"This is my iPod" Thread

What if you don't have an iPod...

  1. 1. What model of iPod do you own?

Here is a thread where we can all discuss what iPod you have, what one you want if you don't have one, what you use it for, what you have put on it, what accessories have you brought for it and anything else along those lines.

I'll start with mine.

My iPod is a 2gb iPod Nano with a white coloured case. I'm using about 1.2gb of it now. All of it is music. I am currently spending hours at a time using iTunes to add lyrics and album covers to my songs. As well as editing song details so they are as accurate as possible. I have a clear silicone cover to protect it (I heard about how easy nanos break) and as of yesterday, I went into the Melbourne CBD, visited the Apple Centre on Elizabeth Street and brought the iPod Radio Remote. Now I'm happily listening to the radio whenever I want. Everyone with a nano or a video iPod should buy it. The price may be abit steep but it's worth it for what it is.

The only thing annoying about my iPod is the fact you have to plug it into the computer to charge it. A seperate charger that plugs into your powerpoint is $50 aussie dollars which I think is a crazy price to pay.

I have a 30GB 5th generation video iPod which I got as a Christmas Present.  As of currently, almost 14 gigabytes are filled - with music only, as I see no logic in carrying photos or video with me, as it takes disc space away from music.

As I've only had my iPod for two-and-a-half-or-so-odd months, I'm stil using the out-of-the-box headphones, although they are beginning to have an annoying crackling sound in the bass... inevitable.  Headphones that come with CD and MP3 players usually have a short life; I'm glad these have worked for 2.5 months.

I might as well ask for suggestions for a good replacement earbud in the $10-50 range so I know what to look for.

The only accessory I've bought is a case.  It's a bit bulky but beats exposing the thing to scratches and dents.

I had a 40 GB click-wheel iPod but it conveniently broke 2 weeks out of warranty, so I took a $350 bath and bought a new 30 GB video iPod.

That's because you're sane. You also don't have a myspace. And that's a good thing.

I don't have an iPod, either, but I do have a XM MyFi and it is fantastic. I like it much better than iPods.

I've got a 30gb 5th gen Video...I LOVE IT! I got it for Christmas...it's so awesome...I'm using it right now...I've currently got 1,595 songs (about 6 days worth of listening time), 68 videos, and 680 photos. I still have 20.5 GB left. So uber...! The only accessory I have bought so far is the AC adapter. I got it used at the Unclaimed Baggage Store (they buy the bags that airlines lose, unopened until they arrive at the store). The AC adapter cost me 5 bucks. 4.gif I want to find a good case...My ipod is already a good bit scratched up...

*raises hand*

I also do not have an iPod, nor do I have any want of one.

Not only do I loathe the Apple Corporation, but I have pretty much no use for a portable mp3 player of any kind. I have Windows Media Player on my laptop (and am using it as I type this). That's portable enough for me, thank you.

I don't have an iPod but I'm beginning to think I want to get something. One of those mp3 players you can wear on your arm while walking or on the treadmill or whatever. Then I have to find a place to download Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida and the rest of my old exercise soundtrack. but that shouldn't be a problem.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Ski: Get an iPod Nano and then get the armband for it. It's truly awesome! The features are great! And it's easy to use. If you want something much more basic, try for the iPod shuffle. With the Nano you can create playlists to shuffle through for various situations...Walking music, running music, driving music, etc. With the shuffle it will simply shuffle through all your songs. The iPod is great, with the podcasts and all...etc. Plus, it simply copies exactly what you see in your iTunes and puts in on your iPod. It's awesome.

Hell, If I had to pick a company to worship, It'd be Capcom- they gave us Megaman!

Ok, I have added two polls. One for people with iPods, one for people without. Feel free to answer them. Interesting to see alot of people don't like iPods. I just find them so easy to use. It has to be the simplest MP3 player to operate ever. (Thats right. Remember iPods are Mp3 players too! They don't have their own category!)

And also, does anyone else have the iPod Radio Remote and what do they think of it? I would like to know your thoughts.

I can't stand iPods, either. The look cheap and tacky (white everything? what were they thinking?), the sound quality is dire, the headphones supplied explode should you (heaven forbid!) raise the volume. I could go on, but I don't want to bore you.

I'm not just saying this, either. I've used one for a while, and it was horrible. iTunes chewed up my PC, and the battery life is shameful compared to my Creative Zen Touch 20GB.

Sure, the Zen is a bit fatter than the iPod, but the battery life more than makes up for it.

What I can't stand most of all is the sheepish culture surrounding iPods, the sort of "I want one because everyone else has one, and I'm going to completely diregard the fact that it's overpriced for what it does" idea people seem to have.

I just don't understand why people so stupidly follow the masses.

Last time I checked, portable music was about sound quality, battery life and capacity, as well as it being tough for day-to-day use for the lowest price possible. The iPod I had was inferior in each and every field for me. Crap software, terrible crackly sound quality, overpriced, and only lasted for 7 months before it promptly died. Took it back to the apple shop, got my money back, and got a Zen Touch with it. Same capacity, same job, no buggy software, great sound quality, great battery life, and I had 60 quid left over. Haven't had a single problem with it, and I use it every day.

/me awaits onslaught of Apple-defending keyboard warriors.

Personally, I have an early 4th generation iPod, one with a monochromic before they were turned into iPod Photo's. Lets see, the only real additional thing I have to go with it would be the "Belkin TrueCast II FM Transmitter", and a new pair of headphones.

I don't haveone nor do I feel I really need one. Got myself a basic MP3 player which plays everything I need, plus I've got a few more different kinds of players to play my music so I don't think I'll be getting one any time soon.
