Okay, I've just gone through this whole thread (the pilotdaryl / Voltaire feud was hilarious) and can't find any mention of the VOR Checkpoint and Compass Calibration Pad and I don't see much info anywhere else on the internet, either (I just did a search).

Can someone help me out with their purpose and where in an airport would they be found?

Ok! Thanks! Also, I don't really get this part. Aren't runways supposed to go one direction, because from the pictures and tutorials I have seen, and with the designators facing different ways, it seems as if the wgole runway is just pointing inwards. Can someone explain this to me?

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking why the runways have markings going in both directions? That's an easy answer: That's how it is in real life. Use Google Maps/Earth and look at your local airport. the runway will, in most cases, have designators and markings for both directions.

Okay. Thanks Simzebu! I was a little bit confused about why you had designators faced different ways, but after some research, (and although some of you may already know this,) runways are used for both directions, and not just one-way. Or that is atleast what I read. Thanks for your help! By the way, I looked on Google Earth, and I think I see what you mean. Thanks!

Er, well yeah... Runways would be incredibly inefficient if we only used one direction.

The VOR checkpoint is a marked place on the runway that is approved for checking your VOR receiver and CDI for calibration errors or malfunctions. You park over this and tune in the frequency and radial specified in your AF/D - or at some airports it's listed on a sign by the marker. Most major airports do not have these as they have the more accurate VOTs which you simply tune the frequency and set your CDI to180° or 000° as the VOT sends only the signal for 000°. Anymore than a 4° deviation in either of these tests and your nav radio is too inaccurate for IFR flight and you need to have the radio serviced to be legal in such conditions. As VORs work by line of sight, these points will be at a spot on the airport that doesn't have buildings between it and the VOR being used for the test.

The Compass Calibration Pad is the same concept. All the electrical equipment aboard the aircraft, and the metal that it's made, of cause compass deviations that must be calibrated and marked on a card on the aircraft's compass, listing the actual magnetic headings for any given reading in the*****pit.

Does the forum really censor*****pit? Not very smart censoring then.

EDIT: Wow, it does. But it doesn't censor c0ckpit. Wonderful.

I'm probably gonna ask this every month, so, any progress? (I mean on the RMIP, not any of your other projects)

just search Voltare on STEX, while at it why not search for Ace_Bovenopdeberg too.

Those are more or less the essentials, then theres a few more things from various other users too, just be sure to read the readme's, can save you a lot of pain and make your airports look 100 times nicer 4.gif

Been working on this a bit:

But not much progress in the RMIP department. Usual reasons... RLS etc etc plus right now I am building a rather complex scenery package for Flight Simulator.

That looks very good! The detail is  amazing! Keep up the great work

Question: are there any plans for the A380?

The detail in that is pretty impressive, and even better: it is a smaller 737 variant.

The below was posted over at the ACE thread. I got no results... so I thought I'd try here. 4.gif

    Okay, one more question...

    air2zb9.jpg

Alright... see the large Northwest plane? Okay, notice the color of the ground around the plane? Well, I'm having trouble finding the 1x1 piece with that color.

Can anyone help? Oh, BTW, that's not my work above.

BTW, I'm working on my airport and will have pics up soon... (but not here.)

    Oh, help is appreciated. 35.gif

Voltaire was working on Diagonal Runways? Na, I think you're getting confused with Voltaire and Dredgren (who's also working on wide runways), probably because he posted in this thread too.  He hasn't been active for quite a time though.  If you're really interested in it, the link to the board is here.

ccecill, the Lot you're looking for is in RMIP-2 SAE Volume 4, which was released separate from our main T&J pack due to upload size limits. It appears along with the other 747 Gate fillers here:

    menurg5.jpg

Wade11, you can delete and re-install without FileJuicer using the .zip link, at the first page of this thread. It's the first time I've heard of that problem, anyone else have experience solving it?

Thanks ShadeSlayer, The_Hutt , Duvad, colton, Seahawk_fan, Godzillaman

Other AC members are working on more liveries and aircraft, some of which are un-announced, due to the fact they are very early in development.

The scenery package is just for FS9 (so far), with about 30% completed over the course of two months. It's quite a change from SC4 -- there's no grid, so designing compound-curves and angles, is easy and straightforward. No restrictions on building/prop placement either. To make it right takes time though -- so it'll be awhile before I return to creating for SimCity.
