Ngon's creations gone from workshop

Hi, long time no see. I haven't played C:S in quite a while, but just picked the game up again a few days ago. Today I noticed that all of Ngon's creations seem to be gone from the workshop and also from my current city. Does anyone know what's up?

It seems like Ngon had a hissy fit after some comments (or something along those lines) and subsequently removed his entire Workshop >.<
More about it here.

I made extensive use of his assets, so it looks like I have quite a monumental reconstruction task on hands... :cry:
On the bright side I can now sub to all those awesome Miyagi Motors automobile plant assets without having to worry about the impact on performance or loading times.

Oh, and welcome back!!! :party:

Some kind of rage quit, I really hope we can fix the situation, I was just working on this.

I used a lot of his stuff too. Surely they're posted somewhere other than the workshop.

I did save my asset files before booting up C:SL today, so I have Ngon's assets still I believe.

If I'm correct, the assets are under the IAICache files in steamapps correct?

    I really hope he reconsiders. Yes, user comments can be a major PITA. I guess the combination of doing something nice for lots of people and get nothing but abuse in return can be quite a downer.

    I just looked, and I'm mostly missing his new stuff that he made while I was gone. I had downloaded the prison and some other stuff. It's weird that you immediately see all the gaps in the city, which shows how much of his creations I used. It's a pity. At least I have backups of some of his old stuff, like those dry bulk thingies with and without coal (not the other ones though).

    Unfortunately, my folder had updated already, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed the missing items.

    Thanks. And from there, where do I put them? I ask because when the eclectic homes went missing from the workshop, I backed them up but never could get them to show back up in my game.

    Ok, that's where I put them before, but for some reason the game didn't want to see them. I'll try this and hope it works this time.

    Does anyone have a list of NGON's assets by name?

    For the backup, search for *.crp in folder 255710. That way you get rid of the stupid numbered folders when you copy the files. Then you can see all filenames in your backup folder and can just look along the list whether you recognize his stuff. Unfortunately, his username was only part of three assets.

    Ok, I've got these:

    Medium Size Clinic

    Pharmacy

    Public Soccer Field (I think it's by NGON)

    Coal Plant

    Police Station

    Recycling Center + Dropoff

    Storage Tank Mid

    Oil Tank - Fixed Roof

    Oil Tank - Floating Roof

    Storage Tank Big

    Swim Club

    Luxury Boutique 1A, 1B, and 2

    Modern Luxury House Num1 and Num2

    Prison

    What else? And does anyone need the ones I have?

    Also, I don't seem to have Gasometer, though I thought I did.

    I just realized I messed up.  I just need the oil tanks and the storage tank big.  I just favored his big fuel tanks since they were the best big tanks in the Workshop.

    Uploading them onto Dropbox might be the best way to go about sharing what has been lost.  I'll send a PM.

    Without permission of the creator, yes, it is. We have to privately share this. Or find a Russian or Chinese site that has them already.

    My mistake. I'll take them down now.

    EDIT: I'm not finding a way to delete them. How do I remove them?

    A few more recent ones I discovered, for those who want to locally back up his assets (all names are the file names minus the .crp extension):
    - Luxury boutique 1A;
    - Luxury boutique 1B;
    - Luxury boutique 2;
    - Landfill;
    - Prison.

    As far as I'm aware those HVAC props aren't his ( Rooftop Hvac System A.crp most definitely isn't, not fully sure about the other one).

    btw: does anyone know what those 5 little L1 low density commercial shops were called (those tiny, brownish brick shops, one a barber shop, one a record store, a bakery[?]). If anything I want to keep those, because they are perfect fillers.

    No idea how to delete stuff. You can always report your own files.

    As to the HVAC's, I wasn't sure whether there was anything on the recycling plant. However, I'm never sure whether I mix things up with Ryan James' or VIP's creations.

    The luxury stores and the landfill were his latest assets before he took them down.  The batch before that was the dry bulk terminals, if anyone is wondering his upload timeline.

    Yup. I'm missing those and the prison. I never downloaded the cement dry bulk.

    In a way it doesn't really matter anyways, as locally stored assets still use the Workshop props. So the local copies are prop-free, and will need to be re-'propped' locally...

    Yeah, it's really sad to see his stuff go. I think I might have added to an already growing irritation when I commented on a prop of his for the landfill (the pile of tires). Turned out he had actually forgotten to optimize them before uploading. He then took them down (maybe to avoid future comments, maybe to upload optimized version later) and ppl ofc asked about the missing prop on his gorgeous landfill. I totally get how annoying tons of comments on assets can be, but removing them is just such a douchy move. Especially services can really mess up cities for ppl. :(

    I contacted him hoping maybe it was just that he got sick of the comments and hoped maybe I could continue his work, but no luck. I guess I might have been the wrong person to ask that if I pissed him off. ;)

    Anyways, to the point of me posting here. I had always planned to make some larger oil tanks (I didn't use Ngon's because of their high tris count), something I have now moved up my priority list. They'll follow the style of my tanks, but I'm going for some of the same footprint sizes as Ngon's tanks were, for those who would like to replace them (or can't get a hold of his ones). I had also planned to expand and update my piles - and add some decorative props to my recycling - so I'll do a landfill with no boarders (I really liked how his could be used alone or together) and add some prop piles for decoration. It won't be the same and I prob won't have as realistic/crisp textures as Ngon's stuff - and I really wish he had kept his stuff on the workshop.

    This is really sad. His assets are excellent. All those holes in my city :(

    If anyone who has saved his assets please please send me a message with a dropbox link or something?

    Thank you very much! :)

    Did he ever put light on those?

    So with the shakeup and my misplaced thought on where those assets were saved, I did take the time to fill the missing Gasometer spots with your fuel tanks.  Personally, do like the weathered look to Ngon's crisp, new textures.

    Someone on the subreddit linked Skymods to get whatever you need of Ngon's stuff you're missing.
