Awesome update. Your work around the school looks particularily good, and I love the one overpass.

Also, you seem to have a ton of transit enabled lots. Are the lots themselves enabled, or do you have some sort of T-street intersection that is transit enabled that allows you to link a road to any lot you wish. It makes it look alot more realistic as opposed to people having to drive over a curb, grass, and sidewalk to get to the parking lot. If you downloaded it could you point me to where it is?

Fantastic Work Darmok! I loved that little Sports 'Complex' behind the church. And an Ice-Cream Parlour in front of a church is surely a refreshing new idea.....

Hey! Is that hotel in picture #8 available on the STEX? Or is it in the game itself? It looks good.

Also in picture #5, I would like to know how do you create those gentle ramps that finally end up as 'fly-overs' (NAM Bridge over Road/Rail). Whenever I try that using the Mayor-Mode Landscape Tools, I end up destroying the actual land-layout.

Thanks,

Aasim.

I'm curious to know John, how big is your plugins folder? It seems like you never use the same lot twice!!! Needless to say, great work! You've inspired me to adopt a method of yours, and this is one I saw about 50 pages back mind you, (50 pages ... astounding!) and that's planning all my areas in the city(RCI)!

I've been freelancing alot, and I've noticed that I often have to demolish tons of stuff because I forgot parks and greenery in my cities. So just know that your CJ has officially impacted the way that I play the game!

EDIT: Welcome to page 96 !!!

KoolSim: Yes! It is an early Goober creation: search "simgoober" on the STEX, go to the last page, and work your way up to the front: you will see it.

Well, I think I see a home that I like.

From what I can see in that last update, it is an orangish (orange) roofed mansion in the middle of that neighborhood.

If it's not taken, I'll live in it. lol.

Besides that, fantastic update as usual! The region is coming together quite nicely as so many other people have said here already.

Glad to see a lot of recreation for all those other citizens. And the high-tech area looks great!

See you Monday too.

OMG........I missed one.  @#*%  Well I'm here now.
As for the house, I think I have mostly everything done and ready to live in.  Fine details, you know pictures and stuff.  Yes it is my first house and I love it.  My apartment was in TO, but the house is in Brampton very close to where I work, so no  more long commutes.  YAHHHHH

The family is great and Matias does new stuff every day that we are just so amazed over.  NO matter how small everyone else thinks it is.

As for the power lines.....I have seen a couple different ones and don't really like them to much because something is lacking in some way or another.

I can't wait to see this twist you have in mind for Bruinen Fjord.

The school looks great but where do you get all these trnsit enabled lots?
If I may.......the only thing I don't like.......is the those solar collectors.  They don't seem right.  In one of your pics, it look like they are more than three storeys tall.  Great idea but I think wrong size.  And as always, my little disclaimer, " this is your CJ and not mine so to each their own".
As for every thing else, perfect as always.

Now for the second update.
"Peterson Tool Specialties"..............wow........now that biulding looks great and fits in perfect the way you have it.  I really like all the fine details on the pavement.  "No Parking, Fire lane,"
I think I have just noticed something.  The lots are not transit enabled, I think you have a "T" peice for the street that is transit enabled.  You have to give it to me....please, oh please.  Or at least point me in the right direction to get it becauase I don't remember this on the STEX.
The rial depot looks great as well, but I agree I think it needs a little bit of changing.  The thourogh lane should be on the outside of the lot,......I think.
Graet hotel, very nice ware house and the icecream palour is just what I could use right now.  And right after ice cream I can take Matias to that wanderful park.
Awesome pics and I can't wait to see what is next.  Hope your weekend turns out great and I'll see you again soon.  Bye for now.

Another update gone by, but still none the less outstanding. Your use of open spaces (parking lots, parks etc) is what (I believe) adds that touch of realism your shots seem to have. The dean's house is in a perfect pie-throwing location to keep those knuckleheads in line should they get out of hand. With that said, I'll happily take up the position of dean. I'll have a report on the council's desk in the kind of fashion you expect from a school like this. Now to organize that graduation commencement... ice cream perhaps... yes, ice cream... cream pies... perfect...

    PLEASE NOTE...

I was out part of the weekend, and with the Simtrop Server being down when I came back, I didn't have time to copy the posts to answer them! So some answer may be on the short side and without smileys this time.

To try to keep up with posting a monday update.

    Thanks

EDITED - WRONG PICS! I'LL CORRECT THE SITUATION ASAP

    SITUATION CORRECTED

    NEW PICS ARE SHOWING,

    SORRY ABOUT THAT FOLKS!

    Rayden - New Haven

    Hi Sylvio,

Glad you like the rail network setup, I could suggest just looking at real life city maps where you ca see the actual railway, and then in Simtrop I'd suggest that you go see Bernhard (Nardo69) CJ Bernhard (Nardo) - Urland a (mostly) rural coastline . He's one of the best for railway network!

    Have a nice week!

