You will want t download the Ace Airport Pack which contains all of the terminal buildings that you are looking for. On the STEX Exchange, if you enter ace_bovenopdeberg into the search field, it should take you straight to them. I hope that this helps and enjoy!

Stay Fabulous!

A bunny  35.gif for you RG59061, for recognizing the livery airline and date. I'll release it at some point, but not yet -- there's still work to be done, mainly on the windows and tail. Braniff and a couple other defunct airlines are at the top of my list for additional skins. But for now, I've become interested in modding the "midprop" automata:

    midprop2js9.jpgmidprop1nr4.jpg

This model, more than any of the other aircraft, is in need of improvement. The default skin is chunky and off-color, the wireframe itself is deformed in several places, and the uv map needs serious attention. So far, I've re-shaped the nose and made a test skin. It looks 100% better already, and once I'm done, it should look like a whole new plane.

For some quality BATed buildings I'd also recommend the SWAP and MICairport packs Michael1980. Terminals from years ago are still available on the STEX too, though they are essentially LE'd recombinations of Maxis buildings.

I'll have an update with pics of the Volume 3 taxiways soon, probably on the weekend.

    great idea with those stairs

EDIT: what's up with runway marking packs? have I missed some or are there still no improvement packs for wide runways?

The only wide runways I've done yet were in RMIP 1.0, but further development is around the corner, possibly next month. And btw those rolling stairs were released in S.A.E. Volume 2 -- they're mainly on the midprop lots though, so if you've avoided using them, you may not have noticed the stairs.

Glad to see you're still progressing. I just added a small airport into one of my sceneries. If I had any clue where to start with BATs and such, I'd offer to help you along.

    hm...

got a problem with the RMIPs.

for some whatever wierd reason, my wide runways don't show up no more.

they're installed correctly, with all dependencies, but now they won't show up in the menu.

once I had the mml but removed them since they didn't work properly, and now only the small 32m runways show up.

    what could it be?

    EDIT: problem solved... my fault.

Thanks for the Bunny Votaire. I am glad to hear that you will be releasing the 707 Re-Skin in the future. I am really looking forward to having an even more realistic & retro Airport.

I must also say, thank you for the work you are doing on the "Mid-Prop". Shortening and shrinking the nose has made it look more like the real 1950s Lockheed Constellation that it is modeled after. Although, the plane is missing two of the three vertical stabilizers on the tail structure. Do you plan on adding those back in; or are you planning on converting this from a "Connie" into a Douglas DC-6 or a Lockheed Electra? All in all though, fantastic work as ever!

You still get an 11 in my book! (Thank You Spinal Tap!)

Take care Voltaire! (Hey, that rhymes!)

    Sincerely,

    RG59061

You're on the right track RG59061 (and another bunny 35.gif for knowing your piston types!) I've decided to convert the midprop into a DC-7, since it's already the right length and adding the Lockheed triple-tail isn't possible. How about this for some retro coolness 10.gif

    dc7gatelh3.jpg

It's not quite done yet, but the livery is basically complete. Modeling a Connie (or better yet, a Super Constellation) would be uber-cool, but I dont think it can be done with the current automata.

To satisfy my own curiosity I compiled a list of the Maxis midprop's construction, it looks like they threw it together from various parts of popular late piston-era planes:

    - the fuselage and (center) tail of a Lockheed Constellation (not the L-188 as I wrote before)

    - engines and windows of a Douglas DC-6

    - the wings of a Douglas DC-7

    - red/gold livery on a pastel purple hull 47.gif

How about a screenshot SpokaneFlyBoy? I'd really like to see how a real pilot makes his SC4 airport. And I'll PM you later on some ideas for getting involved in airport-making that don't involve modding & modelling. But if you're interested in learning how to BAT, T Wrecks is holding classes inside a thread somewhere, search for "school" in the forums and it should pop up.

