Wonderful efforts as always.

My only suggestion, could you include darker, fresher pavement and brick crossings? That would definitely amplify the feeling here well. Perimeter landscaping will also help set it apart from neighboring streets.

This looks phenomenal! So much to look at and the design makes it look like a newer upscale shopping center.

Your work is really coming along nicely - this last lot in particular, is really well done: everything from the batting to the way the bats interact with a vibrant lot is lovely. *:thumb:

I love the work you have done on this lot! I like how there are multiple buildings instead of a massive parking lot. Keep up the great work!

I'm not aware of any brick crossing textures- so this will have to do. I do suppose I can change out the base texture to the one I used with Wegmans.

Great to hear- as that is exactly what I was going for. This is meant to be a 'village center' development where things are setup like this

Thank you very much! That means a lot coming from you. I honestly was thinking people could surround this with some of your housing developments when I first started on this.

This is the way that modern shopping centers are designed- hence the reasoning for multiple buildings.

I actually have some new ideas for restaurants that @RRetailhas yet to make.  I'll list them on here if anyone is interested in building them.

    1. Eat'n Park (Restaurant based off in the Pittsburgh region)

    2. Bob Evans (Restaurant chain headquartered in Columbus, OH)

    3. Cheddar Casual Cafe (I've been to the restaurant, but the closest locations are in Dover, DE and York, PA

    4. Hoss's Steak and Sea House (A Restaurant chain headquartered in Duncansville, PA)

    5. Applebee's (The Modern Style has yet to be created)

That is all.  Hope everyone has a wonderful 2021.

I've never been to Bob Evans but I do love those microwavable mashed potatoes they make to go alongside some meatloaf!  There are three (maybe four) within a 40 mile radius or so of me. Fun fact, one of them had to be torn down... right after it was built - it was sinking into the ground and they had to rebuild it with extra reinforcements!!

I quite enjoy going to Applebee's after watching a movie. Haven't been in there a while. I haven't seen the more modern designs at all. The only one I have ever been to has a design like this:

    https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/08/60/70/85/applebee-s.jpg

    http://www.46750.com/images/applebees.jpg

^ that location has been there for at least 15 years or so, perhaps longer.

Once you play with NAM installed, one simply cannot go back!

I'm waiting for the day when someone makes a Faber College lot for SimCity 4

I actually intend to do Bob Evans at some point. I already have a Bob Evans sign made in my prop pack. Bob Evans in fact almost made the cut as a second outparcel to the Union Square Shopping Plaza, but I made the decision not to do it since it didn't fit the general southern and/or national tenant mix. (Bob Evans wouldn't of made sense to be there.)

Cheddar's seems possible at some point (possibly in a strip mall?). I kind of did do a modern Applebee's as part of my Modular Strip Mall Collection, but I do understand how a standalone would be appreciated.

When and/or if I get to Bob Evans and/or Applebee's, they would still come as part of a shopping center package.

The others are less likely to be made as they are very region specific. As much I personally love to eat at Hoss's (last visited one in February 2020 thanks to the pandemic), I just don't know if it is something worth making with so few locations.

    Hello RRetail,

I wonder if you have the texture templates for the shk addition which you use on your prop packs. I really like to have those textures to match my sidewalk and grass.

    Thank you,

    Yasin.

First off, thank you and everyone else for all your support.

I cannot say with absolutely certainty. It would seem that I may be making a trip out to near Cincinnati in the near future, perhaps I'll find a bit of inspiration along the way.

I don't mean to be a pest but I have a idea for a project I call "Modern Revisions Of Yesteryear". This is a Modern re-make pack of stores that went defunct from 1995-2015. The idea is to have these stores

    • Ames
    • Bradlees
    • Caldor
    • Phar-Mor
    • Super Kmart
    • Jamesway
    • Ann & Hope (the department store)
    • Ernst (home improvement/garden chain from West coast)
    • Builder's Square
    • Sears Grand
    • A&P
    • Pathmark
    • G.I. Joes (a PNW sporting goods chain)

That's about all I have. I'd love to hear @RRetail's thoughts on the idea and if he has any other stores to suggest plz let me know! And again this is just a idea I don't expect anyone to make these. But if someone wants to/has the time to, or has any ideas for designs let me know. My thoughts so far as with these I can only think of Super Kmart looking a lot like Walmart.

    • Ames

Sort of on topic:  I was less than two years old when Ames closed up shop altogether. It's a real shame, honestly. I learned about Ames a few years ago and that's what got me into dead and dying retail; the history, what happened, what the stores were like, etc. Ames, still to this day, fascinates and interests me the most. It's sad but interesting to see various abandoned Ames stores online (one was still in fairly good shape but it was torn down, sadly). If I was old enough, I definitely would have shopped at Ames.

Anyways, I was surprised to find an Ames on here a few years ago:

The pack includes a Hills Department Store (which Ames bought out in 1998) that was turned into an Ames. I figured I would link that for you to check out (or anyone else who likes Ames), just in case if you did not see it before. The BAT is not bad at all, in my opinion, although it is a little dated (which is fine).

The thought of a modernized Ames is highly interesting. I must admit, I have thought about and pondered over "what would Ames look like today?"

I don't know if RRetail has made and/or considered an Ames (classic or modern). It would be neat to see another Ames lot some day.

An interesting concept to be sure. Not sure I would take a modern approach with them if I were to make them as it would be hard to imagine (to me anyways) what they may look like.

I have only the slighest memory of my local Ames and that is of visiting the toys department. What stood out to me is that the aisles were diagonal.

I've seen this pack as well. I think you're confused as well @TogaMasterJohn bc their isn't a Hills however, it's Zellers witch is a Canadian chain of department stores similar to that of Kmart or Shopko (from my neck of the woods). They went under years ago and I love seeing this pack.

What I am looking for is a shopping center featuring versions of these stores but modernized. I stumbled across a picture of a modern Super Kmart in Arizona that closed in 2009. It looks very nice and if Kmart had remodeled their stores, this would've been a nice design to use.

To clarify, I was referring to the Ames: the Ames found in that pack is modeled after a former Hills that was converted into an Ames.

I wish there was a Hills for SC4

I was pondering on requesting Sunoco's Convenience Store (A-Plus) to be made for SC4, but I don't know if that could be necessary since 7-Eleven is buying out those Convenience stores.

I saw that. But what I'm looking for is a more modern A&P style building like a Superfresh concept.

And other cool ones would be a Schlotzsky's bc all of mine closed around me a few years back and I've been hoping for a model for SC4 so I can have one in my town.

Superfresh isn't a bad idea. I could see myself possibly making that. In all honesty though, I have no idea when or even if that may happen.

I had never heard of Schlotzsky's before.
