That kind of stuff is pretty common in college ball, and I suspect it's more common in the pros than anyone lets on. With the kind of money that rides on NFL games, I'm sure there's a lot of other inventive ways to cheat.

Injured Bills tight end Everett moves arms and legs

The Associated Press

Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett voluntarily moved his arms and legs on Tuesday when partially awakened, prompting a neurosurgeon to say Everett would walk again.

“Based on our experience, the fact that he’s moving so well so early after such a catastrophic injury means he will walk again,” said Barth Green, chairman of the department of neurological surgery at the University of Miami school of medicine.

Green has been consulting with doctors in Buffalo since Everett’s spinal-cord injury Sunday against Denver.

On Monday, Bills orthopedic surgeon Andrew Cappuccino said that Everett probably wouldn’t walk again

My only comment regarding the Patriots cheating

XXXVI 3 February 2002 New England Patriots 20-17 St. Louis Rams Louisiana Superdome (6) New Orleans (9) *

XXXVII 26 January 2003 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-21 Oakland Raiders Qualcomm Stadium (3) San Diego (3) *

XXXVIII 1 February 2004 New England Patriots (2) 32-29 Carolina Panthers Reliant Stadium Houston (2)

XXXIX 6 February 2005 New England Patriots (3) 24-21 Philadelphia Eagles ALLTEL Stadium Jacksonville *

September 9 2007 New England Patriots 38 New York Jets 14 *

as for the same as Barry Bonds Home Run record

Such a shame and dissappointment a team would do that and tarnish the competitiveness that is in the NFL

Well both Monday Night games were awesome... though i only caught the ends of both of them... 15.gif

TMS' Week One Record... 11-5 [i forgot to put it out there for you guys to see lol]

    What I Got Wrong

    New Orleans over Indianapolis

    Jacksonville over Tennessee

    Philadelphia over Green Bay

    Oakland over Detroit

    New York Giants over Dallas

    Predictions For Week 2

    Carolina over Houston

    Jacksonville over Atlanta

    Indianapolis over Tennessee

    St. Louis over San Francisco

New York Giants over Green Bay

Detroit over Minnesota [i dont know about this one.... its close]

    Dallas over Miami

    Seattle over Arizona

    Baltimore over New York Jets

    Chicago over Kansas City

    Denver over Oakland

    San Diego over New England

    Philadelphia over Washington

As for the news about Kevin Everett...

That is awesome! It didnt look like much from the TV but he just hit it just right... It was great that his whole team huddled on the field and prayed for his well being... that tells you that the team is a TEAM. We all know his playing career is over... this guy should at least have a good life away from playing in the sport... hes only 25...

    Also about the Patriots...

Now as I say about the whole Bonds Controversy... If he was doing it than so was 75% of his peers... so I would bet that even though Patriots got caught... I bet most of the teams spy illegally... Goodell will probably do something in Fines... but I would be surprised about any suspensions... If he really wanted to give a message about "cheating" than he would suspend the whole team for a game... but that will never happen lol...

    In Other News

Charlie Frye was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks... But not to compete for the starting job... nor the backup... just to add "depth" to their roster as a 3rd stringer... now in my opinion... They might as well of kept him off the roster

JaMarcus Russell FINALLY will sign with the Oakland Raiders... speaking of Dante Culpepper will most likely be the starter next week... which will give a great boost to the team... considering Josh McCown... is... Josh McCown

The Baltimore Ravens seem to becoming the new Carolina Panthers this year... Everybody talked about them to make it to the Playoffs/Super Bowl... and then they start off with a bunch of injuries... hopefully they can keep it together...