    Take care

    S_A_ (Shadow_Assassin) - The Savannah Way

    Thanks S_A,

Well... I thought that a small parking lot with an access to the Cycleway would be a good thing, in RL, we have a lot of these setup here, this way people who don't have a nearby access, can bring their bikes with their cars, park, and then go for a ride.

So what I did is I took Jeroni's Cul de sac parking lot, removed the back fence. replaced it with two smaller fancy fences, which left a place for the bikes to access the cycleways. Simple and practical.

    zzavrsacycleanswerzz7kd.jpg

As for the Ice Cream, I was remebering how much I enjoyed those sunday ice cream cones! Hummmmmm! And still am by the way WINK

    Take care mate!

Special Eddie - Oasis--The Wild West

Hey Eddie, I don't know about skate boarding, the last time I climbed on one, some (mumbling unintelligible number) years ago, my behind quickly decided to go down on the floor! Never tried after that! LOL

I'm actually using Jeroni's street mod, but you have to remember that Bruinen Fjord is already finished, in fact it was finished BEFORE Tolfalas, it's just that I wanted BF to be followed by Anôrien in the posting sequence that's why I presented Tolfalas first. So I'm using it and I like it a lot!

    Take care!

Aleking - AK's Eye Candy AlbumHi Alek, about the transit enabled lot, I think that most of the big ones should be, it does add a touch of realism. More and more I'm using the LE and SC4tool to modify and transit enable several lots I'm using, it's a bit slower when playing, cause I'm doing it piecemeal but, I often feel that it is essential to the overall look of the city, and besides even if it's slower, I'm in no hurry so!

And you'll see some changes in the following updates about the Intermodal shipping depot.

    Enjoy the week!

    John

Tracker (TWICE) - Graph X Services

Glad the house suit's you! Sure won't be a long walk for your children to go to school!

And I visited your help thread, I'm sure It'll be very helpful!

    Take care

    P.S. Thanks for helping KoolSim

Szarkoz - The Free Democratic Nation of Caledonia

Hi Szarkoz, Hope you had an excellent trip with your class.

Yes the school is a SimGoober BAT see the link at the top of the posts.

There'll be lot of ned density elsewhere in the city, I just wanted a small low res density in that particular spot! I guess that my personal preferences showed up with that library, I like reading in quiet places, and it seemed like a good setup for that purpose.

As for the arrow to show the direction to Calenhad, it's just that it would be good to situate Bruinen-Fjord more precisely.

Glad you liked it, and see you later.

    Take care

Battlecat - Terra - An evolving region

    Hi Battlecat

I wanted Bruinen Fjord to be kind of a small city, bigger than a town, but not too big either...

How will it turn out... we will see in the following udates WINK

    Take care

    Going2Chicago

No problem with good critics G2C! LOL

The shipping depot and Peterson Tools, are RJM Bats, Look a the links above all the posts if you're interested.

And you'll see very soon how the empty space will develop!

    See you!

    GaBoR - Oro Bruno

Thanks GaBoR, if interested in the lots, see the links section abve the answers.

    Take care!

    Kant01

    Hi Kant, thanks!

Mightygoose - Vil-valad, a city and its roots

Links, above answers, hope it'll help!

Hehehe, just kidding! Can't help it, your post was like reading a telegram, had to respond the same way LOL

    Always good to see you.

BTW when's the next update in Vil-Vallad?

    GMT - Greater Columbia River

    Hey Torben, thanks man.

ThePeoplesPerson - The Tropics of Haalu

    Hi TPP

Well as for the transit enabled lot, I'm using more and more SC4Tool, which is fantastic to add transit to a lot, that and a lot (pun intended) more! And I must say that I also have some transit enabled piece of street to connect to lots, though they are not mine, I was beta testing them. They are Dan's (Dhoppeii) lots, I don't if he plans to upload them on the STEX.

But you can achieve the same result by using SC4Tool.

    Take care!

    KoolSIM

Thanks KS, yep the hotel is on the STEX, simply follow the link at the beginning of the answers.

To create an overpass you can look at pics 8, 9 and 10 in page 91 update 1 PLACEHOLDER of Bruinen Fjord, if you need a more detailled tutorial let me know, I'll see what I can do.

And keep in mind that I'm using a slope mod.

    Take care

    Rhéal – rw0381c

My plugin folder, let me see....I've cleaned it recently and took out a lot of LOTS and BATS I'm not using at all, and it's now at a lean 1,5GB WINK

Well I do use the BATS and LOTS more than once, I just try to add some diversity. Glad to see that AVR inspired you in any way, and please note that very often, if not all the time... my methods are also inspired by another CJ'er.

Thanks for the welcoming to page 96!

    Enjoy the week!

    Micah

Ohhh boy, I think you're talking about Tracker's house!

Let'me see...If you're willing to wait a few updates I'll give you dibs on the first one you'll like from now on. There'll be another low res sector on the south shore, with another school nearby.

Don't despair, we'll find something! WINK

    Take care

Rooker1 - Xania a tour of my world

    Hey Rooker,

The first house is one of the great pleasure in life! Enjoy it to the fullest!

Glad to hear that the family is doing well!

