Hmm... so is Oregon. Outside the Willamette Valley, it's rural paradise... but then, the rural is quite different than that of Indiana. In eastern Oregon is high desert... the kind of place that you would imagine a 'western' movie to be shot in.

Western Oregon is heavily forested... well... ignoring the heavy logging that goes on here.

Hello.

I'm a sad and forlorn SIMCITY 4 user hoping to find something fresh in the game.  I'm very thirsty for water, but the land is all bone dry.  There's only ocean, and I cannot drink salt water.  No lakes.  The only water anywhere is way down in those deep canyons where there are no roads... if you get my drift.

Can I borrow your divining rod?

Hi everyone - I'm a 23-year-old pizza delivery driver in Ames, Iowa. I graduated with my B.A. in Political Science from Iowa State last year - which probably explains why I'm still delivering pizza 18.gif. This, in turn, probably explains my obsession with making my simulated transportation networks the best they can be. On some level, I guess I'm seeking karmic leveling for the fact that Ames has only three or four roads which run the entire length of the city, n-s OR e-w; lacks a true in-city expressway (despite the city's multiple disconnected projections in all directions); and has no alternate parallel routes or frontage roads in its busiest commercial district. I can assure you that anyone who's ever traveled South Duff Avenue at 6 PM on a Friday has undergone a serious test of his or her faith in humanity. And don't even get me started on the Grand Avenue T-junction thing... no way to keep going south unless you cut over a mile in either direction. 25.gif But, as usual, I digress. 44.gif

As far as SimCity: Blame my parents. After Christmas, 1990, there was no turning back. I've gotten my hands on each subsequent SimCity edition within three months of its release, and have joyously watched 3x3 fixed lots and orthogonal roads evolve into multiple densities and diagonal streets and avenues and rectangular buildings and other groovytastic things. 9.gif

The rest of me: Male, single, bound for Hamline Law School in St. Paul, MN, in six weeks. When I'm not playing SimCity, I'm probably either lifting weights, reading whatever I can get my hands on (usually smart-alecky socio-political commentary of some kind), burning CD compilations of wacky disco/punk no-wave music, or testing the coverage of my pirate radio station, arrrrrr!!! 44.gif

New member here...

Thought this was a good place to make a first post.  I'm 28 and living in California, USA, finishing my degree in graphic design and working for an engineering firm doing graphic design and reprographics (basically i'm a glorified Kinkos employee that gets paid a lot more)3.gif

I have been a fan of SimCity since classic and own every iteration. (Hence my tendency to go with grids, but after looking at other peoples cities here, i think i'm, going to nuke my towns and start over).  SimCity3 blew me away and thought it would be hard to follow it up.  SimCity 4 blew my socks off.  This game IS the ultimate city builder and i can waste countless hours planning and building.  I waited until I got really bored of SimCity3 to buy the SimCity4 and rush hour set.  Damn i'm glad i waited till Rush hour came along.  I'm actually just off playing a lot of Diablo2, which I take a long break from every once and a while. (I hate and love that game!!!) I decided to continue working on my Bay Area California region, since it had been a long time since I even played SimCity4.

I love looking at other peoples transit systems and thinking of new ideas, other than my conventional grid system.  I haven't really ever used cheats and enjoy making a balanced budget and build slow at Cheetah speed to amass around $1 million simoleans in about 100 years.  Thats when I start building up.  I'm going to have to get the NAM, because it's just awesome.  My transit systems really suck.  I'm all about streets and busing. 9.gif

Anyway, hello. 38.gif
