Fantastic, as usual.  You're the master of snaking roads up hills. 44.gif

Winston Churchill is generall credited for saying something to the effect of: "People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf". That about sums up my life, besides the "rough men" part.

    Wow, Jeronij, [:0]

You make it look so easy.
One thing strikes me though: You do not get the No-road connection zot.
When I was playing around with connecting a commercial restaurant ( Captain Jacks Seafood Restaurant by simgoober) to your tarmac trail marks I immediatelly got a no-connection zot. How did you deal with this? 42.gif

For the rest.... well what can I say that has not been said before. Wonderfull. 44.gif
Just remember to enjoy this summer. (it's now 25+ degrees in the Netherlands something unusual) 10.gif

As usual, a piece of art! Your scenes are always so peasefull and bucolic. I can imagine walking up the hill through the grass towards the building.

The narrow roads/paths and round abouts. Where are they found?

    Jeronij,

I totally understand you, why you want to call it ends - everything has to end at some point. Just think, you have given so much warmth with your replies, so many ideas to several others, how to enjoy the game and build better cities, and of course, we shouldn't forget the multipurpose terrain conforming lots/bats that you have contributed to us. At least 20 (probably more) CJs here have a very strong influence from you.

Your CJ is a very strong community gatherer also, because of the time that you have taken to respond each comment, no matter how little your admirer said. You are a good man.

Your friend (I hope in future),

    Mika

What a nice tutorial amigo, this is very kind of you to put up something like this for us to use. I just try the more simpler aproach, just terraform a plateu or a simple hill with the mayor terraform tools, and then just use roads to flatten it and then if I want a slope just drag a road down from the hill or plateu.

I must also say that the lot of the Jefferson Memorial looks great! I really love the way you used your trails up to the lot, looks really nice. I must say that your ability to landscape is truly amazing, great work!

Jeroni, my friend, I'm a little shocked and a bit sad to hear SCR is coming to an end. [:0] It has become almost a part of my daily routine. On the other hand, I'm glad you are doing what feels right for you (and the family), and Jeroni..: I'm very very curious what you will create next!! 5.gif

In a few days, you will have created one hundred pages of pure creativity. For all the length of those hundred pages people have been telling you how amazingly fabulous your creations are. Every comment has been true: with Sculpting Columbia River you have created an ICON on SimTropolis, something that many people will never forget. I have enjoyed all the time I spent here and must tell you I have the utmost respect for your creations, but most of all for the person you are. You're one of the kindest, most modest, most inspiring people I've met in my life. 19.gif

As for the tutorials, I do think many people would appreciate more of them. But watching SCR grow, watching what you did, how you did it and what you wrote in all of your comments about it, taught me allready how to do these things you do in your tutorials. These techniques I know of, because of you (mainly). Perhaps many dedicated readers of SCR feel the same and are therefore reluctant to comment on it. A thread only about terraforming / sculpting will never be as popular as SCR, I doubt anything will, but that doesn't mean it's not appreciated.

My friend, take care, I'll stick with SCR till the end and trust me to be one of the first to be a loyal fan of any future CJs you make.
    Regards,
    Lonaryl

I respect your decision to end the CJ, and it is good to go out on top. It will be sad to see one of the best CJ's on Simtropolis come to an end...but im sure your future works will be just as creative and inspiring as SCR...thankyou Jeronij!

Jeroni, First off what a wonderful tutorial.  You have a wonderful way of showing and explaining your techniques much the Darmok does.  Wonderful use of the trails and transit systems surrounding the landmark as well.

On a more personal note I just wanted to say that your decision is totally understandable.  I am sure all of us here at Simtrop who frequent this work of art daily will surely miss it.  I also wanted to say thanks for teaching me more about this game than I thought was possible.  It wasn't until I started following SCR and Anduin Valley that I got excited about playing this game we all love so much again.  So, Thank You and I will certainly be following anything you present in the future.

You deserve a break! Though it will be sad to see this CJ end... Just take a few weeks off and see how ya feel 2.gif At any rate, im sure any other CJ you start up will be as hectic as this one as much as everyone loves your work.

I do have one suggestion though. Before you start your next CJ how bout posting some dependency lists for your custom lots and maybe put the lots on the stex? Its an idea anyway. Im sure if your too tired to do it someone would volunteer to help or do it for you.

Till then try not to pull your hair out getting this CJ wrapped up. Even w/o all those extra pics you will probably end up with more than 100 pages before its all over 19.gif

Really is a pity, both you and mrbisonm retiring their grand masterpieces. Will this new CJ be that one with the cities being the names of your CR's most ardent followers? Or is it something completely new?

