    February 2049

The booming economy resulted in increased tax revenue. The government could now invest thousands of coins in renovation and electrification of housing. This of course also resulted in some increase in the rent. Most people were happy, they could afford the higher rent and got a better living standard, but the unemployed and some low income families was hurt by the higher rent.

Moria Tower, erected between November 1983 and March 1984, was completely renovated outside and in, with thermal windows, alarm-system and wireless access to TV and Internet. The rent was adjusted from average monthly 8,05 coins to average monthly 9,30 coins.

The Apartments at Pasture Road No.1, erected between February and June 1933, got laundry machines, thermal windows and new roof tiles. The rent was adjusted from average monthly 6,73 coins to average monthly 7,51 coins.

Many tourists and business travelers coming to Bounty Islands wonder why every time they come back to Bounty Islands, the exchange rate on the coin is always higher that it was last time they came. In an interview with The New York Times, manager of Bounty Bank Ane Van Dijk explains:

Where in United States a load of bread was approx. 0.04$ in 1900 and is about 8.43$ today, in Bounty we regulate or rather revaluate the coin, according to the average inflation of a large number of consumer goods and services, on a yearly basis. So that a loaf of bread costing 10,9 pieces (0,0109 coins) back in 1900, today costs 13,4 pieces (0,0134 coins), which is a relative increase in cost compared to other goods and services, not a result of inflation.

    Jimmy Sanz, Mar. 2049

Jimmy Sanz, was born in the bedroom of a graceful classic style apartment on Cattle Road in September 1983. The son of Verónica and Carlos Sanz. He grew up in fine neighborhoods of Bounty City and was educated at President Smirnov’s School. In 2002 he moved out of his parents’ home, into a simple apartment at Plateau Village. Working as a firefighter from 2024, he met his coming husband Francois Moreau at Industri Zone Rescue. They married in 2025, now living together in an old simple apartment on Ruben Ruiz Beach Road. Jimmy’s father died in December 2026, his mother in 2030. The couple moved a couple of times ending in a large apartment on the 6th floor in Soler City where they spent 7 years, after which they bought a small somewhat neglected country house next to Mónica Roux Monument, build in the early 1990’s. The price was 397,5 coins, a bargain at that location. Jimmy had green fingers, making a unique and impressive garden. He was offered a job as head Gardner at Experiential Agricultural Institute. Sadly, Francois never made it to his planned retirement in their country house, he died in December 2038, just 68 years old. Jimmy stayed at the house for a while and had a brief affair in 2040 with one of his subordinates, Italian Andrea Ferrara. The leadership of Experiential Agricultural Institute found out and Jimmy got sacked, company policy did not allow a relation with subordinates. Jimmy sold the house, after getting a job at S/L trucks at Cepero Island. He rented a small flat in New Village. In early 2046 he met his current lover, 36 years younger Jan Schneider. In November Jan moved into Jimmy’s flat. But the couple was looking for a home of their own and in 2046 they found a slightly larger apartment at Cattle Road Residential Area and bought it for 269 coins. Pretty steep for a small apartment, but Cattle Road Residential Area have never been cheap and the house was recently renovated. They both still works at S/L Industrial Zone truck depot.

The apartment is at 2nd floor-mid, conveniently close to People's Market

    Maj 2049

Due to crowding on the two largest hospitals in Bounty City, a new healthcare reform was passed. Leading to the construction of a new very large hospital, with room for 25% more patients that the previous hospitals in the city. President Carla Bruno admits that Maria Bird Hospital constructed as late as 2041 under the previous President, was a disaster and waist of tax payer’s money, not able to attract qualified staff, with its rather remote location and must be torn down.

The healthcare reform also includes more specialization. The previous Bounty City Hospital, located in Harbor district, will be specialized in cancer and medical treatment, now named Ruben Ruiz Medical Hospital. The previous Saint Mary’s Hospital will be specialized in surgery and cardiovascular diseases, now named Carla Bruno Surgery Hospital. The new large hospital will be responsible for acute reception and trauma, pain and respiratory support and infectious diseases. It will be named Bounty Central Hospital and will also be in charge of overall hospital administration. 68 years old Dr. Verónica Edwards was appointed national director of healthcare.

Bounty Central Hospital was located on the previous parliament ground, in the new city park.

A temporary park facility built to meet the tourism industry's wishes for a beautiful urban environment, until the area develops.

    Helena Weber Family, June 2049

Helena Weber is the daughter of Alba and Javier Weber. Granddaughter of Norma Ciccone and Karl Emil Weber, her family can be traced back to Adrián Ciccone (born at Bounty Islands 1930) and his mother Greta Navarro (born in Italy 1901). Helena was born November 1991 in her mother’s apartment at Old Banana Road, Plateau Village. Educated from President Smirnov’s School. In 2010 she moved in with her boyfriend Álvaro López, at the 3rd floor of Ruiz Tower on Cattle Road. Helena gets her first job in 2013, working at a fishing boat in Bounty Bay. Helena’s father Javier Weber died 62 years old in August 2018. Helena had a miscarriage in 2022 and again in 2032, after which the couple gave up on children. Helena’s mother Alba Weber died 66 years old in October 2026. From 2023 Helena have worked at Bounty Cigar's Limited, the company held a large 25th anniversary reception with employees, customers and suppliers last year, 25 years anniversary is very unusual at Bounty Islands. In 2026 Helena and Álvaro rented a nice and rather expensive apartment on Cattle Road, where they still live. They are not married.

