Hello everybody. After my game crashed and I had to reinstall everything, I was in a pit of despair, because my first CJ Winchester had been lost, and I had had so much hope for the future.

However, this CJ is going to be a little different. The main focus of this CJ will not be pictures, but rather storytelling. There will be pictures included, but the majority of the CJ shall be based upon the plot, which I have worked on non-stop since I lost Winchester.

At times, Thistlewood will confuse you, sadden you, and make your heart leap with joy. This is a concept CJ, so if it falls flat on its face, it was an experiment anyways. This CJ uses JayStimson's Old Saybrook map which can be found on the STEX. Also, this first update will not have any pictures, as I have yet to take any.

So, without much further ado, here is the start of Thistlewood.

Her porcelain skin began to tremble. Her husband at her side, she launched into a frenzy of movement and heavy breathing, and the suspense was almost too much to bear. Was it another false alarm, or had the waiting finally been ended?

Dr. Yu rushed over to her bedside and guided her through the process. Just breathe deeply, dear, and everything will be okay. His voice was assuring, calm, knowledgeable. They would be okay. Then, the breathing stopped.

She laid her head on the pillow and looked around. The last 30 seconds had been crazed and frantic. She could not remember what had just happened. She tilted her head up ever so slightly. There was blood everywhere. Oh my god, she whispered, as if all the angels and demons of the world had gathered in front of her hospital bed.

It appears to be a baby boy, madam. Congratulations. She took one look at her blood-soaked bundle of joy and passed out, either from the euphoria or the pain. Her husband silently wheeled her out of the tiny hospital room with the object of their utmost desire. They decided to name the baby Artemis-Artemis MacKenzie Winchester.

I am but a grain of sand on the beach. One of many, all the same but somehow different. That is who I am. I am but a meaningless grain of sand. Dr. Verbeek says that this is the answer to my self-doubt, my thinking that I am meaningless and insignificant is a reply to low self-esteem. He says that everyone is important in their own special way. But he is wrong. He is a manufactured young genius, fresh out of medical school and ready to take over the world. He knows not what I have seen. I am but a grain of sand on the beach.

Did you like it? An update with pictures should come on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on different time constraints.

This sounds very interesting, almost like a SK novel unfolding.

I'll definitely be following this one.

I like the story so far... paints a picture of a little hospital room with no windows and bathed in soft orange light in my mind..... for some reason. 3.gif

Thanks for all the support guys. Another note: a lot of time will be spent developing the storyline considering the life of our mysterious character. In fact, a couple of updates will be devoted to his childhood in a totally different region, on yet another terrain I downloaded from the STEX(it's a giant Vancouver map). After those updates, we will begin the part of the story that takes place at present day. Thanks for all your positive comments once again.

J/K,but this is very good so far and I watch many C.J.s and this C.J. paints a picture in which the pictures are in the mind and not the computer screen...

    Also sorry about Winchester....

No problem. Winchester was my first city and wasn't very good anyways. I didn't even know how to place rails properly. So anyways, this CJ should be much better. I'm just getting the pictures ready, the story is written and ready for packaging.

Can't wait till you get some pics in here... the story is awesome itself and really doesn't need many pictures to support it.

This has to be one of the best beginnings to a CJ that I've seen, it it looks to be of the same kind of style that I've been preparing to introduce, after my Alternate San Juan Islands scenario.

    Wow.

I was enthralled by this first update.  Your ability to give us just enough information to excite emotion and then reveal the greater situation at a later time is sensational, specifically the points at which breathing stopped and there was blood everywhere.  I love the gathering of angels and demons simile, and Dr. Verbeek's description as a manufactured genius ready to take over the world lends a great deal to increasing character believability and realism.

Very much looking forward to the next update. 38.gif

Hello everybody. I was so glad to see all the replies to the initial update on Thistlewood. I didn't get this many replies on Winchester after 4 full pictorial updates. So, without further ado(I love saying that), here is Thistlewood's first pictorial update.

Well, today I get to see the newest crackpot specialist treating me, Dr. Battoo. All these buffoons, who think they know exactly what to do to help me, and not interested in my mental health. They are interested in padding their payrolls, a trade-mark of the capitalist Western world. But, I suppose I should give you a history before I start ranting about what's going on in the present.

I grew up in the suburbs. I lived on a block of 2-story houses, bungalows, and low-rise apartment buildings. westvancouverfeb16731109805968.png

Do you see the rowhouse, sandwiched in-between the bungalow and the red brick apartment building? That was my home for the first 15 years of my life. Yes, I loved it there, mainly because I didn't have the mental capacity to appreciate how screwed up my life was. My parents were exuberated concerning their little Utopian paradise. They wanted to keep things the same for the rest of their lives.

My father worked as an insurance broker near the bay, 5 miutes from downtown. westvancouverfeb16731109806036.png

His colleagues were all corrupt and made tons of money. They lived in fancy villas and were members of the country club nearby. But no, my innocent father had to be righteous, had to uphold justice at the workplace. That's why we were stuck in suburbia when we could have been whacking balls into the bush at the private links.

My mother worked at the spa, also near downtown, where she catered to the rich and famous. westvancouverfeb16731109806068.png

We could have been the ones being pampered, but my mother, like my father, strove to be perfect, thinking that it would all pay out in the end. Fools. But, because of their decision to stay saints, she was stuck drying off towels and massaging grumpy old businessmen who didn't care about anybody but themselves.

I would have shown you a shot of the entire city where I lived, but I wouldn't want you to get too depressed. Of course, if you want to become a Stepford Wife, maybe I'll give you a picture or two.

As I got older, I became interested in making money. Not clean money, like my saintly parents, but money, in any form as long as it paid for stuff. I actually worked at a luxury car dealership. westvancouverfeb16731109806300.png

Following in the footsteps of my aforementioned parents, I catered to the rich and luxurious. Little did I know back then that someday, I would want to kill my parents for even teaching me the rights and wrongs of the world. If they hadn't, I would have been perfectly fine, not needing to see a different psychiatrist each week. So ends the story of my childhood.

He walked through the corridor. The soft, orange glow of the hospital lights bathed him in artificial sunlight. It sickened him. Why couldn't they just leave him be? Why couldn't they just leave him alone? LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!! His raspy voice echoed throughout the halls to no avail. Why couldn't he just end it now? Then, the flash of light from the flourescent lamps above him ricocheted off a scalpel. Well then, talk about opportunity knocking... He stepped into the darkness. The artificial sunlight didn't-no, couldn't, bother him anymore.

juantrev, I'm not sure which rowhouses you're talking about. The rowhouses on the corners are Maxis lots built with the Houston tileset. The bungalow and 2-story houses are also on the Houston tileset. The rowhouse where I grew up is a SimGoober production. Search for either SimGoober or Suburban Townhomes and you should find them. Glad to help.

By the way, another update should come this weekend.

This really does have a lot of potential. Like I said before, it'll probably be better than Ocean Point. You have the storyline, eye candy pictures and I can forsee great building.....a three in one. Cobining the storyline with the great towns/cities I can forsee, is what makes this CJ one of the best up and coming CJs out there.