TMS: regarding the Pats....that may be the case but knowing how much people dont think highly of the Pats for their gradeschool antics sportsmanship against the Chargers AND the Colts during the postseason last year they got what was coming to them when they got caught...just like how Barry Bonds has had a horrible reputation bc of his co-ckiness and arrogance when he got speculated that he was taking enhanced drugs same thing as the Pats being caught cheating....its all about the impression a team or a player has that even though theyre successful they will be a walking target and if they do wrong and get exposed they should be ready when doodoo hits the fan for their absurd actions another case in point the michael vick pitbull ring...yes everyone else does it but vick was caught and already not having that great reputation to begin with with his one finger salute to fans last year was pretty much chewed on by the media and the public when exposed to the pitbull ring....so whats the lesson for today boys and girls....long lasting impressions will go around and come around

    Great Point Filasimo!

Americans can be a very forgiving people... as long as you are 1: Nice to most people 2: Admit your mistake/guilt without lying or 3: Have enough money to buy people into believing that you are good lol...

oh yea... i forgot to put this in...

    Did You Know That...

...Opening Week 2007 was the 3rd consecutive and 4th Ever that all games Sold Out? Which means no games were Blacked Out to local markets...

The NFL is really hitting on all cylinders now

O come on? who on earth would compare this to barry bonds? The patriots filmed signals for one game!!! so what??!! Filasimo-its obvious your just jealous of our success, and you are using this to justify it. Do you think taping signals allowed adam vinitarie to kick 3 Super bowl winning feild goals and the snow bowl kick? do you think it was taping signals that injured drew bledsoe, and decided Tom Brady would start? was it signals that allowed randy moss to burn triple coverage on sunday for a 50 yard td? was it signals that allowed Rodney harrison to complete the 2003 super bowl with a broken arm?? The patriots are an incredible team, they single handidly rivived the boston sports scene in about 5 months, and the are the class of the NFL.

Which brings me to another thing.....NO CLASS? LT YOU HAVE TO BE FRICKING KIDDING ME?? once again, hes just jealous of the patriots. LT has never won a super bowl. The Patriots have won 3 in this decade. He deserves a ring, and he knows it. hes obviously just frustrated. The patriots are the classiest team in the NFL, and everyone knows that. Have they ever insulted an opponent? no. Have they ever put themselves before a championship? no. Do Corey Dillon and randy moss just suddenly become good guys? or is it the side-effect of a great organization? LT is just a sore-loser....The patriots celebrated an incredible win in SD last year! whats wrong with that? The Chargers were packing there bags for indy at the end of the third quarter, and the patriots snuck up on em and won itI couldn't care less if some 24 year old from billerica was taping Eric Mangina's signals......The Patriots are still the best team in the NFL.

EDIT: In Football, it doesnt matter if you know whats coming. sometimes during practice my coach will tell the defense the play the offense will run, and it doesnt affect the outcome of the play. You could know the offesnive play by heart. but if you don't play well, it doesnt matter.

Anyway, my picks for this week.

    Carolina vs. Houston

    Jacksonville vs. Atlanta

Indianapolis vs. Tennessee (tennessee always seems to do well gainst indy)

    St. Louis vs. San Francisco

New York Giants vs. Green Bay

    Detroit vs. Minnesota

    Dallas vs. Miami

    Seattle vs. Arizona

    Baltimore vs. New York Jets

    Chicago vs. Kansas City

    Denver vs. Oakland

    San Diego vs. New England

    Philadelphia vs. Washington

    TO man TO!

    1. The pats were mimiking a charger last year. Rivers was so mad at the pats that he said "ACT LIKE YOU WON A GAME!"

So it means that they have insulted an opponant!

    2. Let me ask you something Pat. Have the Patriots ever gotten 14-2 in the season? I don't think so.

    3. Everyone likes the Chargers and there going to win!!!!!!!!

1.-Phillip Rivers? he aint no drew brees.  by insulted an opponent, i mean hold a press conference and say stupid things like LT does. And by the way, i don't blame the pats for making fun of "lights out". Merriman looks like hes humping air. its definetely the stupidest dance ever. The chargers got what they deserved. they came into the game way too c0cky, and they didnt bring the intensity you need for a playoff game.

