Hi everyone,

I apologize in advance for my English and if this seems simple and dumb. I've been playing SimCity 4 for over a decade, and while I gotten really good with the game itself, I feel really stupid when it comes to BAT/Lot and all these distinctions. I think part of the reason is that I play on a Mac, and it's so limited in terms of what it can do, and I'm limited in terms of my knowledge of coding, using things like Wineskin and so on.

I feel like what I'm looking for is very simple, but I can't find it, and I wanted to ask if anyone knows about this.

I'm looking for a version of something that exists out there: RaphaelNinja made this RH PlopModd Final that allows plopping all the Maxis buildings into the game. And I understand that the issue of not being able to plop functional buildings without them getting abandonned was solved by Growify.

My question is: is it possible to just download all the buildings that Maxis offers, that RaphaelNinja made into ploppables, as eye candy, or landmarks. I just want to be able to plop, say, 1x1 residential houses, even though they're not functional. I've been trying to build these regions as imitations of regions that already exist. I really want to be able to fill these towns, but I spend hours trying to either get them to build the right thing in the right place, or dealing with silly issues like traffic and so on. And it's such a waste of time for what I am trying to do. These things are fun when you're playing a functional game. But I really just want to try to build a specific thing using eye candy, for a change. I don't care if it doesn't work. I just don't want to waste hours trying to get it to do what I want. Does that make sense?

And I don't care to make things complicated and slow on my computer by downloading all these extra mods and dependencies. I'm willing to do it just by using the Maxis buildings, even though they look plain and simple.

I would super appreciate anyone's help if they know how I can find these RCI buildings in ploppable landmarks. And thank you all, and sorry for my English.

I created this city:

Plopping every single building you see on screen.

To do this, I downloaded a bunch of mods to remove some problems you find on functional cities, like Fire/Riots events, Abandonment/Dilapidation of buildings, No Job Zot appearing over buildings that have unemployed people, etc

Then I use the cheat "buildingplop" to plop the buildings I want in my city, and after I'm done, if I want to turn the city functional, I use the growifier function (site https://www.growifier.com / or DLL https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/36180-growify-plopped-buildings-cheat-dll-plugin/) to make the residential ploppable buildings act like normal growable buildings, without getting abandoned

The problem is: you play in a MAC, and the "buildingplop" cheat is available through the "SimCity 4 Extra Cheats Plugins.dll", so I don't know if it's possible for you to run this in your OS or if there's some alternative available somewhere :(

-------------------------------------------------

If you're able to run the SC4 PIM (https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/29-modding-and-creation-tools/21-sc4pim), you can actually open and edit the residential plugins you want and turn then into landmarks, so you will find them in your Landmark menu and you'll be able to plop them in your cities. This is an easy task, there's tutorials available of how you do it, but it's a bit tiresome since you will need to do it hundreds of time :/

I don't know much about playing or using MAC, so I can only help you with these info I wrote here, sorry :/

What version of MacOS are you using? Are you using the Mac version or (you mentioned WINE) running the Windows version through emulation?

Sadly DLL mods are not available to anyone running the MacOS version of SC4, this will make things trickier.

However, I run WinXP in a Virtual Machine under Catalina, which works great for all the tools/utilities for SC4. You can then make whichever Plop Buildings you like with ease. There is also a web-based tool for making Plop buildings function, the growify tool. I believe that works with both Mac and Windows but do check before trying it.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
