Yes there is a limit. I'm not sure what it is except that I've exceeded it once. It tends to happen on larger lots. If you exceed the limit on a small lot then you are overcrowding the props, as the limit is quite high.

Also some props are wealth dependent, seasonal or otherwise timed, so you may not see them on certain kinds of lots in the game or at certain times in the game.

Ploppable Mansions

Well, i'm created some custom  Mansions in L.E. , the buildings have grown, but i want make it be ploppable.

I used the MAxis Cheat Plugin, BuildingPlop, but can't find my mansions because the cheat organize the buildings for groups not single like L.E.

It's possible find my mansion and put in my city ?

Or edit the mansion in Reader to ploppable (i really dont know how do it, but want so much) ?

Ploppable residentials do not work, so you would have to make a landmark version or something like that. I guess the easiest way would be to use the "Buildings as Props" and place a mansion prop on a park lot, though. Parks use an invisible building, so you simply can add the prop and design the lot to your liking.

1. If those are BSC props, the names usually start with the name or mark of the creator, i. e. "SG" for "SimGoober" or "jes" for "Jestarr". The prop pack itself should bear this abbreviation in the file name as well. It doesn't matter where you placed them, since the LE will read your whole plugins folder and offer all props that are found. Please note that the list is limited to the props that would fit on a lot of a certain size. If you want to edit a 1x1 lot, all props that are larger than this will be omitted.

2. The "Buildings as Props" files contain the original Maxis buildings as props, so you can use them on your own lots.

OR, you could zone its size such as 3x4. Then, you must download "Extra Cheats" by buggi. This plugin replaces the cheat window with more items, so you select BuildingPlop. What this does is able to plop every lot, landmark, etc. in the entire game. From here, you gotta search for this word "Mansions," you'll find a lot of mansions to choose from by Maxis or custom content.

However, remember this, you have to zone its corresponding zone atturibes for it to work right. You may zone larger zones and plop small RES lots, and it still works. Remember, you can't plop them in blank zones without its corresponding zone.

How to change buildings into props

The question is self-explanitory. Can you change LE buildings into LE props so I can have more of the same building on 1 lot?

Yes, the answer is the Plug-in Manager. If the building in question is in a .dat file, then you'll need the PIMX from SC4D. If it is one of the maxis buildings, then find the buildings as prop file from either the official SC4 website, or the ones offered over at SC4D. This should all be explanatory once you read the accompanying manual with the program you use (or have the maxis buildings as props file, which should be obvious without a manual).

Can you please explain some more? I don't have a manual for the SC4 PIM

I don't think you can do it using PIM. It will only work that way if the xml file is still present which it isn't in most dat files.

You could try the SC4 PIM-X (X-Tool) available over at SC4 Devotion on the LEX, as HDH said. It may be able to do that (not sure, I usually do it the hard way), and it handles in a similar manner to the Maxis PIM.

Otherwise you can do it the hard way, which uses a combination of PIM and Ilive's Reader (or just the Reader if you are really keen).

Basically the idea is pick a prop of similar size which you can use in PIM to make a prop. It can be anything, even if it is a box, as long as it is about the same size. Make your prop descriptor in PIM with it.

Then open it in Ilive's Reader. Also open another copy of the reader (or you can do it sequentially), with the building you want to be the prop. Look at the differences between the two kinds of "building" exemplars.

From the exemplar that has the building you want to be the prop, copy the Resource Key Type 1, Occupant Size, and Exemplar Name to the "folder". Then go in to the prop you made with the box or whatever, and remove those lines from its exemplar. Then replace them with the ones in your "folder". ReIndex, Rebuild Directory and Save. Test.

I wrote this late at night and may have left out some steps. Its the basic idea though. I had a tutorial somewhere I think.

There should be a manual for PIM -X over at SC4 Devotion. Its pretty self explanatory though. Put only the files in your plugins folder that contains the prop you want. Open PIM-X.  Look through the list for the item, then drag it over the suitable prop option on the left. Do anything else you have to do. Dead easy really.

I couldn't find PIM-X on the LEX or anywhere on the internet.

You can also effectively overhang building... For that you would need to alter its size in SC4Model and Desc files. Make it something small, say the size of the cross-section of the pole. This would make footprint in Lot Editor small and part of the "building" that extends beyond this foot print will effectively overhang.

Tis way you wouldn't need to create invisible dummy building...

I'm surprised that the easiest and cleanest method hasn't been mentioned yet: Simply render your BAT off-center. This way, the actual model will appear at a certain distance to the grey box that represents it in the LE.

But the thing is that the footprint will also extend in the opposite direction, and a building's bounding box cannot be outside of a lot's boundaries (CTD's and other nasty stuff like immortal lot syndrome). You can either PIM it as a prop (which the bounding box can extend halfway out) or shrink the footprint via Reader. A lot of my signs have a prop footprint of 1,Z,1 (Z/Vertical doesn't matter so I generally leave it as is)

Creating MMLs?

Could someone with zero programming experience be able to create MML to get a handle on crazy menu lengths?  I've gotten a little over zealous with plug-ins and need to get a handle on my Parks/Landmarks menus.  It takes waaaay too long to scroll through everything.

Can I do something about that?  Is there hope for a plug-in hoarder?

I guess a follow-up question would be:  How do I get started?  I dont even know where to begin for that.

Thanks for your help!

You've made 3 posts in about as many minutes.. please don't make a habit of this.. (the "delete" button works fine and the "edit" button works just as well). How eqocentric can you be to expect an answer in 3 minutes???!!!!

At any rate, here is a link for MAKING MML's (no great programming skill required.. just attention to details) and here's a link to MML Details to learn a lot more about them and what's available.

To make this clear to everyone who has a question, if you don't know, we are not a place where you can post a question, and receive an answer within a minute or two. Patience is something that you need when posting questions, and also, if your plan is to post something every minute in hope to grab attention, it will not work for you, but against you. Thank you.

@usfwoody: When you post three times, and people get annoyed (even though they did give you a link to help your problem), it's not a good idea by jumping back and insulting them by calling them "oversensitive petulant jerks" or "large unhelpful cretins with diarrhea of the mouth". In fact, such behavior could get you banned, at least temporarily.

Generally, it's never a good idea to attack another member. Step back from the computer and take 5 min to chill. It doesn't get you any more help when you start calling people names and frankly will result in a ban. They were merely reminding you of proper behaviour on a forum like Simtropolis.

And for future reference, the word "n o o b" is censored. However, "newb" is perfectly acceptable. Just a heads up if you didn't figure that out already 2.gif

Now to answer your question, SC4BOY had already answered it below his gentle poke to proper forum etiquette.