Well, for the twist it's just that I'm trying to integrate more and more the railway in industrial areas, as I'm not really familiar with them in RL, it's more of a guessing game for me, but hey! it's fun!

The transit enabled lots are just LOTS and BATS I've modified using the SC4Tool, it's so easy!

I agree about the solar panels, I promise I wont use them again...LOL

Peterson Tools is only one of the fine BATS done by RJM, go have a look it's well worth it!

And yes I do have a T street piece, but it's not mine... just beta testing for Dan (Dhoppeii) and I don't know if he plans to upload it to the STEX... I'll see what I can do about this, give me some time.

And yes the Intermodal shipping depot will change.

Take care and enjoy the week my friend!

    Threestooges

Hey Threestooges, ah! I see you're already in the mood for work! Great!

I knew you we're just perfect for that position!

    We're awaiting that report....

Enjoy the week....and watch your back WINK

you never know when a stray pie can hit!

Your city looks so real. Thanks for the links for underwater flora, I've already started using it. I'm not too familiar with SC4tool but I'm going to have to try it out because the transit enabled lots add a whole new layer of realism to the cities.

In response: Yes, I had a great trip, only the weather could be better 2.gif

As for the update: I like all the pathways that go through residential areas, but don't you think they could be a great way of escape for burglars? No lights, many trees... just perfect 3.gif

If we're talking only about aesthetics, well I'm not sure if they fit so good in medium dense zones. I think they would look much better if they had some fences or trees around.

The second point in my "criticism" is the railway station. Look, trains are usually long... And when they will arrive that station they will have to stop on the street. Well, for what exactly is that street there? There is another one on the second side of station. However, I like the fact you've put some parking space there.

Overally, Bruinen Fjord growing up quite good. I think the main avenue with shopping area is my favourite sector so far.

Well, I'm looking forward to next update! 48.gif

    Hello John!

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while ... bad, baad RLS (a business trip to Moscow - and this time I could see a bit of this really amazing town for the first time! - my work, my boss, my bad tooth and a lost boot partition ... ) ...

So I guess I have quite something to do right now ... 2.gif

    Update

    Update 1,2 & 3

I allways do appreciate your technical! Actually whenever I build a tunnel I wish I had the tunnel tool from good ol' SC2K - one tile sloped-one tile raised and one tile sloped was enough fo a short tunnel under a road or railroad ... sigh ... WAAAAAAAAAYYYY easier than in SC3K or SC434.gif ...

    Update 4

I like the smooth line of the avenues in your overview. And you showed two think I don't like so much: the street roundabout - I guess I will remove it completely - and the onslope avnue piece without the textures. With roads, Railways etc you can get rid of them with the t-onslope-pieces, but unfortunately not with the avenues ...

    Update 5

I really do like that small res sector with its three schools. I just wonder ... in the 10th pic - how do the children reach that playground? over the fence and the running over the lawn? or through Mrs. Miller strawberry plants causing the biggest red strawberries to disappear misteriously without a trace?

About zoning industrial, yeah, I have made the same esperience - sometimes it is just really hard to find a nice industrial layout ... 34.gif

    Update 6

Good layout of the freight yard (intermodal terminal + railyard). You did a good job by avoiding the avenue RR crossing. and the warehouses aroundthe freight yard just fit!

    Update 7

Hooo, me as a reference for good railway networking .... it is a nice feeling not be forgotten even though you had to be rather quite for some time! 16.gif

Good med density quarter at the railway terminus! I do love those BATs, too , they do have the right "feling" of a 19th worker's house / quarter! I am just sometimes to slow to make them historic before them are replaced by R$$ (especially by Odd's homes ...)

BTW, already page 96 6.gif... not far away from the magic 100! 10.gif

I hope I can show you something new in Urland this week - thank god my MyDocumentFolder was not on my boot partition ... hmmmmm ... maybe I should move it again to an extended partition ...41.gif

Have a great week my friend!

Indeed, and if they have a bike, they can disguise among all the other bikers 9.gif That answers to the above post from GaBoR. I'm not sure each one is in use here, but if you use the keyword "bike" on the STEX, you will find it. Aha SA is thinking the same as me. The "new" cycleway entrance is a nice change to what we have from Jeronij. I am almost confident he would not mind (as long as you credit him of course). BTW I also would appreciate if you can upload to STEX those intersection pieces whith those you connect the various parking lots with the streets and roads. That one is just absolutely incredible (yeah, yeah I know sims do not like intersections na, na, na..)

I had a day off again yesterday (Pinksteren, I would not know the english name for it) and of course missed your update again........

Thanks for the link to Simgoober. I had it already installed but as it is a randomizer I never saw this busstop.

So Update 6. Great update missed to buldoze a street tile in the first picture. I see also that you made those picturese before you installed Jeronij's street mod?

I also noticed that that poor man had his fence put edgewise again. Ha, ha, ha the time you make pictures are all through eachother.....

    Udate 7. Gulp. Great quarter.

Great firehouse. I never noticed the great grafitti on the side Very nice touch, It's Porkissimo's isn't it?

    Good work, keep it up.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
