Great update! I like the train station area very much...29.gif
The residents are lucky that they live here, tree schools, lot of parks, a library.... 3.gif
BTW: about the train station, I already got the link from vester_DK, thanks for the help...9.gif

Felicitations au champions de la coupe Memorial ... les Remparts de Quebec. Je n'ai pu m'arreter de sacrer contre Radulov toute la partie!

Great update John! I really love all the custom lots you use, and the obvious time you put into your city building, simply amazing. Keep it up!

I'll take one of the houses south of the high school. I AM a citizen, right? [i still have to get a house in Green River...when will I ever?] What is it with the amount of new citizens pouring in here?

P.S. I made a new guide in Bugs and Technical Issues, and it got pinned. Cool, isn't it?

great stuff. i really love your step by step aproach. i's still trying to figure your jokes out though (if you even made any in that update, not exactly sure. lol). one thing i don't like are the solar panels. i don't think they fit in. i would imagine there being some power plant thats infamous with the locals that everyone can see in the distance, looks sort of dirty with crows scwawking over head. that kind of thing. i would probably recomend the Maxis oil plant. can't wait for more!

EDIT: i just thought of what town the power plant idea reminded me of. Romeoville, it's a town just south of mine and you can see the coal power plant no matter were you are pretty much.

If the student's residence of a comedy school is the quietest place in town, then this is probably one big party. Being a citizen I think it would be appropriate to seek a house near here... I hope the school system runs well with a few stooges at the helm. The elementary school students will certainly get "moe" for their money (if you pardon my pun). Waiting to the the law offices of Horwitz, Horwitz, Horwitz, and Feinberg (should they develop). In memoriam, I tip my hat, both to those who have passed, and to you for your continuing hard work for this journal. "Three" cheers.

Felicitaciones, Nice train station layout, somehow seems to blend in with the rest of the zoning, like it very much, Also to highlight the way you integrate the buildings to their surrounding areas by the use of pathways it's just great!!! I'll see you Friday

Looks great, Darmok. I quite like that lawn of yours, it's very open, that's for sure. I'm sure the walkway will be particularly useful to those who need it. 3.gif

Wow my first citizen passport on simtropolis 4.gif. Thanks a lot Darmok

That's really a big update, I don't know from where to start

My favorite is the last one, don't know exactly why, but it seems so realistic

Really great job

Cheers

Oeps! Missed two updates I should stop taking Fridays and Mondays off from work 5.gif

First update is just looking great. THe work you put into laying down the transportation infrastructure is just dazzling 46.gif

Thank you on the tip of building those tunnels. I made it and it is working fine now.\That use of Jeronij's parking lots is a great idea. CLEVER!

In the last picture of update 4 I would like to say: Be carefeull with those bikepaths, I noticed some "clever" dude in the town hall decided to put a lamp post just in front of the entrance of the bike paths (incompotent fool, it is so hard to get good personell these days don't you agree.....9.gif)

Update 5:

I love your schools. I am glad there is a fence around the elementary school.

I noticed that the fool I spoke of above has managed to put a second lamp post at the end of the cycleway as well. mmmmm what this town needs is some clinics soon! Come to think of it, it may be a sick mind at work but I see those lamp posted cyclepaths are near to the Comedy school. Is there a sick relation between these or is it just coincidence.........

That curved lawn looks jsut great. I just noticed this poor guy of the cottage adjecent to the lawn had to redo his fence. First it was straight (not a good sight) in the next picture it cuves downward with the lawn. Sometimes SC4 can result in some interesting quirks that worked out well this time.

Nice busstop next to the students dorm. It would fit well in my towns. Whose is it?

No comment on the sector that is not bound to be kept.......

Finally, the Postcard.

What a gem. Word cannot describe it. It is just awsome (especially the bike path, you must have had a lot of fun and satisfaction building it).

I LOVE this CJ!! 36.gif

    Micah

Glad you appreciate Micah, as for the house just point your choice, we'll manage. Yep for this one I wanted more schools.

    Thanks for your support!

    Take care

    Bat

    Thanks Bat

    Rayden - New Haven

Hey Sylvio, well as I said to Micah, this time I wanted more schools, so that's why they where in the first things to be built in Bruinen Fjord.

And as for the Hitech industries, there'll be a lot more. Along with... well, we'll see..

    Take care.

    Sc4_cewl

    Hi Sc4_cewl

    Welcome to Anduin Valley.

    Thanks for the good words.

    See you!

Battlecat - Terra - An evolving region

    Yeah, finally!

I don't plan to ever do that again, that is to do a complete (or almost) transit network before doing anything else.

    Too constrictive for my taste.

As for the fence, they are Diagonal Park Fences V1 by jeronij

    Take care!

    ThomasAH - Zorturia

Vester is always a great help! Thanks Vester

Well It's coming along nicely, kind of a middle class res sector.

    Take care

    Rhéal – rw0381c

Hehehe, de notre côté disons qu'on criait plutôt que se sacrer... Radu devrait avoir une belle carriere dans la nationale!

Thanks for the kind words Rhéal, and what can I say, we were lucky to have Radulov, and Desjardins was not bad either!

    Enjoy the weekend!

    Tracker - Graph X Services

Would you care for this one, just in front of the school?

    trkerhsezzup06avbrfrdzz4hk.jpg

And for your other observation, with the increase in visitors these last weeks, it's normal that the number of citizen is increasing as well!

    The more the merrier!

Mightygoose - Vil-valad, a city and its roots

Yes they are tall, that's why I usually use them grouped, which tends to visually reduce the height impact. It's just that I needed power for the sector and didn't want to bring pylons across the river.

