Hi @Vanz1

Depending on how strong of focus you might want on farming (and limit other things), you might try the SimPeg Agricultural Mod (SPAM). It alters the way the game 'treats' farming to give a more 'rural' feeling.

If you're wanting mid-rise residential buildings and farms, I'd recommend using two neighbour cities:

  1. City A - Containing most of the farms
  2. City B - Containing most of the mid-rise buildings

One of the reasons to use two neighbour cities, is for the agriculture demand issue you already mentioned.  Another reason is that police services become very important as the population of the city increases, and criminals are impossible to catch when you have many large lots like farms (or country clubs), something I refer to as the "Organised Crime Bug".

While you can download specialised crime fighting police stations, or install the Crime Doesn't Pay mod, to fight crime in large lots, another solution is to simply avoid having large lots in cities with high populations.  It's the mixture of large lots and high city population that causes crime rates to spiral.

If your farming city has a low residential population, it might not need police stations at all.

Having these as two neighbour cities can also improve commute favourability, because workers living in the City B have no idea how far they have to travel beyond the city edge to get to their farm jobs in City A.

Another side-benefit of two neighbour cities, is that the avenue running between those cities is an ideal spot to grow commercial buildings, which are always more prosperous when they grow adjacent to a road, avenue or highway that has high levels of traffic.
