The end and corner pieces do use the same textures as the rest, but are streched further, so do not look right. I plan to work on that after I have all the base pieces I made.
I have seen the color of muddy water (having lived through Katrina and Rita) and this looks very close to it.

thats cool, i just noticed a few people commenting about it and thought id make a suggestion, if youre happy with it thats all that matters.44.gif

were you in new orleans when katrina hit? man, that mustve been horrible. i live in tennessee and one night i tattooed a guy that had been there when it hit, he had some sad stories to tell.

Very good progress so far. One detail that would really enhance the look of the structure are realistic concrete seams. Anytime Concrete is poored seams are always put into it to allow the control of where it will crack. This is why sidewalks have a seam every 3 feet or so, driveways and freeways are no exception. The seams actually benefit the structure and allow for faster repair.

Any time there's an angle change or similar there would also be a seam.

And maybe a good lot maker could help you get rid of the tile shadow that is appearing on your North-South lots. I'm no expert. 1.gif

    Welcome to page 3!

A note on a few comments.

        1. Seams ... Thanks for the reminder ... I was planning on adding those kinds of details after I have the pieces made.
        2. Brightness ... I agree, still too bright, and will be working on that, also after I get all the pieces made.
        3. Garbage and Junk ... If you have gmax models I can merge into these, please feel free to let me know, I will give you full credit for them.
        4. Hand rails ... Thoses are fences, not hand rails.
        5. I plan to do a clean water version, as well as a diry water version.

I live just outside of New Orleans (Slidell, LA) half of my town was under water, including my parents, and grandmothers houses.

hey becca - hope things are sort of returning to normal in that part of the world. In oz they only covered the hurricane on the news for about 1 month, and we haven't really heard since...

Was rummaging through some of the textures I have (still on the lookout for dirty water). These two are actually from Xannepan's beautiful Paris set which he offered up on the 3ds section (so credit to him), I haven't used them yet; so they would need to be darkened by about 10-20% but they could be useful for the concrete as one has seams (bit too many, but you never know) and the other one has one seam & gets darker at the base - you could brown & ditry it up a bit...

    Anyways...<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//SideWall.jpg align=baseline>

Actually that first is a great texture (don't use the second). The second doesn't have seams as I was referring to. That image specifically has imprints on the concrete left by the wood form that was holding it up.

I might add that that second image shows some seriously poor concrete skills.

For seam imspiration take a look at the file here:

Fantastic concrete representation! (Props to morifari!) Three bunnies! 35.gif35.gif35.gif

Buggi - too funny! I know - I would *hate* to be in a building made of the 2nd concrete in one of LA's earthquakes!

I think Xannepan uses that one on his roof domes (like copper sheeting), but in game you can see only the faintest of lines...

matt - thanks a lot for that texture, I like it a lot. I am getting ready to start working more on the textures and adding some details to the pieces I have already made.

buggi - I have to agree.

I'll see what I can do with this texture, and put up a pic in a bit.

I am so happy that you took up the challenge with textures, because you have talent for modelling - and now with textures too!

Gould you have any use for this? Got it from a french site and muddied it - it doesn't seem to tile too badly...but will definitely leave it to you!

excellent work! i hope you plan diagonals! also, i was wondering what the river would look like if you raised the transparency of the water slightly.

Hmmm the water is must improved, but yet it seems filthy....It reminds me more of Detroit then L.A.,but it is an improvement and sometimes after the rains water would look like that I suppose.

Now what type of plants do you plan to toss into the river project?Maybe look around for some or make your own models, but Bamboo is a common plant found near and around rivers here in L.A./O.C.

Again best of luck on this project which appears to be doing quite well!44.gif

Wow, that concrete texture really made a difference!!!!! Sorry to hear about Katrina's effects on your family. I hope they are all doing well, Becca.

I do have some VERY detailed models of cars. Some of them are modeled right down to the steering wheel, and such. Unfortuneately, I did not make them. I got them off a website, the name of which I can't remember now. 7.gif

Can't guarantee anything on this one, but I may be able to slap together some models of shopping carts in the near future... Where I used to live, we'd always see them thrown into the rivers here.

Wow I can't belive I was so stupid to forget the shopping carts....In almot every open peice of land or shallow body of water there is a shopping art ever rusting waiting to be returned to the Target or Stater Bros it came from. The children just love to ride them aswell and remember in Jackass the movie they rode over the L.A. river in a shopping cart that was huge and it was awesome....

Man to be in that crazy movie....Oh and the golf carts were the best...

Anyway don't skimp on the shopping carts and weeds growing in the open cracks of the cement...

The explosions were pretty impressive, although they made it look like someone was wantonly blasting the art deco railings into dust..

That scene was on an awesome LA River bridge! It's just the sort of art-deco bridge I would love to see grace one of Becca's river lots... Hint hint... 3.gif

GMT - I am also very happy with the new textures.

sparkythepenguin - I'll take any help I can get, and will gladly share credit. Send me some pics of the bridges you mean, and I'll do my best.

Cjah - Thanks for the kind words. I am having some problems with modeling plants, but I will keep working on it.

If any one can do some pics with grafitti on them, I'd could use the help.

Here is an ingame pic of some of the lots with the new textures...

Can you post me a pic to use as something to go by? But yes, I plan to do a lot with them, right now I am still just making the base pieces. I am making them as props, so I can make several versions of each piece, put them in a prop family, and have them plop randomly.
