from a while back:

astoria8.jpg

It has just been expanded with a new set of docks and more facilities to handle cargo faster and more efficiently:

I finally finished mine!  It feels very repetitive, but I'm still pretty pleased with majority of it.  I used the last 14 pages of this thread for inspiration and direction, so thanks! :)  I'm quite happy with this shot too, I had to stitch four pictures together to get everything in it that I wanted.  Let me know if there are things that I could change to make this look better/more realistic or make sense.

That railyard in your second pic is pretty sweet whiteboybob.

Here's a port from a region I abandoned, it's one of the few parts of the main city Frederica I finished to a point where it's worth showing.

Well its been a few months since I've been in here, but I think that the progress of the port and surrounding city have developed quite nicely.  I'm still not sold on the dockyard though.  Seems very repetitive with far too much open space.

After what I think was about 8 hours of work, here is the first preview from my upcoming CJ.

portofls_zps75975c98.jpg

I'm pretty happy about how it's turning out. Still, I have a ton of work left with it, but I'm looking forward to finishing it and I'm having fun working with it, too.

Wow, some of the ports on here are just as realistic as you can get, seriously good job to everyone.

This is the first... good port I've made, took inspiration for others and came up with my own. I know it's Maxis stuff but I find a kind of charm in using them. It's part of my Long Beach update for my LA CJ