Helena on her way to the bus stop at Cepero’s North Town Road. After a check at Cepero North Hospital. She has been feeling a bit dizzy lately, lets hope it is nothing serious.

    August 2049

Construction of the new Parliament Building has ended, the political parties are swiftly establishing themselves in their new offices, as the campaign for the 2050 elections has already begun. According to the latest opinion pool, the sitting government with Alternative Living, The Christian Democrats, The Workers Front and The Right-Libertarians will get about 51.5% of the votes and be able to continue. President Carla Bruno is very popular and it seems very likely that she will continue on the most important political post in the Bounty Islands. But things can still change and new surprising constellations is always a possibility.

As the story have been going for a long time, I think it is time to do some editorial posts summing up some story concepts and the families we follow, hoping to make it easier for readers to understand the story. This will be the first, more coming from time to time.

    Editorial Posts

The Order of Fen - "Fenna Chapel", “Gaia’s birth of Jesus Monument” and "Abbey of the Holy Mother"

"The Order of Fen” sometimes just “The Order”, is a holy order of Christians (mostly Nuns). Named after 20 years old Dutch immigrant Fenna Bruno (1878-1912), who came to Bounty in 1898 and founded the first chapel and nunnery, later named "Fenna Chapel". Fenna founded another nunnery “Alicja Chapel” in 1904. In 1935, under the leadership of Alicja Volkov, “The Ordre” was excommunicated from the Catholic Church. As, after a nun by the name of Bella Esposito had visions of Jesus being born directly out of mother earth, “The Order” rejected that Mary was Jesus mother. Later the same year Sergio Navarro, foster son of Alicja Volkov, and his followers erected the now so famous “Gaia’s birth of Jesus Monument” at the time located in a rural area at the edge of East Jungle.

    The Monument 1939

    tvNltei.jpg

From the 2nd half of the 1900’s, the role of the “Order of Fen” slowly changed, as religion their believe system, met hard competition from the larger and better organized Catholic Church and later also Spiritual Baptism spread to the island, mainly from Barbados. More and more people saw “The Order of Fen” as a cultural institution and a part of Bounty folklore, rather than their religion. Consequently, in 2036 “The Order of Fen” turned Fenna Chapel into a museum, sold Alicja Chapel, Sergio Worship and D'Angelo Monastery, and build Abbey of the Holy Mother. Now gathering all nuns and monks of the order. Besides, a few yearly ceremonies at the monument, today the only building where locals and tourists can attend the unique religious services of the community. Notable Leaders: Fenna Bruno, Alicja Volkov, Sister Birgitta, Sister Sullivan.

Carmen Pérez, the partner of Aleto Johnson and mother of Álvaro Pérez died. Carmen was born in Córdoba Spain 1978. Her father Pedro Pérez was 13 years older than her mother Milagros. When her mother was widowed in 1983, she immigrated with her daughter to Bounty Islands. The family was poor, her mother had periods of unemployment. When her mother Milagros died from malaria in 1991, Carmen joined the hippie community “Fungus Town”, at Plateau Village just 13 years old. Despite the circumstances Carmen was able to take a degree from President Smirnov’s School. In August 1999 she gave birth to a son Álvaro. The farther was Aleto Johnson, son of the extremely wealthy Johnson Dynasty, who had left his family to become a hippie. Carmen and Aleto never married but lived together until her death. In 2012 they left the hippie community, whereafter they lived in Bounty City. Carmen worked at the export center in Bounty Bay Harbor for many years, later she joined the military as supply officer until her retirement. Since the mid 30’s the couple lived at the 5th floor of Bounty Bay Residential Complex, where she quietly passed away in her bed.

Sergio Hartmann and Cristina Gutiérrez, November 2049

Sergio Hartmann, was born at Saint Mary's Hospital, November 2016. The son of Mona and Jan Hartman. Sergio spent most of his childhood at Mountain Village. A very clever boy he graduated from President Smirnov’s School in 2028 just 12 years old. Interested in native culture and customs, he spent some years with former classmate Cristina Gutiérrez, living with the nomadic Ayiti Tribe. They came back in 2030, where he started university. Sergio graduated from Bounty City University in 2038, at the time he had already moved into Cristina’s small apartment at D'Angelo Main Road, owned by her family. Sergio started working at SPF Processed Food, Cristina was helping at the family plantation and they bought a house at Village Curve, D'Angelo Village. Their son Wilco Gutiérrez Hartmann was born in July 2041. In 2042 Sergio got a job as junior resident doctor at Maria Bird Hospital, they took a loan and bought a large mansion in Mountain Village for the substantial sum of 982,50 coins. Later the same year Sergio lost his father. Their son Wilco Gutiérrez Hartmann died September 2045 from Isabella Drosophila Febris, just 4 years old. To make things even worse, Sergio lost his job at Maria Bird Hospital, when the hospital closed in connection with the new healthcare reform in May. They are still holding on to the mansion, but they will run out of money if Sergio does not find a job very soon. Due to the open-door politics, good jobs are hard to find and several well-educated people are unemployed. Cristina Gutiérrez works at the Experiential Agricultural Institute, but her salary is not enough to maintain their expensive lifestyle.

