I know this is a really old game, but does anyone here still play it on Battle.net? It was probably one of the better strategy/war games of the 90's.

Heck, it was (still is, apart from graphics) THE best game. 19.gif Best strategy, balance, gameplay. 9.gif

I don't play it anymore, but I remember playing it, but not online though. 20.gif

I recently found my copies of Age of Empires II and Starcraft while cleaning up some cabinets in my bedroom... so I convinced a few of my friends to play AoEII with me online... none of them had Starcraft, sadly. We are even considering buying AoEIII, but games get more and more expensive everyday, and I'm not sure my computer could handle it well, especially online.

So, in case, this post is still alive, I'm a diehard Starcraft fan, and Blizzard is already releasing new units at starcraft2.com, or go to battle.net, and you'll find the same thing.

So yeah, Battle.net just kind of irritates me.  I wanted to play again, but then starcraft II was announced (!!) and I didn't bother since I figured it would be a little too excited.

My buddy and I made our own missions complete with heroes and voice over CGI 4.gif I didn't like playing online either, zerg rush, or zealot rush, or carrier rush ... I like playing with the big units, like in Supreme Commander.

I've been playing Starcraft 2, and I like it. I don't really like the campaign though. The story wasn't that great and a lot of the missions were a waste of space (the colony missions...). The writing and the animation were pretty bad too, and it didn't help that the storyline and who you talk to on the Hyperion didn't have a set order. Starcraft 1 was a lot better and it did it with voice acting set to looping portraits, in-game sprites, and a small number of pre-rendered cinematics. I also didn't like how almost all of the missions were introductory missions for various units, where you're given a unit and a situation that that unit works really well in. I'd rather have gotten all of the units earlier, and been able to use them more freely.

Multiplayer is really nice though. I wish they would have done a better job on the campaign though.

I enjoyed Starcraft and it's expansions when i had them. At first the gameplay was somewhat similar to my all time favorite Command & Conquer, but still different, took me a while to get a hang of it, and geez did I love it. Story too was pretty enticing. However one thing that urked the living daylights out of me was the size of the Battlecruiser. It's supposed to be this giant starship and yet one of the Terran marines could ride it like a horse. lol

I haven't played Starcraft 2, nor will i probably for some time. But I've watched gameplays and it looks pretty nice. Cinematics have caught up with current day standards, but I was also a little lost with it. I remember Raynor, but not that marine guy he got with.

All in all, real good RTS. Definitely up there with C&C.

I'm really into Starcraft II these days. Some professional casters (LAGTV) have commentated one of my games. I'm in the North American Diamond league and always looking for a challenge if someone wants to play a game against me.

My character name is Haljackey, code 669. URLs below:

Quick note, if you haven't been to a "Barcraft" yet, I suggest you go. Most cities have em, organized by local Starcraft II fans. So much fun.

I like it, just hate going against people who are... well, just to darn good.

I can't do the sheer amount of multitasking they can. I would say on a scale of 1 - 10 with ten being the fastest players and one for slowest. I'm about a 5.

lol So I got frustrated and stopped when I couldn't beat anyone anymore.

I got the HotS beta, but at the moment I am not a fan of the extra units. Players got too many possibilities now I feel. I do look forward to the campaign in HotS, but other than that.. It sure does not feel like the expansion 'The Frozen Throne' was to Warcraft 3.

I think I will be one of the conservatives who will buy HotS, but after the campaign return to WoL, but then again. If the Koreans say HotS is well-balanced and use it for GSL then I am willing to reconsider.

Yes, I know I change my mind a lot, but that is just because I feel like I need to explore all the options. I really am hoping the best for the expansion, I've been an admirer of Blizzard for quite a while now and do trust their judgement on how to make a good game.

I still have a battle.net, though I have not logged in since 97 eek!

But you are right. It was feasibly one of the "better RTS" games of the 90's.

Sadly, most people dont play Starcraft anymore. I remember playing it on Windows 98. Good times, makes me feel rejoice in my body :D

Great game, I'm absolutely in love with the story for Starcraft! Wings of Liberty was loads of fun and the campaign itself was awesome, Sarah coming back at the end was one of the greatest moments in all of SC (well, at least because I hated the Queen of Blades).

Can't wait for her to be the lead along with Zeratul later on. Jim Raynor was awesome!!! I would want to start my own thread on "your favorite out of the 3 mains", but seeing how this thread has only had 30 replies in the last 8 years, I'll hold off for now
