Modding school - from the raw model to the complete package
maetoch replied to T Wrecks's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Originally posted by: T Wrecks Hm, it's a beautiful building, but not really suitable for diagonal lots, don't you think? It's no problem if you take a building that's already been chosen by others if you don't find another suitable one.quote> Doh!! It does have a square bottom doesnt it? My mistake. I'll try the Marina Residence by skyscraper then. -

i am trying to animate a prop using denhams tutorial and i became stumped on a situation. in the tutorial he extracts bitmaps from .fsh files at various zoom levels. the prop im using is on a 6x6 tile. when i go to extract bitmaps from the zoom 3 level the images are chopped up. by this i mean that each bitmap has a partial image on it. in the tutorial it says to extract bitmaps from files with the last numbers being 300, 310, 320, 330; with the first number 3 being the zoom level and the last two numbers specifying the direction of the render, south, east, north, west. now, im getting files with the last numbers being 300, 301,302,303...310,311,312,313...etc,etc. what can i do to get these images into one? i thought about extracting each bitmap and piecing them together in photoshop then sizing them to the correct size but i dont know if this will cause the animation to jump. anyone that can help me on this will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Newbie BATter seeks feedback on first creation

holy cow!! these buildings are excellent. -
I use.jpg because i dont want to clutter my hard drive with large files, plus I make different textures by using the same texture over and over but change the hue and saturation. I read in another thread where someone was using.psd and wondered if it made any difference in the clarity but ive been to lazy to experiment myself.

my nutty little buildings can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=71324 i have a few that need testing for growable. and so theres no surprise i dont make modern/realistic BATs -
Date: 1/5/2006 10:45:08 AM Author: RebaLynnTS The end and corner pieces do use the same textures as the rest, but are streched further, so do not look right. I plan to work on that after I have all the base pieces I made. I have seen the color of muddy water (having lived through Katrina and Rita) and this looks very close to it. quote> thats cool, i just noticed a few people commenting about it and thought id make a suggestion, if youre happy with it thats all that matters. were you in new orleans when katrina hit? man, that mustve been horrible. i live in tennessee and one night i tattooed a guy that had been there when it hit, he had some sad stories to tell.

Having the ditches in a separate file will give people the option to install them when they want, on the other hand some may want them in one DL. In the last image, it looks like your end piece and your corner piece textures dont match the straighter pieces, but it could be the shadowing in the game, or ive been awake too long lol. it all looks really good so far though. As far as the water color goes, I have never been to LA or seen anything like these in RL so I wouldnt know what it looks like, but maybe a deep aqua/greenish brown or something, I dont know really. If I can be of any help let me know.

Phillippbos Tutorial Help and Feedback
maetoch replied to phillippbo's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
i dont have any idea what would cause your problem, sorry i couldnt be of any help. -
T Wrecks: Thank you for the compliment, I know 90%+ of the Simtropolis community focuses on realism so I wasnt sure how well these would go over. I love science fiction, so I thought I would try my hand at it. My plan is to do a complete tileset so that I can build a future city eventually. Maybe sometime down the line I will switch to modern buildings but for now Ill leave that up to the rest of the community. CDI_spy: Im glad you like them, there will be more to come soon, I hope. Odd: Thank you for the comments, I visited your thread and was in awe, thanks again.