    January 2050

During the election campaign, the government has been under pressure from the opposition, about the high unemployment situation. All four ministers and most parliament members have proclaimed that the open-door immigration period, won’t be extended and very hard immigration rules should be enforced by the coming government at least for the coming year and until the unemployment comes in line with the number of vacant jobs.

In a TV transmitted election speech, Carla Bruno explained:

We all expected the industries to suck up a lot more workforce than they did, but if you ask the industries they would have, if it was not because of the overheated construction market. The combination of the large Parliament Building construction project and the needed wind power project, with its remote location in North District, without access to proper road transportation. Postponed the construction of several industrial and tourism related buildings.

Short 2049 Report from State Statistics Department:

Top 3 Industrial Export: Electronics 35.221 coins, Rum 26.644 coins, Leather 18.456 coins

Top 3 Raw Export: Meat 23.448 coins, Coal 12.916 coins, Sugar 9.685 coins.

Tourist Industry: Accommodation 39.487 coins, Other Tourist Consumption: 12.348 coins

    Yearly balance: - 1.529 coins.

Births Rate: 2,25%. Immigration Rate: 2,25%. Death Rate 3,06%. Emigration Rate: 0,00 %. Disappeared: 0,00%

    Unemployed: 5,34%, Job Vacancy 0,08%, Homeless: 1,49%

This year, it will be 100 years since, Jeanne Smirnov of The Workers Front was elected president. The first female president of the republic and also the first president representing the working class and the Workers Union. Of course, the Leader of The Transitional Government from 1920-1930, Cristina Cepero, was a woman, but she was not President, she led a post revolution Military Dictatorship, although mostly a good one. During Jeanne Smirnov leadership from 1950-1960, she was able to reduce the foreign debt with 34%. She was behind the first Coal Power Plant and Secret Bounty Military’s first headquarter. She founded the construction of the State Prison and the Immigrant Department Building. During her presidency expansion into what is now South District took off, with additional plantations and mines further and further south.

The construction of South Cepero Road and the first buildings of what was to become Lucia Village, opened up for further expansion into South District.

    Pre Republic, History

The Prehistoric Period: 3000 BC – 1500 AC

Before Bounty Islands was colonized, the Islands was inhabited by indigenous peoples of the Americas, belonging to four distinct tribes. Tequesta was, at the time of European arrival the dominant tribe on Bounty Main Island, living in several villages along the coast, from Bounty Bay to Shark Beach, where Bounty City is today and in the East Jungle. Jaega was a nomadic tribe of hunters, living in the north and west highlands of Bounty Main Island. Calusa occupied Cepero Island. Ayiti inhabited the western islands, Ayiti Island the cultural center with more permanent camps, D’Angelo Island and Aponte Island mainly hunting territories. Today, Tequesta, Jaega and Calusa culture is on the brink of intinction, whereas the Ayiti nation have been protected by preservation and is mostly secured, although of course modernized.

Map of original indigenous settlements, approx. 1550 AC

    cFhI7NK.jpg

Puerto Rican Settlement 1578 AC – 1886 AC:

Spanish settlers from Puerto Rico settled Bounty Islands in 1578, living in the area that is now Presidente Jakub District. They build a simple fortification, to protect against the constant attacks from local tribes. They produced meat from domestic pigs and cattle, corn and other vegetables, and had some cotton fields and sugar plants. The colony was poor and slowly declined to a point where less that 100 people lived on the Island in 1850.

Painting of Puerto Rican Settlement approx. 1790 AC, unknown artist.

    ZgLsfyq.jpg

    King Alfonso’s Colony 1887 - 1918

After coming to power in 1886, King Alfonso XIII, started new investment in Bounty Islands, and spread rumors of gold to entice his subjects to travel to the island and start production. The kingdom needed first and foremost sugar and rum. The first new plantations started producing sugar around 1890. The local governor built his large mansion that would later become the Parliament building in 1894, also the first distillery (today Original Bounty Rum) started production in 1894. New settlers started to arrive from 1896, where the Fortress was also constructed to protect the growing colony against pirate attacks, after gold was actually discovered in the east jungle. Several pirate attacks were beaten back in this period, with loss of many brave Bounty soldiers. A second distillery Bounty Bay Rum came in 1904, the Naval Station in 1906, the Fishing Pier in 1908. We know that in what is now Bounty City four large plantations produced corn, coffee and sugar around 1910 and cattle grazed in the area between cattle road and pasture road. We don’t know exactly where, but we know that in 1905 a gravel track was established and over the next years a Sugar Plantation and Sheep Ranch was established near what is now Mountain Village. The colony continued to grow, about 350 people in 1918, but the inhabitants was heavily suppressed by the governor and his men. Taxes kept the poor families close to starvation. The average age was extremely low.