2-yes actually they have. twice. have the chargers ever won 3 superbowls in your life time? i don't think so.

3-Everyone likes the pats and there going to win!!!!!!! 3.gif (looks like we got a little rivalry going on lol)

His neck was broken last Sunday.    The initial prognosis was he would basically wind up like Christopher Reeve.  But, as of today, he is moving his arms and legs and has been extubated.  Amazing progress considering the severity of the injury.

depends...If the patriots can suffocate LT like they did to thomas jones, and if the passing game stays on fire, i think the patriots will own. If they let LT run all over them, it could go either way. to use the same phrase twice, either way, its gonna be one of the best games of the regular season.

It appears the Bears have found a strength in stifling good RBs, not just Tomlinson but, for example, their manhandling of Shaun Alexander last season. I haven't been looking at the stats and lineup this season, so I'm looking for some insight. Questions/comments/discussion?

    I agree EB

...but Goodell did send out a strong message to any other team that has probably cheated or was planning on it...

O come on? who on earth would compare this to barry bonds? The patriots filmed signals for one game!!! so what??!! quote>

Actually no one knows that for sure... they could have done it many times before and just got caught this time... but like i said... no one knows... only Bellichek and the GM... also you can compare it to Barry Bonds because as Bond beat records the Patriots have set the standard in the Salary Cap NFL... and both may be tarnished because of their actions.

Do you think taping signals allowed adam vinitarie to kick 3 Super bowl winning feild goals and the snow bowl kick? do you think it was taping signals that injured drew bledsoe, and decided Tom Brady would start? was it signals that allowed randy moss to burn triple coverage on sunday for a 50 yard td? was it signals that allowed Rodney harrison to complete the 2003 super bowl with a broken arm?? quote>

Though you have a strong arguement think about everything else before those FGs... The games were close and the patriots just pulled it out in the end... either way this whole thing would make you wonder about everything since they started winning... Maybe not their first year but ever since...

It makes you wonder how they were able to keep winning even though they have completely changed their team since 2003 [because of the cap] not saying that they arent good... but there has to be some years that they have had that just defy thinking...

Im not saying that the players arent any good or what they have done for Boston or New England as a whole... but did they do it right?

Which brings me to another thing.....NO CLASS? LT YOU HAVE TO BE FRICKING KIDDING ME?? once again, hes just jealous of the patriots. LT has never won a super bowl. The Patriots have won 3 in this decade. quote>

Ok what he is talking about is how the some of the Patriots acted after they beat the Chargers last year... alot of people not just Fil think it wasn't right...

And how can you compare a whole team to LaDainian? Yes the CHARGERS havent won a Super Bowl this decade... but they are in a really tough conference... It takes a whole team to win a Super Bowl not one Player... the Chargers have been missing a few key elements each year but most that follow the league say this year is their best shot... and i agree with that...

    In Other News...

Commissioner Goodell visited injured Kevin Everett for over 90 minutes today. While Kevin couldnt shake his hand, he is making an extremely uplifting recovery. He can now move most of extremities except for his hands... which will come with time...

Thank you for my defense TMS and also this WASNT the only time the Pats did it. November 19 2006 they did that at Lambeau Field against the Packers. The Packers personnell were tipped off that someone in the Pats team was doing it so they caught the guy and after a temper tantrum was escorted out of the stadium. I still stand by my quote and am not changing it. Jealous? thats quite funny Im not jealous that a ONCE respectable team find ways in an uncompetitive manner to win whatever it takes which by all means is by finding ways to cheat to gain a competitive edge. Theyre nothing but a disgrace to the NFL and I do hope Goodell hits them where it hurts bc it already shows once you are caught cheating in a game you will get whats coming to you. If you think that the Patriots are fair in doing what they did, then shame on you. and shame on the Patriots coaching staff.