The terraforming tutorial was interesting, to say the least. You mentioned that you didn't know who the lot belonged to...it's the Jefferson Memorial, an original Maxis. The lot looks rather larger than I remember it in game, though. Perhaps that's custom.

    Jeroni
This will be a two part post

    FIRST PART - The tutorial

It is as usual an accomplishment.

This tutorial is representing you very well! Your patience, your attention to details and simple beauty, the fact that you are an active part of Simtroplis community having at heart to help everyone either by
    a) showing everyone how you do it
    and
    b) even giving the tools you created to do it better!

So for this tutorial, and the attached file, I thank you very much. 5.gif

    SECOND PART - Your announcement.

    Amigo,
One can only be glad to have known SCR, even when you announce that it'll end after page 100, cause the good memories we have we'll last a long time.
One can only be glad to have seen the simplicity and beauty you created almost daily, and have used all the wonderful and creative lots you've made and shared so generously.
One can only be glad, to have known you (even just a litlle bit), by reading you comments wich reflect your respect and kindness for your fellow SC4 players, and admiring you great gift for aesthetics.

For all this Jeroni, and the fact that you made me have fun again, you have my undying gratitude. And, as sure I'm glad to have followed this marvellous adventure that was, and still is, Sculpting Columbia River, I'll be reading and following all that you'll share with us.

Jeroni, mi amigo, salud y fuerza!

Nice work on the tutorial.  That's one of the best (and only) uses for the ground lifter I've seen.

If it's true, it's a shame to see it end.

    Hello Jeronij

Although i have never posted anything in your CJ, i was following it from way back.  I even think i remember this site without your beautifull SCR.  But thats a little hazy, so i'm not too sure.  In any case i am a long time regular lurker, but with your anouncement i fealt that it was only right to at least post you my admiration for your aestetic touch to SC4, and as Mickebear said it is good that people like you exist in this community, because without it would have been long gone.

So, i hope that the end of SCR will not mean the end of your involvement here at Simtropolis, and that you will continue to grace us with snipets of your sc4 play, and your general kindness.

Oh, and wanted to tell you that you have a beautifull child, no wonder that you are so inspired in your creations9.gif.

My Jeroni, what a wonderful Tutorial, and thanks for the mod! I will use it for sure! 44.gif

I'm so sorry to hear SCR end, after all those city tiles left undeveloped, I will surely miss this, my no 1 CJ. 15.gif
I hope everyone that has visited SCR enjoyed it, and I too, enjoyed it alot. Although I wasn't here sometimes, this CJ has left a mark on the entire Simcity 4 building techniques, from the use of terraforming, and your selection of mods and lots, this has got to be the Best CJ of the year...in only 7 months, you have over 90 pages of fascinating work. 19.gif

You might just nab about 4 trixies for this CJ, cause I'm in full support of SCR. 44.gif

Farewell SCR in 4 pages...gosh I can't believe you are going to end this...8.gif
I also understand why you have ended SCR, sure alot of us might get bored with our regions at one time, and I guess SCr was zooming quite fast, sometimes 10-20 pages a month, I don't think most CJs could have gone near to even 10 pages a month...

But you my friend, you have showed us what SimCity is all about, not trying to build a massive concrete jungle with 10 million sims 46.gif, but to make a asthetically pleasing place for everyone to enjoy...

Hats of to you amigo, Its so sad to see this great and magnificent CJ go...but once it ends, we will still keep it going for a few days with pages of farewell comment if they wanted to. 19.gif

With all the new things to try, I would love to see a new SCR, rising from the ashes...a TOC would be great, although for you now, it will just take hours sifting through just to find one of your mignificent 90 updates...19.gif

I hoped you enjoyed making this CJ as much as we enjoyed reading it. I really appreciate the work you have done and all the influence your CJ had on mine, and most of the others.

BTW, when your new CJ comes out, I will definately follow it...from the beginning this time. 5.gif

Cheers, and good luck jeroni! 19.gif

    Wow...

What else can be said that hasn't already been said?

You know how I feel about SCR, and nothing can change that. But, beyond that, you are a great person! You are always so kind, and know exactly what to say (even if sometimes the English language can be a pain 2.gif).

Everybody has enjoyed this CJ, and many more who haven't joined SimTropolis yet will be pointed here for a look at a wonderful example of just how great a CJ can be. The future of this CJ is likely to be just as fascinating as what has happened so far.

That said, of course I'm sad that this is ending. Everybody is. But, I think we all understand the reason, and since you show everybody else so much respect, we will show you the same respect in letting you live your life without the constant burden of responding to the endless comments and questions that people have posted in SCR.

I'm happy for you, Jeroni, and I hope you know how much you have impacted the lives of all of us who visit your journal.

And until the CJ ends, keep up the great work! 44.gif