    Revolution and Transition 1919-1930

An almost peaceful revolution took place from 1919 to 1920, throwing the governor out of the Islands. Three important women need mention when talking about the revolution. María Ruiz was the widow after distillery worker Ruben Ruiz, after her husband’s death, she organized the distillery workers and is today seen as the founder of Bounty Workers Union although it was illegal in her time and as such not official. Her nick name was Maria Bird, know from Maria Bird Gold and Jewelry, previously the building was a worker owned distillery, founded by her. Also, Maria Ruiz Road was named after her. Sadly, she passed away in 1918 and did not live to see her people in freedom. Another important figure was Monica Ruiz (they are not related). As far back as 1900 the young Monica Ruiz walked from house to house, spreading her dangerous message of repression, freedom and revolution. She was the leader of the secret Revolutionary Foundation, and was behind the “Cultural House”, officially a community house of traditional art, handicraft and music. Unofficially a propaganda machine for the revolution, printing illegal newsletters and pamphlets. Today Monica Ruiz is seen as the real hero of the revolution, whereas historically Maria Ruiz and Cristina Cepero took as much credit than she did. Monica Ruiz died in December 1923, a large memorial park was built, the “Monica Ruiz Monument”, later giving name to Monica Ruiz Residential Area in the north part of Presidente Jakub District. The last important women of the revolution, was head of The Governor’s Private Guards, then 48 years old Cristina Cepero. She took the party of the secret Revolutionary Foundation against the Governor, and as such was instrumental in securing a relative peaceful revolution, where most soldiers immediately surrendered to her. The fact that she took power herself, instead of giving it to Monica Ruiz, was and is debatable, to say the least. Never the less she led the transitional government with success, although maybe longer than most found appropriate. Her most important legacy was the bridge over "Ruben Ruiz Strait", connecting Cepero Island, immodestly renamed after herself. The construction of the “Lower Educational Institute”. And of course, holding the first democratic election. The population was around 425 people in 1929.

Painting by Leonardo De Luca, early 1920’s, it is possibly than the front figure is Leonardo himself, art connoisseurs disagree about the matter.

    February 2050

    The votes are in:

Green Revolution with Alejandro Pérez got 12,57% (-0,06%) of the votes and 9 seats in parliament.

The Workers Front with Dmitry Kowalczyk got 12,41% (-0,44%) of the votes and 9 seats in parliament.

Alternative Living with Carla Bruno got 13,46% (-0,20%) of the votes and 11 seats in parliament.

The Christian Democrats with Chloé Lambert got 12,83% (-0,25%) of the votes and 10 seats in parliament.

The Bounty Conservative with Stefan Klein got 12,00% (+0,12%) of the votes and 8 seats in parliament.

The Right-Libertarians with Juan Ruiz got 12,68% (+0,52%) of the votes and 9 seats in parliament.

Humanity First with Carla García got 12,21% (+0,04%) of the votes and 9 seats in parliament.

Nationalist Action with Jan Müller got 11,84% (+0,14%) of the votes and 8 seats in parliament.

    10,8% decided not to vote

Defense minister Dmitry Kowalczyk from Workers Front took the hardest blow in the election, losing 0,44%

The sitting government (Alternative Living, The Christian Democrats, The Right-Libertarians and The Workers Front) could continue unchanged getting a majority of the votes, despite the fact that they lost 0,37% to the opposition, which is actually a lot in Bounty politics. But as leader of the largest party and sitting president, Carla Bruno chose to dissolve the government and start new negotiations. After a couple of politically tense days in early February, she presented her new government. Quite interesting as the usual system of ministries was also changed.

Carla Bruno will as President lead “The President’s Office”, located at the parliament building and besides being overall responsible, will be in charge of law, foreign relations and immigration.

As ranked 2nd in the government Chloé Lambert (Christian Democrats) will be in charge of the Ministry of Finance, located in the former Traffic and Logistics Ministry building, now renamed to Finance Ministry, being in charge of production, industry and logistics.

Ranked 3rd in government Juan Ruiz (Right-Libertarians) will be Minister of Security in charge of the army, secret service, police and prison service, located in the Military Headquarters.

Ranked 4th in government Alejandro Pérez (Green Revolution) will be Minister of internal affairs, in charge of healthcare, education, environment, religion, sports and culture. Located at the parliament building.

The former Traffic and Logistics Ministry building, now the Finance Ministry

With this change Carla Bruno secured additional 0,5% of voters behind her new government, compared to a continuation of the previous. But it was a controversial decision. First of all she kicked out Workers Front, a party that had been part of every government since the revolution. Secondly, she took back Green Revolution, who left the previous government in anger, just three years ago. At the press meeting, she was of course asked about it, she replied: “Surely, the workers front is important and we will still talk to them, but we have to recognize the voter’s voice. The Union is not as important today, as it was in the previous century. Regarding Green Revolution, we acknowledge their opinion on fuel-tax and cars, but the general working man or women want wheels, saving precious time. Green Revolution know we won’t change policy on that. Should anyone leave the government, Green Revolution or others, we will off course call for early elections."

