It's been over 10 years since I played this game

Hello everyone! I had the sudden urge to buy this game (again!) from Steam. And after playing the tutorials, I realized that I had a ton of mods and buildings that I downloaded from this site that last time I played which was a while ago. So before I go download crazy here, just wondering if the downloads will work even though I bought the game through steam and what should I download? I'm pretty sure there's a transit one out there but I can't remember what it's called.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, your old custom content will still work with your newly purchased game. The main thing is to make sure they're copied into your Plugins folder (in Documents) so that way they'll all be loaded up. For the transit mod, you might be thinking of the NAM (which has a newly released 39th version as of this post). For installing the NAM, just make sure to run the 4 GB Patch which ensures it can run properly with increasing the RAM the game is able to utilise.

Then there is also the RTMT which features additional options for the placement of stations atop transportation networks.

One more thing, in the Steam Library find SC4 right click it and click on Properties, then click on Set Launch Options. Add the command:

-CPUCount:1

into this box, assuming you have not already. The game was designed before multi-core processors existed and will CTD often if it tries to use more than one. This command simply tells Windows to limit the game to only a single core, preventing the issue.

I also recommend everyone to use the SC4Fix patch, it prevents yet another bug from causing CTDs and more besides.

Lastly, a number of minor errors exist in some of the Maxis content, community fixes exist that prevent those from causing problems/not working as intended. The most important ones being the I-HT fix and Opera House Fix, but there are many others also.

I'm a returning player after a long break as well. The pandemic really inspired me to play some older games, and I too had this sudden urge to return to SC4! Welcome back.
