I'm not sure what your exact question is. The icons look fine to me. Is your question with regard to their placement (the order in which they show up on the menu) or that they are under Education and you want them somewhere else? Having no experience with this myself, I'd start with this Tutorial:Inserting a custom menu icon with the Ilive Reader and see if it provides any help for what you want to do.

Also, I suspect this thread would likely be better located in the SC4 Modding - Open Discussion forum. No need to re-post it there. If that's the better place for it a Mod will move it for you. ;)

Everything is fine to me except the background of the icon

    For exsample

The elementary school background with green grass is perfect

But the next icon one down is also a dublicate elementary school the problem is the grey scale background where green grass should be but it appears greyscale and I dont like it that way

    Hope you understand

Ah, yes. I do now understand.

My guess would be the image file for the icon would need to be edited. I haven't done any of this yet, so we'll just have to wait for the gurus to give a better answer. Was there anything in that Tutorial I linked to which would help?

I think what you need is a template file for making icons for SC4. Find attached a .PSD file, it should open with GIMP if you've not got PS. Just place 4x44px images on the bottom layer placed horizontally. Then the template will take care of the borders/formatting for you.

If you are manually making icons, you can import them using either SC4-PIM or manually using iLives Reader.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

All the icons you pointed to are for custom content.   I'm guessing that you haven't yet run into icons that don't show a likeness of the building in question.

The icons you see are those created by the content creators.  There is no "rule" that dictates what an icon must look like.  They can use whatever they want to use for their icons.  There is nothing stopping them from creating an icon from a picture of an ostrich (for example).

If the existing icons do not fit in with your idea of aesthetics, you will need to replace the icons on each-an-every-one of the custom ploppable lots that already appear in your menus, as well as for any new content you download.  The tutorial CorinaMarie pointed you too is the process you will need to follow.  Note that the pictures shown in that tutorial are from a very old version of Reader.  What you will see in the current version is a lot different.   What is not covered in any degree in the tutorial is the actual process to either modify existing icon images, or create your own custom images to use.  The process will vary depending on the graphics program you choose to use.  The template rsc204 posted will certainly come in handy to ensure any images you create are of the necessary size.

Or if you'd like to go down the automated route, here's a handy little program I've used previously:

    SC4LotIconCreator

All it requires is a single square image, which it creates into the strip with the 4 icon types. You'd then need to import it using the same method.