President Carla Bruno attended high mass at Cathedral de Sainte Thérèse, before election night.

    March 2050

As a consequence of the revolution in 1920, all land originally belongs to the nation, until it is at some point acquired by private investors or company owners. Traditionally squatters who unlawfully occupies government land, have been tolerated. Backed up by The Workers Front, to protect the poor and deprived, who might otherwise live on the streets. Recently, a child has died from starvation in a shack at mountain village and a shack caught fire, killing two unemployed immigrants in South District. This right has therefor been questioned by the media. As the Workers Front is not in office anymore and the other left-wing party Green Revolution have always been against shacks due to risk of pollution. The new government has announced that the police will do much more to tear down unlawful shacks and similar illegal constructions. At the same time promising that there will be build sufficient cheap or social housing. As mentioned in TV1 City’s 10 o’clock news: “a bold claim with the overheated construction market we often see on Bounty Islands”

    Yasmin Al Najjar, Mar. 2050

Yasmin Al Najjar, is the daughter of Martina and Ibrahim Ahmad and Granddaughter of Sister Birgitta, leader of The Order of Fen from December 1947 to her death in 1974. Yasmin was born in April 1974, on Cepero Main, little sister of two brothers, Mikail and Majed. She spent her childhood living in several different apartment, all in Cepero Town, her teenage years in Plateau Village. While studying Yasmin met Naasir Al Najjar. They found old apartment at Cepero Main Waterfront. Yasmin gave up on her studies and they married in 1996. Their daughter Labiba was born in 1999, two years later they got a son Vajid, which they lost to pneumonia in 2005, at the time, to poor to provide the necessary healthcare. After receiving fertility treatments for some time, Yasmin gave birth to their son Farooq, in 2012. She lost her mother Martina the same year and her father Ibrahim in 2019. Yasmin and Naasir have had a multitude of different occupations, and lived many places from Fenna Tower in north to Lucia Village in South. After their children left, Yasmin and Naasir found a small apartment next to Bounty Bank. Their daughter Labiba gave them two grandchildren Alami in 2039 and Azmi in 2040. To her despair Yasmin lost her beloved husband Naasir in 2048. Naasir left her a nice onetime pension sum from his time at Ramos Construction, she used it to get a small but very luxurious apartment with elevator, at Cepero Beach Project. Nice when the old legs hurt.

Yasmin Al Najjar still comes to visit her son Vajid’s grave from 2005, in the jungle that surrounds The Gaia Monument.

    April 2050

Foreign companies are trying to penetrate Bounties consumer marked, resulting in a price war on some grocery products. TV1 City Irina Fernández attempts to give an overview of the marked situation on some important consumer products.

“The most extreme price difference compared to prices a year ago, is seen on the Cheese product range, where European luxury products from France and Italy has forced down the price level on local product, from avg. 30,99 pieces a pound last year to just 22,62 pieces today. Another product line hit by the import of foreign products is sausages, going down from 41,08 pieces a pound last year to 37,65 pieces today. Also locally produced fish and fruits is facing competition from abroad and consumers have seen some nice price cuts of 5 to 8% on these products. Sadly, seen form the view of young families with children, the nutritious cow and goat milk products are not under pressure and seemingly the groceries and supermarkets compensate the losses taken elsewhere, on these products, going up from avg. 13,61 pieces a liter to stunning 20,77 pieces.”

Leone Bay Cheese Ltd is facing hard competition from European products.

Wow, your locations are so nice looking, even the factory areas.  How do you keep track of all the statistic?  Do you just keep referring back in the story or do you keep notes?  25 pages, impressive *:)

    Thanks.

To keep track of all the facts, most important - I have a lot of saves - like almost monthly saves from about 1980, before that yearly saves going back to 1930's - besides that I have an extensive excel file with everyone we have followed from the beginning, the families, birth dates, current age or time of death, family relations and more. List of in-game commodities with "translation" of in-game values to coins/ton or pennies/liter ect. - also a system to analyses apartments rent/month or purchase price to make "values" realistic compared to each other and the in-game salary, and a lot of other stuff I may or may not use later.  The politicians is easier as the game automatically keep them traced. I got a word file with general information of many types, where I also put ideas I may use later and storylines/concepts that I have already started, which need a follow up later.

I can rename buildings in-game, so I do not need to remember their "story" name. Also when you rename persons in-game, they will be in an in-game list, sadly not searchable but if not to many, quite easy to find. That is the way I can find any character I want to post about. In the beginning I had about 20 on the list, now it is about 50. In most cases I do not need to rename someone who marry a character (only if they are old and there is no children) so this add another "free" 25-30 persons to the list of people I can find/follow.

