How to rotate props diagonally?

Is there a way to turn something diagonally(such as a texture or prop) in LotEditor, or does it have to come in a diagonal format to begin with? Has anybody ever made any diagonal texture sets? And, there seems to be a real dearth of overlay textures. Any reason why?

The SCILT packages by Cycledogg (CP) have a lot of diagonal overlay textures, and are made to be compatible with several sidewalk mods, so that might be useful. CP also did some diagonal textures for other things apart from sidewalks and paths, so it might be worth to check his dependency files for them.

BAT models are not true 3D models, think of them more like a single wall with a strip of wallpaper on them, each contains 4 walls, one for each rotation/view and wallpaper (textures) that get applied to them. As such, you can only rotate such a model in 90 degree increments, just as in the LE itself, the necessary data for anything else simply doesn't exist unless you've access to the files used to create them and can re-render a specifically rotated version.

The game does use True 3D models, but typically only for Automata and some Transit Models, in these cases it's possible to rotate them however you like and you can make Props from such models too.

As for textures, what do you mean by a diagonal texture exactly?, if you take a regular texture and rotate it 45 degrees, it won't fill the same 'square' as it did before. So whilst you can do this, it is a bit more involved than simply rotating a pattern and since textures must be square there is no such thing as a rotated texture in this sense.

As for a dearth of Overlay Textures, well you clearly aren't looking hard enough, I've thousands I need to dig through when lotting. The BSC Texture Mega Packs (vol 1-3) are some of the most popular textures so are a logical start for anyone, after that the sky's the limit really, there are so many texture packs I'd struggle to list them all here. Of course some are quite specific in terms of their purpose, for example the SHK and KOSC's extended parking textures, (including plenty of useful Grass/Sidewalk overlays that complement the BSC packs).

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Parking and lot textures I have in abundance. And airport textures. I'm looking for more nature oriented textures. I would like to make some pond lots too, but none of the water texture sets I have seem to be complete. Are there any tutorials recommended on creating textures in Tool, which is all I really seem to know how to use?

Try CP's lot texture pack (BSC_TexturePack_Cycledogg_V 01), Vortext's texture pack and KOSC's SHK Parking addons, I use those more for grass overlays than I ever do for parking textures. The first two though are probably going to be more up your alley, since they contain many sets of textures with both grasses and other details, CP's includes flowers and other floral details and I have the feeling might be just what you are looking for.

As for creating textures, if you want to know how to make the textures themselves, that isn't really a SC4 specific thing, plenty exist on the wider internet and it very much depends on which image editor you are using. As for getting those textures converted in to Lot Textures you can actually use, that's not terribly difficult and an App like GoFSH comes with a detailed Readme on how to use it. I personally wouldn't use SC4 Tool for this anymore, another option is PNG to FSH Batch, which is probably the simplest one, you simply use the ID as the filename of the texture, then drag one or more textures onto the desktop shortcut, select a few options and it creates a DAT including them for you.

Bear in mind right now only GoFSH and KOSC's packs will be available unless you have them already, since everything else listed I believe are LEX exclusives.