The initial set of grass-shoulder diagonal taxiway lots is assembled and ready for modding:

    vol3alphaba4.th.jpg

Upon further testing I found that 2 or 3 more fillers are needed for completeness. This entire set will be replicated with both asphalt and concrete outside each piece, so you'll be able to run any piece next to/through aprons and ramps. Each turn is split in half so you can combine the pavement & grass pieces to suit your needs.

There are several compact intersections, elbows, and a convenient quarter-turn, plus the basic diagonal wedge pieces. Most of the work was in the geometry of the edges; compound curves had to be used in many cases to make them look right. Standard intersections between diagonals will only need the quarter-turn and 3 basic pieces. It's harder to combine othogonal and diagonals, many configurations require building out the center of the intersection, in order to provide enough space to attach the necessary parts. All in all though, it's a pretty good system. More pics of assembed intersections are on the way as soon as I finish the fillers.

I ask: Do you have a piece that will allow diagonal T-intersections and +-intersections?

I must say Voltaire, I am with Pixelrage and Blahdy on this one. Your KLM Douglas DC-7 looks spot on and the orange caution cones are a magnificent touch. They really add the right detail to the walkway.

Forgive me for being forward on this one, but would it be possible to request this same DC-7 or even the Boeing 707 you re-skinned to be done in the classic Pan American World Airways livery? (However, if you re-skin the 707, I think the 1960s scheme with the single blue stripe down the side would be more appropriate).

I really miss seing PanAm planes flying these days. PanAm, Brannif, Western, National, and even TWA all represented a time when the airlines of America were focused more on passanger service, comfort, amenities, oppulence, and style then today where a handfull of giants bicker over rising fuel prices and instead cut customer service to compete. Oh well, hopefully they will learn or we will all return to the days of rail travel. I'm sure I am not the only one who feels this way.

Well, take care my good friend and as always, keep up the fantastic work!

    Stay Fabulous!

    RG59061

P.S. Voltaire, could I also get your opinion on my two recent airports that I have built using both your and Ace's airport packs? I have posted them in the "Show Us Your Airport" page and they are on page 10. If you don't mind. Thanks!

Your work on this is simply astounding Voltaire, so much effort and detail into an incredibly realistic pack. The most realistic airports simcity has ever seen!

    Great work.

Thanks TP, Pixelrage, blahdy, chocolatemax & RG59061! I'm still fiddling with the tail of the 707 trying to get rid of the awful black bands on the leading and trailing edges. I've got several airlines in mind for further skins, first up will definitely be a couple of those you mentioned RG. I too miss the clipper liners, I'll do both the 707 and DC-7 with period-correct Pan Am markings soon.

I'll send a PM about those airports RG, I haven't seen them yet but I'm going to take a look now.

    Dear Voltaire,

I really do appreciate you taking the time to view and comment on this Voltaire. I look forward to reading your critique and I value your expertise on this matter. It is nice to finally meet someone as passionate about civil aviation as I.

I am also extremely excited to read that you will be creating and releasing multiple skins for the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-7 respectively. I and many others here can not wait. I do have one question however. A time ago, re-skins were released for the Train Automata by both Big Red Fish and Trolca. Part of the deal was that you could insert the skins into the Plug In folder and they would appear randomly in the game.

So, my question is, will it be possible to have your skins appear randomly at the gate in the livery's created or will it only be one livery only? It is certainly less realistic having nothing but a sea of the exact smae plane in the same scheme all over your aiport. Just curious though, if this is not possible, I completely understand.

I really do wish that there was something that I could do to assist you in your endeavour, but I posess no BAT skills whatsoever. Right now it seems, I am only able to give moral support and encouragement. But, if that is what I can do, then so be it!

Again, thank you so much Voltaire, and please send my regards and thanks to Ace as well. With the work that both of you have done, Sim City4 has become a new and more interesting game all over again.

    Please, Stay Fabulous!

    With sincere regards and respect,

    RG59061

This has been asked many times, but until fufuda (Airport Modular Pack) makes his Multiple Skins for in-game planes mod, it stays to one airline due to the way maxis modded it.

Teaser: You could call the airline for the defaults "Will Wright Airlines" as you can see Will Wright in front of a globe on the 707 and the 767.