The last but also very important tool I use, is the brilliant search function on simtropolis forum itself. As an example in the Yasmin Al Najjar, Mar. 2050 post, after I wrote her story, I was looking for a good picture of her, I saw that she was heading for "The Gaia Monument" (the game always show where they are heading), I saved, to be able to go back to Mar. 2050, and let the game run to follow her, came to mind that someone from the Islamic group was buried there, but did not remember who. In search function I put "grave" and search only in current topic. Was easy to find, only a few post with "grave", turned out it was her son, nice story related to a picture of her, reloaded back to March.

That was lucky, but I use it in a lot of situations, like when I what to post about someone, checking the latest post about that person, not to miss anything.

    Maj 2050

The leader of opposition party Humanity First, Carla García passed away 70 years old. A replacement is not yet chosen. She was Traffic and Logistics Minister from 2032 to 2040, under president Dr. Carla Robinson’s leadership.

47 years old Chloé Lambert, Minister of Finance, got a lot of media attention when it was revealed that she was living with a woman in a lesbian relationship. It is not that most people really care or are in any way offended nowadays, unless they belong to the small group of the most hardcore Catholics, but celebrity gossip is always good news. For a week or two the paparazzi were following them, hoping to get a click of a kiss or something similar. In the end they hold a publicly accessible marriage at the Ministry, the photographers got what they wanted and the fuss was over. Chloé Lambert took her wife’s last name Durand.

25, Young and beautiful, Nadine Durand, was the secret lover of Chloé Lambert, she is a student at JD International School.

Back in 2033, there was a dangerous fire at Cepero Sewer Treatment. The highly polluted sewage treatment plant, has caught fire again. Spreading dangerous smoke in a large area of the south eastern part of Cepero Town. President Williams School have been closed down, all arrangements at Bounty Concert Hall and St. Isidore Cathedral are cancelled and the tourists at Cielo Hotel have been evacuated.

    Political History of the Republic

The new parliament was constructed between July 2048 and August 2049

    DeNRENs.jpg

The first political parties came to light between April 1927, when Transitional Government leader Cristina Cepero announced the first democratic election, and November 1928.

In September 1927, the first to get enough signatures to be able to attend the election was Szymon Sokolov and his “The Right-Libertarians”, initially representing the upper classes, often home and/or company owners or those with a relative high salary. Ideologically, supporters of a small public sector which deals only with the bare essentials such as military and police and the lowest possible tax. In principle against any law that limits individual freedom. In most situations in favor of importing cheap labor.

Soon to follow was Luuk Willems’ “The Workers Front”, in December 1927. Representing the Workers Union, the poor and deprived. Ideologically in favor of a large and strong public sector and high tax on any kind of luxury. Free school and hospitals and public support of social housing. Reluctant about fast population growth based on immigration as it can lead to unemployment.

Jakub Piotrowski’s “The Christian Democrats” followed in February 1928. They represent the many Christians, and despite the religious differences, have historically been able to attract members of all three Christian communities. Ideologically they represent the balanced society, a democratic humanitarian mindset, where everyone who provide what they can to the community, is welcome and accepted. Morally they are quite narrow minded towards anyone departing from accepted standards, that being gamblers, alcoholics, the lazy or what they see as sexual deviates. They are also against the more avantgarde culture, like abstract painting and jazz in the beginning, later Heavy Rock, Punk, Happening and the like.

The last party to qualify was Emma Álvarez “Nationalist Action”, delivering the necessary signatures in July 1928. Grounded in a demagogic ultra nationalism. Inspired by the growing fascism in Italy and Germany, the party is in favor of a strong nation, with large army and police. They hate immigration as they dream of a Bounty with generation after generation of pure Bounty blood. They are against any agreement with foreign nations that may limit the sovereignty of the nation. They believe anyone should be able to carry firearms.

The first president of the Republic Jakub Piotrowski, was a teacher at the Lower Educational Institute at Park Road, educated at St Petersburg University before he came to Bounty Islands in 1926. (picture from 1927)

Luuk Willems, Foreign Minister 1930-1946 (Workers Front) - Jeanne Smirnov Foreign Minister 1946-1950 (Workers Front)

1950-1960 Jeanne Smirnov President (Workers Front)

Jakub Piotrowski Foreign Minister 1950-1959 (Christian Democrats) Juan Pérez Foreign Minister 1959-1960 (Christian Democrats)

1960-1980 Juan Pérez President (Christian Democrats)

Jeanne Smirnov Foreign Minister 1960-1964 (Workers Front), Antonio Sanz Foreign Minister 1964-1970 Defence Minister 1970-1976 (workers Front), Rubén Álvarez, Defence Minister 1960-1970 Foreign Minister 1970-1974 (Right-Libertarians) Tommaso Leone Defence Minister 1976-1980 (workers Front)

In October 1978, a new political institution was introduced, The Council of the Districts The institution was indirectly democratic, it the sense that the 6 districts, four city districts, north district and south districts, would nominate two candidates each, for the first setting, out of which The Parliament would pick five that would get a seat. The position would then be lifelong, until death or retirement. When a member dies or retire, the districts nominate one candidate each, out of which The Parliament would pick a replacement. From 2025 D’Angelo Islands became its own district, and can also nominate candidates. The Council members would normally be representatives of institutions, area of business or similar important functions of society. The function of the Council, was and is, to discuss and propose initiatives or regulations, that they then suggest to the Parliament. A suggestion needs support from four out of five members. The first Council of 1978 was Carlos Rodríguez representing the educational institutions. Sister Sullivan representing The Order of Fen, Michael Hoffmann representing Bounty Bank, Andrea Bianco representing the Immigrant Department and Carla Ruiz representing small industry and business.