Well, if this has been going on for a while, I'd say it started (ironically) back when parcells and belicheck were together with the jets or pats. Probably some other teams doing it, and the patriots are just the beggining. As for the penalties, im glad we got off easy. We still have another first pick (from 49ers), and the fines shouldn't be much trouble to the team. Im just glad they didn't lose both firsts, the win, or somthing that would really wreck the team.

Well, how would "videogate" effect the roster of the team? What happened was, 2001, they had everyone at the right place, right time, but 2002,  suddenly there team was slow and old. The total remake in 2003 was the doing on Scott Pioli, who has nothing to do with this scandel and should be given lots of credit for there success. Hes the best at was he does, and he was able to get rodney and rosie, as well as dillon and randy. And don't get me started on his great d

acted? Has america suddenly become puritan again? Did we pass the law that says no dancing and singing? besides, If the chargers one, merriman would run to midfeild and start humping air like he does after a sack. btw, i shouldn't be insulting LT...hes a good fella, cept for when he talks bout the pats.

Filasimo-i wrote a big long response to this, then i saw the "disgrace" part. You have obviously gone out of your mind. I see no point in argueing with you, because I know that you'll be sending out apologies when the Pats get  number four in febuary. If you want to disagree with me, please do so peacefully, like TMS, instead of firing off random insults at my team.

so....would any like to talk about sundays game? or shall we ***** and complain some more?

Personally, I think the Patriots got off WAY too easy.  The punishment should have been something along the lines of Belicheck being suspended for the rest of the season (although I wouldn't have complained at all if he had been banned from football entirely) the offensive line being suspended for two games, and then the defensive line being suspended the following two weeks.  But that's just me.

In one regard, the Patriots are a disgrace to the NFL along the same way that steroids has really kind of ruined baseball.  Again, this is my personal opinion, but I don't care if the Patriots even win the Super Bowl this year.  They aren't going to be getting an apology from me for thinking that they suck.

I forget if I read it in this thread or heard it on TV, but somewhere I remember the comment being made that this still doesn't change the fact that the Patriots won their Super Bowl appearances.  Actually, it does.  If I remember correctly, the Patriots never won those games by more than a field goal.  That isn't in anyway even remotely close to dominating the game, and if they're stealing signals, then that could have easily tipped things in their favor by allowing them to gain extra yardage.

I seriously have to believe that the Patriots are several notches below what they've made themselves out to be.

I didnt say that others teams werent doing it... in fact, earlier in this thread, i said that there are probably others doing it or have been planning on doing it and the Patriots were the ones to get caught.

Also i do agree that the Patriots are a disgrace to the NFL right now.

Im not saying that the changes they they made each year change the fact that they are very well coached it just makes you wonder how they were able to KEEP winning about the same amount each year and then make it to the playoffs and barely beat people...

The country hasnt become Puritans... its just about respect and sportsmanship... and "making fun" of anyone is wrong... when TO did it to Ray Lewis [i think it was TO] i was offended because... to me... he was disrespecting one of the greats of the sport... That is why people are offended about what they did last year...

I would hope that the Patriots do not win the Super Bowl this year... not just because of what they did... it is because most people would be in a big uproar about it... and as i said on Tuesday... the NFL is on a roll right now and this would really hurt... in my opinion...

Yes, VT, that was lenient... but like i said before it sends out a strong message... especially since they took Draft Picks away... but during the investigation they find that this was going on for more than one game than this will be grounds for Bellichek to be kicked out of the NFL...

in response to VTs comment i rest my case the only thing ill apologize for is that a supposedly great team destroys the competitive integrity that what makes football great. it indeed is a dark day in football because of this ignorance of a coaching staff and desperation for a win........ me gone out of my mind? thats funny just remember there will and always be asterisks to every game they won

    Heres one

    Patriots over the Chargers 41-7*

after the Chargers hold them down to 75 yards in the first quarter then somehow the Patriots started reading their defensive plays and begin to run screen plays on the Chargers and winning the game by a "blowout"

(hence the asterisk on the score)  3.gif

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

    STEX Collections

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!
