Hey guys
This is my welcome post
I followed the community for about 5 years but only now did I have the courage to introduce myself.

I have been playing SimCity since I was very young (God knows how many cities I went bankrupt) but only recently did I discover the wonderful world of modifications, by this and so many other communities.

Taking advantage of this introduction I would like your opinion about this small town (I started with a small map to better learn the mechanics of the game)

I am very grateful to everyone who participates, maintains and creates content here. Without all of you, I wouldn’t relive my childhood almost 20 years later (I hope I don’t continue to bankrupt my cities)

My modset is - NAM + IRM for now
Comercial skycrapper cant grows =/

Combining ^this quote with your thread title of "Tips to Improve Small City" and the part about commercial skyscrapers not growing, and I'm going to guess your question relates to getting the larger stage 7 and 8 buildings to grow.

I'll first say I'm not an expert for the taller buildings as I tend to play rural farming communities with small towns which will also have a couple or three larger cities. I believe a key factor is the overall regional demand based on population, education, and how that data is propagated to each city tile in the region. So, it could be as easy as continuing to fill up more and more city tiles and then, in time, the demand for the larger commercial will be sufficient for them to grow.

Hi FlySimMaker and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

It's nice to see you are experimenting with developing your cities. That's a good way to learn new city building techniques, and there are so many ways to play SC4 depending on your own style of design. As Cori says above, regional play is important for wider development, and to have other neighbouring tiles that support each other.

Getting larger CS/CO buildings to grow requires lots of foot/car traffic thru the area. Usually easier once the city is larger and you've got highways and subways running through the same neighbourhoods. Try expanding onto neighbouring tiles to drive up the numbers.

The radical solution would be to try CAM Skyscraper setting. However, I only tested it on at least medium cities and they had really tall Maxis skyscrapers. They're even beyond Simon and Frank-level.

Thanks for the answers and welcome messages
I was afraid that nobody will notice this thread

All these years playing the vanilla version i was a one city guy. I din't even bother to play regionaly (my young mindset was not smart enouth to understand that mechanic)
This time i tried again to make a lone city an grow it maximun as i can. A personal challenge for myself

The map this city in was a challenge too irregular terrain and a mountain in the middle

Now im on the limit because more residents need more jobs an i don have the necessary space for it

I forgot to mention about zoning. I don't know if i did the best job in this city

The beauty of city building games is there really isn't any best you need to worry about. Zone in any manner you like, let things grow, and see how you feel about the appearance after that. You can then keep things as they are or rework it as often as you like.

The key thing here is every one of us has our own viewpoint for what we want to see and so there isn't any right or wrong to contend with. (I personally happen to like mostly rural farming communities, but then I'll also grow a couple of bigger cities into the 75,000 or even 100k population.)