Alba Van de Berg became a member of the Council of the Districts in 1984, representing Cepero Town, at the time 34 years old. She was bisexual and later inherited the estate of her lover Vera Schubert, Shubert Holdings, including Schubert Cigars, Schubert Processed Food and shares in M. Leroy Steel JV, South Industrial Harbor and S/L Shipping.

    Governments 1980 – 2010

1980-2008 Thomas Williams President (Christian Democrats)

The government of President Thomas Williams was unique, in office from the 1980 election to his death in April 2008, with his 28 years, without contest the longest presidential period to date

Jacob Brown Foreign Minister 1980-1986 (The Right-Libertarians), Mónica Clarke (Fernández) Foreign Minister 1986-1990, Defense Minister 1990-2008 (The Right-Libertarians) Tommaso Leone, Defense Minister 1980-1990, Foreign Minister 1990-2006 (Workers Front) Juan Navarro, Foreign Minister. 2006-2008 (Workers Front)

2008-2010 Sergio García President (Christian Democrats)

Juan Navarro, Foreign Minister. 2008-2010 (Workers Front) Mónica Clarke (Fernández) Defence Minister 2008-2010 (The Right-Libertarians)

In August 1985 Arthur Morel’s "Green Revolution" had collected enough signatures to participate in the next election. "Green Revolution" belongs to the left, inspired by NGOs like Green Peace and Conservation International, their main objective is to protect the environment against pollution, greenhouse gasses and deforestation. They haven’t really got a good alternative to industrial production, that can guarantee the current living standard. Accepting the fact that you can’t have everything and nature will eventually die if we want to continue what they refer to as “our greedy lifestyle”. Ideologically Green Revolution prefer an anarchistic intuitive mindset, the freedom of religion, but are not necessarily against the right taxes to regulate pollution and fairly distribute wealth. They could not mind the legalization of cannabis to fight crime.

In May 1988, Josefa Castro’s “Humanity First” had collected enough signatures to participate in the next election. “Humanity First” not only represent the industry owners and investors, but also a large part of industry workers, afraid to lose their job, if too many restrictions kill the factories. They do not believe that global warming as an immediate threat and that scientific inventions can and will solve any environmental issues much better than random restriction on the production. Ideologically they belong to the right, but are not necessarily against importing cheap labor, if needed to keep the factories running. They are against tax on labor, fuel, cars and productions. They prefer road to public transport, and raising the speed limit.  They believe anyone should be allowed to carry firearms

In January 2005 Álvaro Díaz’s “The Bounty Conservative” had collected enough signatures to participate in the next election. A center right party, appealing to the country folk, living and working in the villages of the North District, South District, D’Angelo Island or retired elderly people, who want to maintain the lifestyle and traditions of the past. Ideologically they believe in the traditional family, a man, a woman and their children. They believe the government should have some control with the media, education and the cultural institutions, to avoid what they see as extreme options getting a voice. The believe in protecting domestic production against foreign competition. They believe in a tight security with strong police and the necessary surveillance, to avoid crime and rebellions. They are against demolition or relocation of old neighborhoods and institutions, to make room for what they see as unnecessary progress. They want early retirement, appealing to their elderly voters.

In October 2007, Martina Smirnov’s “Alternative Living” had collected enough signatures to participate in the next election. “Alternative Living” is a center left party. Appeling to the modern educated voter, often living in the Bounty City or the highly populated arears of Cepero Island. Members of the bureaucracy, teachers, scientist, students. Ideologically they hail progress, tearing down the old and build new, no matter if it is buildings or ideas. The believe in public funding of art, media and sports. An atheistic state with a large cultural diversity working actively to eliminate prejudices of any kind. They what to ban consumer sale of firearms.

After just ten years in the parliament Alternative Living got their first president. Former subordinate manager at Schubert Cigars, Martina Smirnov (later Willems), they have now been in power since 2020. Picture from 2027, Martina Smirnov with a bodyguard outside Cathedral de Sainte Thérèse.

    In-game versus Story:

The % of votes are a result of the number of different types of supporters the party got in-game at the time of election. To guarantee that the political changes is not decided by me. Moderate supporters are weighted with 20%, strong supporters 50% and die-hard supporters 80%, the number of seats is semi-fictional and only the % decides who will be president and what ministers are selected. Sometimes a president might not choose the minister with the highest % of voters, if they are close, but rather look for the one gaining voters compared to last election. But that is the exception, normally most votes count more. The Council of the Districts is different, when a slot is free I chose, if someone show up we already know I will chose him or her, otherwise more or less randomly choose whatever fit the story best. Honestly, I haven’t used the political system like government changes, to push edict or constitutional changes, as this is my first playthrough and the focus is on getting all the building and try their settings. Might do a quite different story with more sudden changes and additional chaos next time.