    See you

    Going2Chicago

Hey G2C, hehehe, you could go to Wikipedia and search the school names, you'll find them under the same topic...

Yeah, the solar panels, well they're a fast alternative when you need power, though these days I'm using more and more a power shed made by mrbisonm, which blends with the surroundings. You can also see my answer to mightygoose just above.

Hehehe, you have some "dark" ideas... well you'll probably see more on this approach later on in AVR.

    Take care!

    Threestooges

Well, you know very well that comedy is a serious business! Can't let the jokers take control! God forbid!  2.gif

As for a house, the Anduin Valley Council would like to ask you to take charge of the Comedy school administration, so if you accept the charge, I should then recommend the Dean house. You'll notice a direct view from the north wing (your office), over the students residence, and from the westward windows you'll also have a clean view to the school itself.

    deanhousezzup06avbruinenpic1mu.jpg

And I think that the school will run quite well with such a competent person at the shemp, sorry helm!

(Ooooohhhh boy!....This is one of my worst attempt at a joke, should have gone to that school!)

Hoping you'll agree to share your wisdom with the wannabe comedians, the city council awaits your response.

Thanks for your always pleasant visit.

    Take care

    GaBoR - Oro Bruno

Thanks, that japanese train station is really an eye catcher, very simple but really beautiful.

Since the very beginning of AVR I've been kind'of obsessed with walkways, cycleways, sidewalks plazas and such... I'm pretty sure that they'll be more and more used in the future in RL, with the pollution problems and not to mention the prohibitive cost of gasoline! So call me nuts, but I really like 'em.

Take care, and good continuation with Oro Bruno!

Special Eddie - Oasis--The Wild West

    Yeah! Finally!.... 18.gif

I was as impatient as everyone...

Take care, see you in Oasis!

    KoolSIM

    Thanks KoolSIM!

    MS (magpieshooter) - Kinata Region

Thanks MS, as for the res sector being open, I'm just trying different styles.

    Take care

    S_A_ (Shadow_Assassin) - The Savannah Way

Hey S_A, yeah, I just wanted kind of an open park, just lawn where the kids can run and fly kites...

And what can I say, I'm nuts about walkways, cycleways and such!

    Take care!

    wouanagaine - SC4 Terraformer a tool for regional hand-terraforming

    Salut wounagaine,

Glad you like the passport, it's just a small token of appreciation!

There's more to come, hope you'll like it too!

Take care and continue your great work with SC4terraformer.

    JoeMeister

    Hey JoeMeister,

    Welcome to Anduin Valley!

From day one you say! WOW, you're a long time lurker then!

Looking forward to reading you again!

    Take care

    Nik-nik

If you can take fridays AND mondays off, this ain't a job, it's a position!  18.gif

Even if it's easier to put the tramsit network earlier on, I think it's the last time I do it like that. Cause when doing a CJ it's not very practical, and it can be boring just looking at tech shots for 4 or 5 updates. (and this is just a medium city grid!)

The tunnel tip is just the proof that we learn from our mistakes! (or in this case by the mistakes of other  2.gif ). Jeroni's parking lots can be used for almost anything! I've worked with them in the LE, and next update I'll show you a little thing I've made to connect it to Sahdow_Assassin's cycleways.

The lampost in front of the bikepath could be construed as a safety feature! The lamp post produce light thus lighting itself, thus helping people seeing it so they can avoid it!.... Does this make sense??? .... nahhhh! that's what I think too... I think we'll relocate the civil engineer who came up with that idea!

Hey! You noticed the school fence! I've put it there on purpose, as well as a separate entrance as to increase security for the kids.

As for the other lamp post near the comedy school, this one's a joke, it's made of rubber... no worry!

You notice everything don't you?  21.gif Yeah the guy had to redo his fence, but he received help from city hall, they sent a civil engineer who just had been relocated to other tasks!....

That busstop, let me see (stopped typing and opened SC4 and query and....) Here it is: Suburban Bus Stop Set by simgoober

That particular residential sector (the postcard), was not supposed to be like that at first, it's just another example of me changing my mind and wing it again! I'm glad you appreciate it, terraforming for the cycleways path was the thing that took most of the time in that sector, not really difficult, it's just that I've tried several things before coming to this setup. And yes I really have fun working in Anôrien.

    Long answer!!!

Always good to read you my friend.

Enjoy your weekend and regards to the family!

    Anubis - anubis' cities

Aleking - AK's Eye Candy Album

    Hi Alek.

It's a genuine pleasure to see you back in Simtrop!

By all means, rip off anything you like, it'll be a real pleasure.

And if you continue with those compliments, my ego will be so big that I won't be able to pass through the door!  18.gif

And I can't wait to see more of your work in the following weeks!

    Welcome back my friend!

    Take care

It must be fun to bring your skateboard to church. The town looks very clean and crisp. I'm wondering why you aren't using Jeronij's street mod? It would look great in Anduin River Valley.

Because of my class trip I couldn't comment last update so I'll do it now.

    The first update:

Personally I thought you'll build medium density residential zones rather than small density - That was my vision 1.gif But small density is also nice, maybe greener.

Good job with school area, I would only put the library in a bit more visible place maybe near street intersection. Although, it surely offers a great silence to read!

    The second update:

I love how the avenue overpass looks in a developed area. Now I want to build a similar overpass in Caledonia... and I'll probably do 3.gif

That hotel looks sweet! Great BAT. If it's not a problem for you, could I ask for a link to it? I guess it Simgoober's because of the quality of the BAT and those parking lots which are characteristic for him 1.gif

I like the overview, especially, that's nice you put an arrow with direction to Calenhad, now I now where exactly we are.

Overally it's a very good city so far. I'm looking forward to next updates!