    June 2050

Although the police hit “Loyal to Familia” hard from November 2035 to February 2036, by arresting, prosecuting and sentence several high ranked members of the organization. It only reduced organized crime for a relative short period. In early 2040’s, several smaller gangs emerged, especially at Cepero Islands and D’Angelo Island, where Loyal to Familia traditionally haven’t operated much. Most notable “Soldado de Thomas” presumably led from somewhere in Lucia Village, and “Hermandad Sanne”, a group of native Ayiti, operating from D’Angelo west jungle, allegedly under control of a female Dutch heroine queen. Since the late 2040’s, war have broke between the gangs, resulting in dangerous executions of gang members, often in bright daylight at highly populated areas. This month Juan Ruiz, Minister of Security have reacted, setting up a military task force, to help the police fight organized crime.

64 years old Angelique Gómez, will lead the D’Angelo task force, from one of the barracks in the army camp on D’Angelo Main Road.

To further strengthen the police force, The Minister of Security have provided a hangar, next to the Military Headquarters, to host an air balloon, able to patrol the Islands. Officially to observe traffic, but both media and the opposition have questioned whether police is registrating the movement of innocent citizens.

As a result, the production of Leone Bay Cheese quality goat cheese, might be relatively low in the coming seasons.

    Dolores Sullivan, July 2050

Dolores Sullivan was celebrated by the President, at the Council of the Districts building, at her 90 years birthday in January 2048, no expense spared. Already then, by far the oldest living person on Bounty Islands. Since then, she had a small cerebral hemorrhage, but apart from the short-term memory, she is doing fine. Dolores Sullivan was born in a nice apartment on Chapel Road, the daughter of Chiara Sullivan, later known as Sister Sullivan. 24 years old, Dolores met Alexandre Martin, with whom she got her three sons. Ronnie, Mikel and Noah. The latter two dying while still in childhood. With the death of her mother in 2003, Dolores Sullivan became the chairman of Sullivan Oil. Her first husband died in 2007. After being alone for eight years she fell in love with professional soldier Oliver Brown in 2015. Dolores retired in 2036, leaving Sullivan Oil in the hands of her son Ronnie. Her last man Oliver Brown died in September 2039. Although she kept the summer residence at Indian Road. Lately she bought a house at North Town Road, with a wonderful view of the presidential gardens, where she is staying most of the season, to be close to Cepero North Hospital.

At 628,50 coins, the red house in Cepero North Town, was relative expensive compared to Cepero Town in general.

No doubt the new Parliament Building has affected the prices in the area.

    August 2050

Since elected Minister of Internal Affairs in February, Alejandro Pérez (Green Revolution), have held meetings with biology Professor Javier Gutiérrez from University Research Laboratory and landscape architects from different constructions companies, aiming to find the cheapest ways to replant and reforest, as much as possible of the inhabited areas of the Islands. He is of the firm believe that a greener Bounty City and Cepero Town, will not only lead to better health of the population, but it will also attract more tourists, long term. It will be costly at first, but most of the parliament members agree it will be worth it.

What is left of North Jungle Nature Reserve, is the pilot in Alejandro Pérez larger reforestation project, the first trees and bushes have already been planted.

Editorial: This is my first attempt to implement user created mod in the story. The Mod can create tree spawn and/or plant single trees.

    September 2050

The original owners of Santoro Gold Resort, Lucia and Luigi Santoro, retired a few years back. Since then, the new owners Giorgia Biancho and Mary Wright, has expanded, adding some one family cabins in the area up to Shark Beach Road. Sadly, the new owners have been losing money, as the area was a construction site, way too long. Because the large windmill product in North Jungle, made it impossible to get qualified construction workers. Finally, the full resort is open again.

Giorgia Biancho and Mary Wright renamed the resort to Sunny Shark Beach Family Resort.

The first family to hire one of the new stone cabins was a family of Spanish tourists, Lucía and Lucas Morales and their son Mariano. They used the cabin as a base for backpacking into the jungle. Lucía rating at Fantasy Reviews:

"Staying in a private cabin like this is much nicer than the overcrowded hotel we tried last year, but 15 coins for two weeks, is quite expensive compared to the weekly fee of 3,30 coins we paid at the family hotel. We definitely loved the freedom, but honestly the cabins were almost too large for just one family. Backpacking to Tequesta open Temple was fantastic. Honestly, I think we will bring a tent next time, saving the accommodation fee. Actually two and a half, but ok: three stars out of five."

Giulia Johnson died in 1970, Anisette Johnson became president and sole owner of R. Johnson Holdings. In the early 1980 Anisette extended the workforce at the factory with 20%, adding a new hard-wearing line of fabric, mixed from cotton and wool.
